In the midst of their dinner, Robin's phone buzzed on the table. He glanced at the screen to see a message from Diana.

He sneaked a look at Sophia before leaning back in his chair to open the text.

Diana had written, "Hey Mr. Hester, just finished the proposal. Spot any issues?"

Robin typed back, "Still at it? It's pretty late, you know."

"Better to stay and work for Mr. Hester than go home to an empty apartment!" Diana replied, along with a cute emoji of a bee working hard.

Robin chuckled softly, "Out for dinner right now. I'll check it later."

"Got a date? Then have a good time with Sophia! Saw you rubbing your nose during the meeting this morning, it's chilly out, make sure to bundle up."

Robin felt a warmth in his reply, "I'm alright now."

"Good to hear. Don't let me keep you, or Sophia might get jealous!"

"I'll review the documents when I get back. Head home soon, ok?"

"Will do! Waiting for your feedback!"

Sophia glanced up, "Who's that?"

Phone off, Robin's fingers tightened around it. He looked up, his smile gentle, "It's Blair from the marketing team. They're hitting a snag with a project and needed a bit of guidance."

He wore an apologetic expression, "Looks like I won't make it to the movie tonight."

Sophia's face fell, "They need you at the office this late? Can't it wait till tomorrow?"

"Everyone's pushing hard. Doesn't feel right enjoying myself while they're all grinding away."

"Go then. There's always another time for movies. Don't want the team thinking less of you for it!" Sophia quickly recovered, "I'll pack up some of this food for you to take back. Could make a nice late snack for your team."

Seeing the sincerity in Sophia's eyes, Robin felt a pang of guilt. He was tempted to stay.

When he didn't respond immediately, Sophia gave a small, understanding smile, "It's fine, really. I'm beat today anyway. Better to head home early and rest up."

"Thanks, Sophia," Robin managed, feeling somewhat relieved.

"We're family, no thanks needed!" Sophia teased, serving him more food. "Eat up!"

Robin looked down, silent.

After dinner, they stood outside the restaurant. "Let me know when you get home," Robin said.

Sophia, lingering a bit, suggested, "I could come with you to the office. I'll just sit quietly, won't get in the way."

Robin gently squeezed her shoulder, "Thought you were tired? I'd feel terrible making you stay up."

"But I want to be with you," Sophia insisted.

"The team might feel awkward with you there."

Sophia shrugged, a pout forming, "Alright then. Headed home. Don't overdo it, okay? Take care of yourself."

"I will."

She handed him the packed meals with a caring smile, "Make sure you save some for yourself if you get hungry."

"Will do!" Robin nodded, then headed off.

Sophia waved him goodbye, watching until his car was out of sight before heading to her own.

Back at the office, Robin slumped on his couch, loosening his tie, staring blankly at the takeout boxes on the coffee table.

A knock came at his door.
