Finding Her True Alpha -
Chapter 72: Too Much
Derek
“Of course, we trust you. It’s just.” I hesitated, sighing in frustration.
“Derek, what is it?” Ashlyn asked me, grabbing my hand with hers.
“Magnus gets anxious when you smell like another male, especially an unmated male,” I told her. And she signed.
“Okay, I’ll try not to smell like him, but I won’t stop being friends with him. We’ve been friends for 10 years.
But I understand where you are coming from.” She told me, wrapping her arms around my wa!st, squeezing me tight to her.
“You have nothing to worry about. You’re officially stuck with me.” She giggled, looking up at me, and I leaned in to k!ss her forehead.
“You say that like it’s a threat.” I laughed.
“I know I can be a pain in the a*ss.” She smiled, and Mason let out a laugh. And I pressed my l!ps in a line to hold in my laugh.
“Maybe, a little bit, Babygirl.” I squeezed her into my chest. Just then, a phone rang, and I noticed it was Ashlyn’s. She had it placed in her leggings pocket. She pulled away from me and pulled it out.
“It’s Brad.” She told us, stunned.
“Hey Brad, what’s up?” She answered. I noticed her face fell and her heart rate picked up.
“What? Where are you?” She asked him. Then she was silent while he answered her.
“Okay, I’ll be right there.” She exclaimed, panicked.
She jammed her phone back into her pocket and stepped away from us. Before any of us could ask her what was going on, she opened a portal and stepped through. The portal didn’t last long, and it closed right behind her.
“What the fr+k just happened?” I yelled to Mason, and he looked just as panicked as I felt. Immediately.
Mason’s phone started ringing, and he answered it and put it on speaker.
“Prince Mason?” Brad yelled into the phone.
“Brad, what the hell is going on?” Mason growled out and I could tell it was hard for him to control his emotions.
“They hurt Grace. A patient attacked her in the hospital. I called to inform Ashlyn. How the hell did she portal here?” He explained.
“Where is Ashlyn now?” I asked him, ignoring his question.
“She rushed into the OR to see Grace. They didn’t think she is going to make it, her or our baby” He’s voice cracked and I knew he was about to break down. I couldn’t imagine the fear he was feeling at that moment.
“If anyone can help her, it’s Ashlyn. Is Alpha lan with her?” Mason asked, and Magnus let out a growl. Mason looked at me and I rolled his eyes.
“No, I’m not sure where he is.” He sighed.
“Okay, we will be there soon, okay? Keep Ashlyn safe until we get there. And Brad?” Mason called out to him.
“Yes,” he answered.
“Ashlyn will do everything in her power to save Grace and your child.” He told Brad. “Keep her safe for us.”
Mason ended the call and looked over at Sage and Nathan.
“How the hell did she open another portal that far?” He yelled.
“She is the most powerful witch I’ve seen.” Nathan answered.
“Sage, we need a portal to Blue Moon.” I told her and she nodded.
“You guys stay here, explain what happened to the King’s and we’ll be back with Ashlyn.” Mason told everyone. Sage took Mason’s hand, and he thought of the Blue Moon pack house, and Sage opened up a portal.
The three of us stepped through and it closed behind us.
The pack hospital was located beside the pack house, and the three of us rushed over to the hospital.
We found Brad in the waiting room with Donny. Brad was a fvcken mess.
“Any news?” I asked. Donny looked over at us and shook his head.
“No one has come out to see us yet,” Donny answered while he was comforting his friend.
Mason sat down beside Brad and leaned forward so he could speak with him. But before he could say a word, Ashlyn came out of the OR covered in b***d. Brad immediately sat up at the sound of the automatic doors.
“Ashlyn!” He rushed over to her, wrapping her in a hug.
“Brad, she is okay,” I heard her whisper to him and he pulled away to look down at her.
“What?” He said.
“Both her and the baby will be okay.” She told him, letting out a breath.
“How?” He whispered.
“I healed her. She is still weak, but the baby is okay.
They are just getting her cleaned up and are going to move her into a room. The doctor will come get us when they are done.” She told him and he squeezed her into his chest.
“Thank you, Ashlyn.” He cried. And she hugged him back just as tight.
