Forsaking the Years of Longing -
Forsaking Billionaire 22
Chapter 22
Sophie stubbornly knelt outside the villa for an entire day and night before finally collapsing from exhaustion. When she woke up, she was not greeted by Jaziel or Nolan, but found herself back in her rented apartment. Outside the room, she could hear Liam and Emma discussing in hushed tones.
"We should head home today. We can't stay here any longer," Emma said anxiously. "Sophie won't stay obedient. She's got legs-she'll run off again. We should leave while she's still unconscious." Liam agreed with a curt nod. "Alright."
Just as they pushed the door open, Sophie jolted awake. She scrambled to her feet and dashed out as fast as she could, grabbing her phone but leaving her shoes behind.
She didn't know where to go or who to turn to anymore. Jaziel and Nolan had completely abandoned her.
In her panic, Sophie suddenly thought of Charlotte.
"That's it! She's so kind, so softhearted-she'll definitely forgive me!"
Without hesitation, Sophie boarded a train to New Orleans to find Charlotte.
When Jaziel and Nolan learned of this, they immediately sent people to intercept Sophie and stop her from reaching Charlotte.
After all, if even they hadn't had the chance to see Charlotte, there was no way they would let Sophie get to her first.
Their men discovered several groups of people sent by Theodore to keep tabs on them in
Miami.
But in Miami, Jaziel and Nolan were the ones in charge.
In a show of defiance, Nolan led his men to break the arms and legs of Theodore's spies and sent them back to the Washington family as a warning.
Jaziel wasn't idle either. He planted operatives in New Orleans to ensure that the next time they went, they wouldn't face the same helplessness as before.
Today marked Jaziel and Nolan's fifth visit to Grace's house to apologize.
"Aunt Grace, we really know we were wrong," Jaziel said, feigning sincerity. "We've thought it through and let go of our feelings for Charlotte. We just want to attend her wedding-as her older brothers, nothing more." Nolan nodded emphatically, putting on his most innocent expression.
"Aunt Grace, please grant us this small wish. After knowing Charlotte for so many years, we don't want to miss her wedding."
"We've accepted that we can't be with her," Nolan continued, his tone somber. "We've prepared ourselves for that long ago. Even if it weren't Theodore, if Charlotte had chosen one of us, the other would still have been heartbroken." "All we want is the chance to attend her wedding. Please, Aunt Grace, help us just this once."
Grace looked at the two young men, clearly torn.
She knew the mistakes they had made, as well as Charlotte's feelings. But having watched Jaziel and Nolan grow up, her heart softened despite herself.
They had come to her repeatedly, and even the hardest heart couldn't remain unmoved forever.
With a deep sigh, Grace finally relented. "Alright, you two... I'll ask Charlotte, but I can't promise she'll agree."
Hearing this, Jaziel and Nolan expressed their gratitude immediately.
"Thank you, Aunt Grace. That's all we could hope for. Thank you for your help."
After seeing them off, Grace deliberated for a long time before finally sending a message to
Charlotte.
"Charlotte, Jaziel and Nolan said they want to attend your wedding. What do you think?
Should I let them come?"
