Her Forever
Chapter 17

Legend of Pineville Creek

Thousands of years ago, when the world was still young with human life, gods and goddesses alike enjoyed watching their small creations. It took all of their power to work together to create a species that they could watch flourish.

They wished to watch creatures that looked a lot like themselves, but a simpler version. They wanted them to have no supernatural powers, no strength above their own. The gods wanted to see without powers if they would be more loving creatures, unlike themselves.

In reality, gods always wanted power, fighting amongst themselves and bickering for all eternity. Was there a creature they could create that still had its own agency and choose love over hate?

Unfortunately, humans were created with all of their combined forces, but ultimately, many were with hate, selfishness, and even strived to have power. Many gods wished to destroy the humans, especially those who wished to cheat on their significant others. Humans were so frail; they could never say no to the attraction of a god.

The gods argued about ridding them, but many refused, saying how they could destroy all the creatures when there were only a few that were evil. They were, after all, created by the gods themselves, so inherently, they would have some evil in them.

As time went on, many gods took small amounts of humans and experimented with them. Many suffered and even died, but that did not deter them from trying to create a being that would ultimately destroy the human race.

With this experimentation, vampires, faes, witches, and warlocks were created as well as many others. As with the humans, these species also had good and evil within them.

Humans started to realize that their existence was in jeopardy, so many of the strongest gathered together and started training to fight. These human warriors took many years to train themselves and help countless humans in villages across the land. The warrior numbers never dwindled, but humanity was on the brink of extinction.

Ares, the God of War, took notice of these large human warriors. He appreciated how fearlessly they fought to protect those who were innocent. Ares took flight and landed in the middle of their training, and all the warriors bowed.

Ares was large compared to even the largest human. Ares was donned with no clothing on his upper body; battle scars were strewn across his muscular chest. The armor he wore covered the tops of his shoulders, and his sword hung on his back.

Ares then blessed the warriors with a gift. The gift of shifting. The favorite animal that Ares donned on his battle shield was a wolf, and that is what he granted his warriors.

The warriors could feel the strength in their bones, their eyesight was magnified, and their sense of smell was heightened—the ultimate warrior.

Many battles were fought and soon became known as the ‘werewolves.’ Once the battles had died down, humanity flourished, humans became scared of the supernatural, and so they went into hiding, for this world was created for them, not the supernaturals.

With no wars to fight, werewolves became restless. Their inner wolves craved b***d. At times, the race could not control their inner wolves and lose control.

Seeing how the War God of Ares created werewolves, Selene, The Goddess of the Moon, descended into their pack. She would present them with the ultimate gift for protecting humans and soothe their beasts.

Selene gifted the werewolves a soulmate. Ares could not give a full soul onto his creatures because of the wolf inside them, but Selene could complete it. Each werewolf would be blessed with a mate, the other part of their soul.

Once together, they would balance each other. They would become infatuated and ease the war cries from their wolves. With each mate comes to a balance, and every werewolf was to be gifted one.

Selene, the Moon Goddess, specifically picks each werewolf’s mate. Nothing is to chance, and it is always purposeful.

This is the land of where the Goddess herself has supposedly descended on. It has been known by many names, but today it is known as Pineville Creek.

Sadie

Everyone erupted in applause and headed into the woods back to the lake house to continue the party. As people left, Rebecca leaned into my ear and asked how I liked the legend.

“I love the part about soulmates!” I gushed. “I wish it were true! Too bad it was just for a make-believe legend about werewolves, huh?” I blushed.

“What if it was true?” Rebecca replied. “The whole werewolf and soul-mate thing?” She was looking all too eager for an answer when I didn’t reply right away. I’m still feeling a bit dizzy from the shots I had earlier.

“Hmmm. Well, I’ve never seen one, and no one I know has seen one that I know of. It would be kind of exciting but scary too at first, I’m sure.” Rebecca nodded while Seth squeezed me a little tighter and put his head in the crook of my neck.

What is up with all this newfound confidence I have? I’ve never let a guy hold me like this before, but it all seems so comfortable, so right. I could stay like this until morning.

“And I think the soul mate thing is so lovely. Like, you just wait for your mate to show up, you don’t have to go get into relationships that mean nothing, and you could ‘save’ yourself for each other!” I continued to gush and blush at the same time.

Lela started choking on the drink that was in her red cup. “I’m sorry, I missed that?”

“You know, save all of yourself for your mate. People do a lot of casual s*x to find the person they are supposed to be with. With mates, you don’t have to do that! No heartbreak and jealousy!” I smiled.