“Of course, Brad. I love you three so much. I would let nothing happen to any of you. I’m just glad that you called me when you did.” she mumbled into his chest and he nodded.
“How the hell did you portal?” he asked, pulling away from him.
“I’m half witch.” She told him proudly. And he was so stunned, he said nothing.
“I’m sorry I have a meeting with some kings that I have to attend. But I’ll be back tonight or tomorrow morning. Okay?” She told him and he hugged her again.
When they parted, she went over to hug Donny and Magnus, let his unhappiness known. She gave me a look but said nothing.
“Magnus, what is your problem?” I asked my dragon.
This was extreme, even for him. But he didn’t answer. He just huffed and retreated to the back of my mind.
“She’ll be okay, Brad. They both will. I’ll be back.”
She told him before Sage opened a portal and we were now standing in the council building’s front garden again.
“Babygirl, are you okay?” I asked her, while I wrapped an arm around her wa!st. She turned away from me and emptied her stomach into the snow. I looked over at Mason and he looked concerned about her as well. Sage leaned over to her while I was holding Ashlyn up by her wa!st.
“Ashlyn, what’s wrong?” Sage asked her, concerned.
“I don’t know. I just felt dizzy, but I’m okay now.” She answered Sage and stood up with her back to my chest.
“Let’s get you inside. We can find you some clean clothes before we head to the meeting.” I whispered to her, and she nodded. I bent down and lifted her bridal style and she snuggled into my chest, closing her eyes.
I followed Sage into the council building with Mason beside me. He was watching Ashlyn. Her breathing evened out, and I knew she had fallen asleep.
“Sage, so you know what happened?” I asked her in the building’s foyer. We weren’t planning on staying, but Mason was getting a key card for the wolf wing.
“I’m not sure. She definitely used a lot of magic quickly. Maybe she is just exhausted, and that made he feel dizzy.” She answered.
“Let’s get her into bed. We can go meet with the king’s while she has a nap. We can leave Liam, Brandon and Matt with he.” Mason told us while he walked back over to us after collecting a keycard.
We walked towards the wolf wing, still carrying our sleeping Queen. I had this unnerving feeling about leaving her alone without us. I couldn’t shake it. I knew she was safe with those three, but I didn’t want to leave her. And Magnus isn’t talking to me. All he has to do is explain why he is in such a mood.
We made it to the wing, and the others were waiting for us. Mason opened the door, and we all stepped in.
“Mason, what happened?” Liam asked, concerned.
“She’s just tired. She used too much magic too quickly,” he explained.
“But why is she covered in b***d?” Liam questioned, and Mason sighed.
“It’s Grace’s b***d, Ashlyn is fine. And Grace and her baby are also fine.” Mason confirmed, and Liam nodded. I moved past everyone and entered our room. Mason followed and closed the door behind him. He helped me get her undressed and to wipe off all the b***d that seeped through to her skin. When we were done, I covered her with a blanket and looked over at Mason. He was watching her intently.
“What are you thinking?” I asked him, and he shook his head.
“I’m thinking that she needs to slow down.” And I have to agree. She needs to slow down and ease into her magic or it might kill her.
“Whatever happens, we are here for her.” I told him, walking over to him, and he nodded.
“Now, let’s get this meeting over with. We will just have to tell them they can see her after she wakes up. And next time, we will have the meeting before her training.” I told him and he chuckled, shaking his head.
“Now, we just have to figure out how to get her to slow down,” he told me while we left our room.
“I’ll leave that up to you.” I told him and he glared at me.
“What happened to our united front?” he asked me and I laughed.
“Only when what we need to tell her won’t piss her off.” I told him, and he rolled his eyes.
“Scared?” he teased.
“Absolutely. Have you not met her?” l explained, and he let out a laugh.
“The trick is not to show her your fear.” he laughed, and I shook my head. She could portal us to the north pole and we would never make it back. I’m not in the mood to have her pissed off at me again. We both walked out into the living room, closing the door behind me.
“Sage, ready?” Mason asked her.
“Yeah, I have someone bringing Ashlyn some clean clothes and the others are already waiting in the meeting room.” She told us and we nodded.
“Then let’s get this over with,” I told them, while we made our way out of the wolf wing.
