Xavier was quick to assure, "I'm totally cool, man! If you guys hadn't brought me here, I'd probably have healed by now on my own."

Norah couldn't help but chuckle at his banter. "I'm really sorry. Yesterday, when they asked me to make the call, I knew you guys were probably close by looking for me, so I gave them your number. If I knew you would get hurt, I..."

She would have called Jonathan, asking him to come to her rescue, rather than letting Xavier rush over single-handedly with a knife wound!

Xavier comforted her, "You did right giving them my number. At the end of the day, we're both okay, right?"

And he was damn glad Norah chose to call him. When he found her, her top was stripped down to a thin camisole. He wasn't a fool. He knew what those bastards led by Jack were planning to do to her. Had she called Jonathan, even with his resources, it would have taken time to track down Nicolas and his gang. Who knew what irreversible damage Norah could have suffered by then.

Norah sincerely thanked him, "Thank you, Mr. Flemmings!"

"No sweat!"

A nurse came to change Xavier's dressing and hook him up to an IV. Norah couldn't help but glance at his wound as the nurse worked on him. Seeing the ghastly sight, she frowned and felt a pang of guilt. After Xavier was connected to the IV, Norah followed the nurse out, finding a quiet spot to ask, "Hi! I was wondering, after his wound heals, will there be any complications?"

She heard that a man's waist is quite vital. She didn't want Xavier to suffer any long-term issues because of this.

Seeing Norah's hesitation, the nurse reassured her, "No vital organs were hit. He won't have any complications and will be just like any other healthy man."

She added with a hint of mischief, "Don't worry, his...um...marital duties won't be affected!"

"Eh?" Norah blushed instantly and stuttered, "No, that's not...we're not..."

"No need to explain, I got it!" The nurse winked at her teasingly, "But really, you guys should be careful. Wait until he's fully healed before getting intimate again. Otherwise, the wound might reopen. You get what I'm saying!"

Norah's eyes widened in embarrassment and annoyance. They were not like that!

Back in the room, perhaps because of the nurse's words, things felt a little awkward between Norah and Xavier. When Xavier suggested she go home, she didn't linger long, promising to bring him lunch and then hurriedly left.

With the boss injured, the barbecue store was closed. Norah went straight home.

She looked up a diet for patients recovering from injuries online and asked the cook to prepare a soup and a couple of light dishes, which she brought to Xavier at lunchtime.

On her way to the hospital, she remembered the cook asking her if it was a meal for a pregnant friend and couldn't help but giggle to herself.

As soon as the barbecue store closed, Estelle was quick to find out, and she took some time off to visit Xavier in the hospital.

Xavier was feeling rather restless from lying in bed all day, and it was a relief to see Estelle. "Give me a smoke, will you?" Estelle asked with a smile, "Isn't Zachary giving you any?"

Xavier huffed, "He listens to the nurses and won't let me smoke. I'm going crazy here!"

Estelle retorted, "And you think I'm going to give you one?"

Defeated, Xavier slumped back onto the bed, looking like he'd lost all will to live.

"Let me see the wound," Estelle said.

Knowing that she was worried, Xavier rolled over and lifted his shirt to show her.
