Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) -
Chapter 1881
She shifted her gaze, with her fingers tightening around Jonathan's hand, "Let's hit up the Royal Mansion tonight!"
Jonathan arched his brows and gave a playful glance in her direction, "Feeling nostalgic?"
Estelle feigned nonchalance, "Yeah, I haven't been to the Royal Mansion since we got back!"
Jonathan inquired, "What about that dress you ordered?"
Estelle inhaled sharply, she'd totally spaced on that!
"Forgot?" Jonathan's look was a mix of resignation and affection, "Shall I take care of it?"
"No, I'll book it now!" Estelle immediately reached for her phone.
She'd rather take a little embarrassment than have him book it; the boutique owner would surely think he was back to buying in bulk!
As she scrolled through the pictures with the models striking poses, she felt her heart racing faster and faster.
Jonathan caught a glimpse and pointed to one, "That one!"
"No way!" Estelle instantly vetoed it. The one he pointed at was even more revealing than the one Magdalen had given her the day before.
"Didn't you say it's up to me?" Jonathan's lips curved into a teasing smile, "Now that I've helped you postpone the wedding, are you ditching me?"
Estelle wanted to be thick-skinned enough to ignore his banter, but she just couldn't.
Yet, thinking of tomorrow's farewell, she felt her resolve softened and finally she complied to order the one he liked, leaving the delivery address as the Royal Mansion. Seeing her so obedient melted Jonathan's heart and stirred a restlessness within him, his foot pressing down on the accelerator continually.
Upon arrival at the Royal Mansion, they entered and flicked on the foyer light, illuminating the grand hall.
Memories of this place flooded her mind in a rapid slideshow.
After more than two years, there was no sense of strangeness.
It felt like everything happened just yesterday.
Estelle walked further inside. The cleaning service had done their job; the room was spotless. On the cabinet under the TV, she spotted her usual collection of discs.
She turned to Jonathan, "My method works, doesn't it? Horror movies are a great cure for insomnia."
Jonathan shrugged off his coat, loosened his tie, and gave her a melancholic yet noble smile, "When you suggested horror movies for insomnia, I really thought you were messing with me!" Estelle replied in surprise, "You really think that of me!"
Wrapping his arms around her from behind, Jonathan rested his chin on her shoulder as he chuckled, "So tell me now, was it on purpose?"
Estelle raised an eyebrow, "Of course not. I watch them when I can't sleep and they help me doze off."
Jonathan's frame enveloped her completely, his warm embrace encasing her, "You have trouble sleeping? Since when?"
Estelle tilted her head, her eyes meeting his, "When I miss you."
His eyes deepened instantly, and he spun her around to meet his kiss before lifting her in his arms and striding towards the master bedroom.
Estelle's coat fell away, and her light blue sweater joined it on the carpet. Jonathan was swift and sure in his movements, his lips never leaving hers, as if he intended to devour her completely. Just as they reached the master bedroom, the doorbell chimed.
Estelle lifted her eyes and pulled away from his lips slightly, "Mr. Lamont, your chosen dress has arrived."
Jonathan carried her to the bed and gently laid her down, kissing her cheek, "Wait for me!"
Estelle nodded, her lips pursed.
As he strode away, Estelle lay back on the bed, gazing at the stars filtering through the window, her face a blend of resilience and tenderness.
