Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life -
Chapter 383
The internet was going wild, and Christian shelled out a fortune trying to cool down the trending topics, but nothing seemed to work. The tech team reported that multiple forces were at play, making it next to impossible to drop Jillian's trending topic anytime soon.
Photos of Jillian in various embarrassing situations stubbornly held the top spot on the trending list, getting pushed daily, and it was driving Christian to the brink of tears. Out of desperation, he sent Jillian out of the country overnight, deciding to let her fend for herself. He couldn't handle the chaos anymore.
With Jillian's fiasco somewhat behind him, Flora's life settled back into its usual calm.
Aside from attending classes, she was busy rehearsing for the welcome party dance.
Cynthia had been the one to drag her into it.
Though Cynthia was usually quite a live wire, she was incredibly serious when it came to important matters.
She found a dance routine online, took the time to master it herself, and then painstakingly taught everyone else, focusing on every little detail without getting tired.
Cynthia was helping a newbie perfect her moves; the girl was a good dancer but struggled to get some steps right.
Flora leaned against the wall, one leg bent, casually scrolling through her phone.
Rafael had messaged her, humbly asking, "Flora, how's the dance you choreographed coming along?"
Flora typed back, "Almost done."
She planned to think through some of the finer points a bit more.
"Flora, come on, it's time to practice!"
Hearing Cynthia's call, Flora tucked her phone into her pocket and lazily got up.
After practicing all afternoon, everyone was exhausted, barely managing to walk out of the studio.
As Flora, Cynthia, and Eilies stepped out, they saw Wendy waiting at the door. Who knew how long she'd been standing there?
"Flora, my dear freshman, we meet again!"
It was their third encounter that day...
And every time, Wendy seemed to be deliberately blocking her path.
Flora's head started to ache: "Senior, I'm really not interested in the student council."
"My dear freshman, you haven't joined any clubs; how dull your college life must be. The student council is fun, and you don't have to worry about it taking up too much of your time. Just join, and don't stress about being too involved in the activities."
Cynthia was on the verge of tears.
She had specifically tried to join the student council during recruitment, wanting to be part of the events team, but was rejected because her major in medicine was deemed too demanding.
Yet here was Flora, being personally invited by the vice president of the student council. Such was the treatment for the elite.
Back at the dorm, Flora carried two bags of fruit.
They were forcefully given by Wendy.
It wasn't just Flora who felt helpless; Wendy did too.
So many people wanted to join the student council but couldn't, and yet, Flora kept turning down the offer.
"Girls, hot news! Hot news! The school has invited Rafael as a guest for the welcome party!"
Cynthia burst into the dorm room, visibly excited.
Eilies, who was sitting on her bed, sat up immediately.
"Are you sure about this? Is Rafael really coming?"
"It's absolutely true; I heard it from a teaching assistant!" Cynthia was practically bouncing with excitement. "Check Twitter; Rafael's new dance routine seems almost ready. I wonder if we'll get a chance to see him perform at the welcome party."
"Flora, how can you be so unmoved?"
After talking for a while and seeing Flora still half-lying on her bed reading, Cynthia couldn't help but comment.
Rafael was the dream idol of countless young people, yet Flora was so calm upon hearing his name.
Flora finally looked up from her book at Cynthia, then simply uttered, "Oh."
