Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) -
Chapter 1578
Chapter 1578
Charlie was trying to hold back his anger. "Emily, what the hell are you up to now? If you still don't believe what happened the other day, I can take you to the PR of Horizon Enterprises to sort it out face to face!"
"It's not about that day;' replied Emily, suppressing the pain welling up inside her and trying to appear calm and heartless. "I just can't stand the situation between us right now! People in our neighborhood are gossiping about us. Even when Ms. Simmons takes Kya out, she gets talked about. I don't want Kya to get hurt. I believe you dont want that either."
"Why don't we move back to the Royal Mansion? Or I can find another place for us. I promise you and Kya won't be bothered."
Emily felt a lump in her throat, but her look was more determined than ever. "Charlie, after all I've said, you still don't get it. I don't like you. Every day with you is torturous for me. I know I owe you a lot, but I've been with you for over two months now, isn't that enough to repay my debt? Let me go! You're wealthy and powerful, you can have any woman you want. Why me?"
Charlie's face turned cold, and his eyes were filled with indifference. He grabbed Emily's face, "Emily, what do you think I am, and what do you think you are? I thought you would eventually understand that my feelings for you are special!"
Tears rolled down Emily's cheeks as she looked at him. "Thanks, but your special feelings are just the same as any other feelings to me."
She hardened her heart, wiping away her tears, and said coldly, "I dont like you! So your feelings for me don't mean anything. I just want to go back to my old peaceful life. I don't want to spend every night with you. It's really painful! For the sake of our past relationship, I beg you to let me go!"
Charlie looked at her tear-stained face, feeling unbearable pain.
"Pain? The joy you show me every night, is that because of pain?"
Emily's shoulders shook as she tried to break free from him. "You can say whatever you want to insult me. Do whatever you want, as long as you let me go!"
"Emily!" Charlie looked at her painfully, his voice hoarse, "Say it again that you dont like me."
Tears welled up in Emily's eyes again. She looked at him tearfully and said resolutely, "I don't like you! I've never loved you!"
Charlie felt a tightness in his chest, as if he was thrown into an ice cellar. He pushed her away harshly, watching her stumble onto a chair, his eyes filled with cold rage. "Emily, one day you will understand how foolish you are!"
Emily turned around to look at him, her eyes red, "I am indeed foolish, but if you like me, it only proves that you are even more foolish!"
Charlie took a step back. He squinted at the woman in front of him and nodded slowly. "You're right, how could I like a woman as foolish as you? In my eyes, you're not even worth a dog on the street!" He was about to go mad with her, not wanting to see her for another second, and turned around to leave.
Emily wiped away her tears, choking back a sob, "I will send my resignation letter to your mailbox, and all my current projects have been sorted out and will be handed over to Tracy. I won't be coming back tomorrow."
Charlie suddenly stopped, his face gloomy. He turned around and looked at her coldly, "Did I say you could leave? The three-month period isn't over yet, you can't go anywhere. Once the three months are up, if I don't want to end it, you can't leave either! You can't just go. You have to be ready whenever I need you!"
Then he quickly walked away, moving so fast as if he was afraid he might do something to hurt her in a moment of impulse.
Emily sat on the chair, covering her eyes with her hand, and tears streamed down her face, trickling through her fingers onto her arm.
Charlie had already left, and the office was eerily quiet. Emily sat there for a long time until her phone's vibration pulled her out of her painful thoughts.
She glanced at the name on the screen, her eyes turning icy. She grabbed a tissue to wipe away her tears, then picked up the call, "Hello?"
"Emily!" Gina's voice came over the line, cheerful as ever, "Are you off work yet?"
