Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life -
Chapter 1125
Jenna was caught off guard. She never expected Flora to just break away from the norm and walk off like that. "Hey-"
She quickly tried to catch up, but Selene stepped in her way. Jenna felt a bit of frustration on Flora's behalf. Talented people often drew envy, and trouble seemed to follow them like bees to honey. Suddenly, another roadblock presented itself, and Jenna's face turned stormy, her glare slicing towards Selene like a knife.
"Ms. Kaylee, I didn't think Flora would just brush you off like that, completely ignoring you," Kylie said, strolling over with a sigh. "Isn't that just asking for trouble?"
Jenna's scowl deepened. But Flora was already out of reach, so Jenna shifted her attention to Selene, who had just blocked her way. This girl seemed to be pretty tight with Flora.
"Are you close with Flora?" she asked, eyeing Selene and resting her hand casually on her hip where her gun was holstered. "Then your shooting skills must be decent too. How about a friendly competition?"
Flora was just trying to catch some extra sleep; she was wiped out from the night before and still felt a bit drowsy.
"Sis!"
As she rounded the corner, a voice popped out of nowhere. A young boy appeared, blocking her path. He was still in that shabby jacket, a smile with a hint of mischief playing on his lips, and a dimple that was more shadow than charm. Flora halted, regarding him with cool detachment. Unfazed.
"Sis, don't you remember me?" the boy grinned, pulling out two empty cookie wrappers from his pocket, the treats long gone. "The cookies you gave me last time were delicious."
Seeing the boy's seemingly innocent demeanor, Flora's brow creased slightly. Cutting to the chase, she asked, "Did you do that thing?"
She didn't spell it out, but they both knew what she meant.
The boy's smile widened, appearing innocent. "They insulted and bullied you, Sis. They got what was coming to them. It's just too bad there wasn't any boiling water-pouring that from head to toe would've been quite the spectacle, don't you think?”
Flora took a long, hard look at the boy. He wasn't an easy mark. He'd played the victim card well that day, even tugging at her sympathies a little. "What's your game?" she asked bluntly.
"I did it for you, Sis," he said with a smile, though his eyes were ice-cold. "You looked out for me, so I want to return the favor. How about I take care of those fools for you?"
"I don't care who you are or why you're cozying up to me, but you'd best not mess with me," Flora replied, done with the conversation, and turned to go.
The boy's voice trailed after her.
"Sis, those cookies you gave me last time were really good. Can I have another pack?"
Flora wasn't sure why the boy was trying to get close, but she didn't like it one bit, especially when people approached her with hidden
motives Hearing his request, shonet
paused, pulled a pack of cookies from her pocket, tossed it to the ground, and crushed it underfoot. The cookies crumbled into bits.
The boy's gaze turned frosty as he watched Flora walk away, then looked down at the crumpled cookie packet. What a waste. It was rare for anyone to give him anything, and now it was just crumbs. He felt a twinge of discomfort.
Well then...
Maybe a little chaos was in order. Last time, those two loudmouths at the cafeteria were really going at it, bad-mouthing Flora like nobody's business. Filthy mouths belonged in the gutter, after all.
