Chapter 1540

"Please don't tell the manager! Can you lower the compensation a bit? I'm not from here. All my earnings go to my rent; I really don't have that much money!" The waitress was on the verge of tears.

"I don't care, stop beating around the bush and transfer the money now!" Daisy urged, glancing at the crowd gathering around them and worried about a call from Xavier.

The waitress, who looked no more than twenty, was visibly frightened and pleaded in a low voice, "Can we settle for three thousand dollars? That's all I have."

"Three thousand?" Daisy scoffed, about to walk away. "I'm done talking. I'll just go directly to your manager."

"Please, don't talk to my manager. I'll lose my job!" The waitress pleaded helplessly, "Can I give you an IOU? I'll pay you back when I get my wages."

"No way! Go borrow from your friends if you have to, and make it quick!" Daisy snapped impatiently.

"I'll help her pay it back!"

Norah stood up and walked over, stopping the waitress, who was about to make a phone call. She smiled at Daisy and said, "How much for your dress? I'll buy it!" "Who are you?" Daisy eyed Norah. Although she couldn't tell the brand of her clothes, they were finely made and obviously expensive.

Anyone who could afford to come to the 9th Mansion wouldn't be poor..

Norah gave the waitress a glance and smiled. "I'm her friend."

The waitress stared at Norah in shock but saw her winking conspiratorially

Daisy didn't care if Norah was really the waitress's friend. As long as she was willing to pay, she was fine with it. "Six thousand five hundred dollars, not a penny less!"

"When I overheard you earlier, you said the dress was six thousand eight hundred dollars. If I'm buying it, I'm paying in full, not leaving you short!" Norah took out her phone and transferred the money. After paying, she showed Daisy the screen, "Six thousand eight hundred dollars."

Daisy looked at Norah, a bit surprised. She seemed not to care about the money, so she didn't think much of it, pocketed her phone, and sat down, not forgetting to scold the waitress, "Be more careful next time! Not everyone is as easy to appease as l'am!"

The waitress didn't dare say anything, she just apologized to Daisy.

Norah returned to her table, and the waitress came over and whispered, "Miss, can I have your contact information? I'll pay you back when I save up enough money."

"No need; I should be thanking you!" Norah's eyes twinkled in the light.

"Thank me?" The waitress was confused. "For what?"

"Thank you for showing me that not everyone deserves him!" Norah smiled. "Now off you go, back to work."

The waitress, still puzzled, thanked Norah again before leaving.

Feeling enlightened, Norah took a big gulp of hot chocolate. Her phone suddenly vibrated. It was a message from Xavier. [Why are you here?]

[I'm here with my uncle and Estelle, having a gathering with friends. It was stuffy inside, so I came out for some fresh air.] Norah replied.

After waiting for a minute without any response from Xavier, Norah sent another message: [That lady is getting impatient waiting for you; you better hurry back!] Just as she sent the message, she saw Xavier coming up the stairs, his head down, probably reading her message.

Norah turned her head away, pretending she didn't know him.

After reading Norah's message, Xavier instinctively looked at her. The girl was looking cheerful, her lips tightly pursed. Was she happy that he was on a date? Xavier squinted slightly, looked away, and headed towards Daisy.
