Chapter 1721

Before Ron could fire her, Emily was ready to slam her letter of resignation onto his desk and let him know that she was quitting on her own terms.

She braced herself, raising a hand to knock on the door.

"Come in!" Ron's voice echoed from within.

Emily pushed the door open, and her gaze first fell on Beck, who still had bruises on his face. His eyes were a bit gloomy, but he quickly averted them as Emily entered.

"Emily, come on in!" Ron greeted her with warmth and familiarity.

Caught off-guard by Ron's demeanor, Emily took a few steps into the room before noticing the man seated on the couch.

Charlie was casually dressed, wearing a light grey V-neck sweater that accentuated his handsome features and tefined aura, making him look like a nobleman straight out of an artwork.

"Emily, have a seat!" Ron poured a glass of water for Emily and introduced Charlie. "This is Mr. James. I heard you've worked for him before, so you must be familiar with each other. I won't introduce him further. Mr. James has seen the design you did for Mr. Beck and is very impressed. He wants you and Designer Chad to work on the blueprint for the skyscraper. What do you think?"

Sitting on the couch, Emily locked eyes with Charlie. Her heart pounded in her chest, and her grip on her resignation letter tightened.

So, that was why Ron had suddenly changed his attitude-it was all because of Charlie!

Had he come here early in the morning because he genuinely liked her designs and wanted to collaborate with her?

Charlie gazed at her with a soft smile. "What, are you not willing to collaborate with the James Group anymore after leaving it? Personal feelings aside, work is work. I hope you won't confuse the two." "No, of course, I won't!" Emily hastily shook her head.

She could never maintain her composure in front of him!

"Emily, you should thank Mr. James for this opportunity!" Ron nudged her.

After a pause, Emily lowered her gaze. "Thank you, Mr. James."

"You're welcome!" Charlie responded with a polite and refined smile. "Then it's settled! Work hard on the design.

I'm looking forward to seeing it."

"I'll do my best!" Emily said earnestly.

Charlie nodded slightly and turned to Beck. "Mr. Beck, I heard there was a bit of a conflict between you and Emily. Is that true?"

Beck raised his head, a look of panic flashed across his face before he forced a smile. "No, there's no such thing. I'm very satisfied with Ms. Sullivan's design. We'll continue to collaborate. There was a small misunderstanding, for which I apologize to Ms. Sullivan."

He stood up and said to Emily, "Ms. Sullivan, it was all a misunderstanding. I'm sorry. Please don't take it to heart."

Ron watched Beck from the corner of his eye, not daring to breathe.

"If Mr. Beck needs it, I will continue to work on designs for him. But beyond that, there's no need for further interaction!" Emily stated calmly.

"Absolutely!" Beck nodded vigorously. "I won't disturb you outside of work matters!"

Charlie turned to Ron, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. "I hope that during Ms. Sullivan's collaboration with the James family, your company can ensure she isn't disturbed and can work happily. If these issues interfere with her progress, I'll have to take it up with Blake directly next time!"

Ron immediately reassured him, "I understand. Please be assured, Mr. James. We will create a comfortable and pleasant work environment for Emily, allowing her to focus on her design."

Charlie nodded and stood up. "With that, I'm done here"

Ron motioned to Emily. "Emily, please see Mr. James out!"

Charlie glanced at Emily before striding towards the door.

Following him from behind, Emily remained silent until they reached the elevator. As they stood there waiting, Emily felt she needed to break the silence.
