Forsaking the Years of Longing
Forsaking Billionaire 14

Chapter 14

Nolan froze, his expression shifting through a myriad of emotions.

Finally, the forced smile on his face looked even worse than crying.

His lips moved a few times before he managed to speak:

"Charlotte, where did you find this actor? He's terrible at acting. Stop fooling us."

Even with the rings and the marriage certificate in plain sight, he still refused to believe it.

Charlotte hadn't expected to see them so soon, but she had long decided to sever ties with them.

"He's not an actor. Sorry to disappoint you. As you can see, I'm married."

Her voice was calm and detached as she opened the marriage certificate and waved it in front of Jaziel and Nolan.

Theodore, equally composed, wrapped an arm around Charlotte's waist and nodded politely at them.

"Hello, let me introduce myself. I'm Charlotte's husband. My name is Theodore."

His light amber eyes gave Jaziel and Nolan a cursory glance, carrying a natural air of superiority, as though he didn't consider them worth his attention.

Jaziel's pupils contracted, and a wave of anger rose uncontrollably within him.

Struggling to suppress his emotions, he fixed his gaze on Charlotte, his voice tense with restraint.

"Charlotte, stop this nonsense. Are you jealous? Be good-you're not serious about this. Get a

divorce. You must've acted on impulse and haven't thought this through."

As he spoke, Jaziel reached for Charlotte's hand, trying to pull her back into the marriage registration office.

Nolan quickly stepped in to block Theodore.

"Mr. Washington, what gives you the right to marry Charlotte? Do you even understand her? Do you know her favorite things? Her little habits? Do you love her?"

He shouted impulsively, even pressing a hand on Theodore's shoulder.

Theodore remained unfazed, easily shrugging off Nolan's grip.

"Mr. Nolan, Charlotte and I can grow our feelings over time. A marriage-first, love-later arrangement isn't so bad.

But as for you and Mr. Jaziel-haven't you two failed to resolve your own issues? From what I hear, you're still entangled with Sophie. So, what exactly qualifies you to compete with me?" As he spoke, he dusted his shoulder disdainfully, as though offended by Nolan's touch.

Hearing Sophie's name, Jaziel and Nolan hesitated.

"We... we only feel sorry for Sophie. We don't have any other intentions toward her," Nolan quickly defended.

Charlotte pulled her hand free from Jaziel's grip and stood firmly beside Theodore. Her tone

was icy.

"Enough, Jaziel, Nolan. You don't need to explain yourselves to me."

"From the moment I left Miami, we had nothing to do with each other anymore."

Her expression was distant, as if she were looking at strangers.

"Whether you like Sophie or not, it has nothing to do with me. Don't come looking for me again. New Orleans isn't your territory."

As her words fell, Theodore snapped his fingers. A row of bodyguards in matching uniforms appeared.

"Escort them back to Miami. Make sure they don't get another chance to come to New

Orleans," he ordered.

Theodore's words clearly reflected Charlotte's intentions.

She didn't refute him, her silence a tacit agreement.

Nolan couldn't believe what was happening. He struggled furiously, his bloodshot eyes wide

with desperation.

Charlotte! You can't leave with him! Come back to Miami with us. We'll treat you well. We can go back to the way things were, can't we?"
