Forsaking the Years of Longing -
Forsaking Billionaire 124
Chapter 5 "Oh, if it isn't Caroline! Lost your job but already out here partying-it seems you're truly unafraid of facing Parker's consequences."
Under Jasmine's piercing gaze, I wrapped my arm around the model next to me, turned to Emily, and gave her a casual wink. I paid no mind to Jason, who was staring at me like he wanted to burn a hole through me. "Since I didn't do anything wrong, why should I be afraid?" I looked straight into Emily's eyes, smiling slyly. "The one who should be afraid is someone else."
I lifted my glass with a smile, catching that fleeting moment of guilt in Emily's eyes.
Emily quickly glanced at Jason and clung to his arm, pouting.
"Caroline, you really don't know when to quit. I haven't even settled the score for that slap you gave me this morning, and here you are, cozily sandwiched between two guys already. Truly shameless!"
Jason shot a glare at the two models beside me, his gaze so menacing that they instantly took a few steps back. I sighed inwardly- couldn't they at least put up a front?
But Jason's next words made me frown.
"Apologize."
Just two brief, commanding words, but I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
"Excuse me?"
"Apologize to Emily."
Seeing Emily's triumphant look, I realized Jason was taking her side over the slap I gave her earlier. But where was he when I was the one getting slapped? Not a peep out of him, as if he were dead. Jason really went out of his way to make me feel sick. Since that's how he wanted it, there was no need to end things on good terms.
I raised my middle finger. "Apologize my ass."
The whole room froze. Jason's eyebrows shot up, his face darkening dangerously.
"I didn't get the chance to say it earlier: I don't want the job, and I don't want you, Jason." I sneered. "We're done!"
With that, I turned around and walked away without a second glance, pulling the two models along with me.
Emily stood there, stunned by my last words. "Jason... you two?"
Jason's face was grim as he
watched my carefree exit. He
clenched his jaw, pulling his arm free from Emily's grasp as if to chase after me, but in the end, he simply turned away, leaving Emily standing there to absorb what had just happened.
"Caroline, that was epic, but are you sure Jason will let you go that easily? He looked like he was ready to eat someone alive,"
Jasmine teased as we settled into a private booth.
"Let me go?" I scoffed. "As if he has that right."
"True," Jasmine grinned, clinking her
glass with
mine. "With your status
as the heiress of Howard
International Bank, who can touch you as long as you're not blinded by love? Honestly, we should have slapped Emily again. That bitch dared to frame you!
At least now we have the evidence!"
I nodded.
Jasmine continued, "So, what are you going to do? You're not planning on letting this go, right?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Do I look like someone who would just take this lying down?"
From a young age, I wasn't one to tolerate injustice. If I could walk away from the man I'd loved for five years, I'd certainly have no trouble dealing with someone like Emily But I'd need a proper plan to make the best use of the evidence in my hands for a satisfying revenge.
That night, feeling annoyed, I drank the whole night away with Jasmine. The next morning, I was jolted awake by her frantic calls. Caroline! Where are you? Check the trending news right now!
