Chapter 490
John gazed darkly at her, still quiet.
Unfazed by his reaction, Olivia continued saying, "Has it ever occurred to you that even if your wife is still alive, she might not want to see you?
"You said you hurt her so much that she never forgave you until she died."
She looked at him coldly and asked, "What makes you think she'll forgive you if she comes back from the dead?"
As soon as she finished, she felt John's body tremble, and his expression stiffened slightly.
Somehow, seeing him like this gave her some comfort.
"It's impossible to pretend that nothing has happened when you can't recover from the pain you have experienced and the damage you have suffered.
"If she were still alive, she would try her best to avoid you and never see you again. Because it is the only way to start over again."
With that said, she pressed her lips together and sneered. "Even if you loved her deeply, she would never come near you again if you had hurt and disappointed her enough. "Because no one wants to repeat the same mistake."
John shuddered as he stiffened, feeling a pang of pain in his heart.
'Is that why she pretended she didn't know me?
'So she won't make the same mistakes?"
He narrowed his long, narrow eyes and suddenly pulled her into his arms, coldly saying, "What makes you think that? Do you know her well?"
Startled, Olivia pushed him frantically. "I don't know her, but I know disappointment and despair."
"Why?"
Instead of letting go, John grabbed harder.
Olivia did not expect him to be so strong when he was already badly injured.
"Let go!"
"Why? Answer me!"
Olivia looked up at him, momentarily dazed.
The cold tone and insidious eyes made her feel like she was transported back to four years ago.
She gulped in fear and even stopped struggling.
She dared not move, afraid that John's hand would land on her face the next second.
It was unknown if John noticed her sudden silence and awkwardness. His expression froze, and he let go of her hand.
"I'm sorry."
Without the restraints, Olivia lost her center of gravity and nearly stumbled. John reached out to help her, but she dodged him.
She trembled and caught onto the windowsill behind her.
After a few seconds, she did not look up at him. Fighting her fear, she said, "Mr. Freeman, I'll see you when you've calmed down. I gotta go first."
With that said, she bypassed him, pushed the door open, and hurried away.
Looking at her back, John felt a tightness in his chest and also felt dizzy. He staggered and leaned on the glass with his left hand, gasping for breath.
However, it was an old problem, and he was already used to it.
However, she...
On the other hand, Olivia dared not stop after storming out of the ward.
In her panic, she seemed to bump into someone, but she did not have time to explain. She ran out, hailed a taxi, and got in.
She was afraid.
She was afraid of the angry John. She was afraid of returning to the past and being the caged bird without freedom again.
The taxi driver could not help but frown when he saw her pale face and shivering. "Miss, don't run from treatment. You should treat your illness in time. It's pointless to run away." Olivia did not catch what he said. She only heard the last sentence-"It's pointless to run away."
'I can't run?
'Am I supposed to tell John that I'm Olivia?
'Is there any other choice besides running?"
Something in her head told her there was another way....
Shaking her head, she said tearfully, "No. No!"
