Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life -
Chapter 1159
Flora thought for a moment and said, "Connor, it's quite possible that aside from the bombs, they've also set up poison gas." "Poison gas?" Connor's eyebrows knitted together, and Moss, Beck, and the others were visibly stunned.
Poison gas on top of bombs? That's a double whammy!
"The smell is faint now, not harmful to humans yet, but if it's released on a large scale, it could be deadly," Flora explained. What beef did they have with the medical base to go this far? It was like they wanted everyone gone.
Flora's face grew more serious as the gravity of the situation sank in.
If they're pulling out all the stops with poison gas, they must really want the medical base to go down with them.
They'd managed to defuse all the bombs, but the lingering poison gas posed a long-term threat to everyone at the base.
"It's getting late; we should head back," Connor suggested with a thoughtful tone.
This needed to be reported to the top brass at the medical base so they could get a jump on preparations.
Now that the bombs were out of the way, all they had to deal with was the slow-acting poison gas. They still had time to track down whoever was behind this. "Yeah," Flora agreed with a nod.
They both headed back to the villa, while Moss and Beck stayed behind with their crew, patching things up and restoring the scene.
...
Meanwhile, a young man received an update.
"Young Master, Connor's team unearthed all the bombs," reported a man standing nearby.
"Not surprising he found them," the young man replied with a cool, indifferent smile. Bringing Flora along showed either confidence or a lack of concern for her safety. Sister, the guy you're into doesn't seem all that special.
"They're pushing us at the lab. The old man's used up all his human test subjects. We're just missing a few top talents. I checked out the new recruits, and Flora and Selene have the best skills. Maybe " "I'll deal with my adoptive father. You don't need to worry about it," the young man's demeanor suddenly turned icy.
The man took the hint and didn't push further.
"You can go," the young man commanded, his voice cold.
The man nodded and left.
The young man wandered over to the window, the narrow view only showing darkness, much like his bleak, lightless past.
He was an illegitimate child, never
welcomed. If it hadn't been for his adoptive father, he wouldn't have survived being dumped at the medical base by his biological father.
Both he and his adoptive father shared a deep hatred for the medical base and every family on Lone Island.
Life hadn't been kind to him, and he wanted to tear everything down, including Flora.
Throwing her into the lab as a test subject was his plan.
Yet-
His hand slipped into his pocket, touching the candy Flora had once given him.
A cold smile crept across his face.
Test subjects were always needed.
But finding someone as intriguing as her was rare.
One test subject was enough. Selene would do.
But his sister? She needed to be spared.
...
Soon, it was time for the new recruit test.
At the crack of dawn, Flora, Selene, and the rest of the group packed their bags and ventured into the wild.
After watching Flora leave, Connor headed to the medical base's senior management office.
It took Flora and her team half an hour to reach the thick forest at the back of the mountain.
The forest, alive with snakes, bugs, and all sorts of hazards, was a place of danger at every turn.
Normally, they would have to spend ten days in the forest, but this time, the base's senior management had
switched things up ove
QUMS
They'd hidden fifty dolls throughout the forest, each representing a patient. The recruits had to find all the dolls and correctly diagnose their "conditions" to make their way out of the forest.