It makes sense to me, why fool around with other people when you know the person made for you is out there, and a goddess granted someone for you? Why would you go and waste your body on someone else? I swear if someone says they want the experience, so they can please their mate, I might choke.

However, mates aren’t really real, are they? Not in the whole werewolf and goddess concept. It was a pleasant story that I wish was true, and it was for humans as well.

Seth poked up out of my neck while Ethan, Raylina, Marco, Rebecca, and Lela looked at me with confused faces. Was it something I said? Did I upset someone? I was feeling uncomfortable and was about to get up from Seth’s lap, but he wouldn’t let me go.

He looked sad and disappointed when I looked in his eyes. Did I hurt him? Did I offend all of them? But how?

“I’m sorry,” I started. “I didn’t mean to say that having s*x before marriage is bad. I just thought if there were mates or soul mates, you just wouldn’t. This is just all hypothetical, anyway! And who knows, maybe the werewolves did things before they met their mates-who knows how long they live for, right? Maybe some take a long time to find their mate?…” I trailed off. Why am I fighting this? It was a legend.

“It’s just a silly legend; I’m sorry I was overthinking.” I finally got out of Seth’s hold. Everyone was still staring at me, so I just walked away. I don’t know what I said wrong, but the uncomfortable stares were getting to me.

I crossed my arms to keep warm and headed back to the lake house. I suddenly feel so cold now that Seth isn’t with me. I’m terrified that he will just leave me alone after all of this, and now that my body craves his touch, I’m not sure if I can handle that.

Seth

Sadie looked so beautiful in the firelight. She was made to be outdoors. I could feel the warmth from her cheeks when she rubbed them on my shoulder as we listened to the legend.

Little did she know it was all true. Every bit. It wasn’t hard to get everyone in the pack to realize that Sadie was human and that the mention of Alpha or anything related to werewolves being real was not to be spoken.

Sadie was going to need a little time to be eased into this. However, I think she will take it easier than I was expecting. She even thought it would be amazing to see a werewolf if they were real. Scary, but exciting, as she put it.

I couldn’t help but be quiet as she was talking to Rebecca; she was trying to get a feel of how Sadie felt about the legend. I feel like she is open to know more, but once she talks about mates and waiting to share your body with just your destined one, throws us all off.

Werewolves are s****l creatures; is it uncontrollable? No, it can be controlled. We just hate to wait. Males do go through a rut where their s****l senses are heightened, and it only gets worse if there is a female in heat. Therefore we have designated houses for ruts and heat. Lucky for us, it only happens twice a year.

Could it be avoided to not have s*x? Yeah, it can, but it is hard, and even I succumbed to it. We are party animals; it is in our nature. Plus, having power from Ares doesn’t help, either. It is said he was quite the party animal.

After Sadie spoke, she immediately regretted saying it out loud. She is worried she made a huge mistake speaking her mind about saving herself for someone you love in a committed relationship. I think it is f*****g adorable, and I’m so glad I will have her all to myself.

The first and last person to touch her.

Will she be hurt when she realizes I’m not as pure as her? Will she reject me? Just the thought of it makes my wolf and I hurt. My chest feels constricted and tight.

Sadie is so pure, innocent, and all things of grace. She never wanted to hurt them or me.

She stood up and walked off because we were all so shocked by what she said. Because honestly, it made sense. Werewolves are horny bastards, and there are people in the lake house right now messing with each other because they are depressed about not finding their mates.

I clenched my fists together, got up, and swung at the closest tree, making it topple to the ground.

“Seth, wait, she will accept you,” Rebecca called out.

“Yeah, man, you are the only one she has let come close.” Marco explains. “Nathan tried, and she kept saying she was waiting on someone special, meant for her.”

“So what? We all have had our nights of fun; now that your mate is here, she will understand. You are f*****g 125 years old; everyone makes mistakes. You haven’t even been with another for at least 50 years.” Ethan said, while putting his hand on my shoulder. “She was made for you, and both of you are to accept each other’s flaws.”

“Ha, here is the thing.” I started. “She has no flaws; she’s perfect.”

“Maybe that is how the goddess wanted it; you are supposed to balance each other out,” Lela whispered.

To be the balance, it made sense. Lela could be dense at times, but the words she spoke rung true. The Goddess always has a plan and the beast in me needs a bit of light. Finding her today, touching her skin and feeling the sparks fly across my fingertips made Caspian howl in joy. I wanted to show her love, show her a life I could give her. She would be worshiped as a Luna. I could see pups swarming her at the end of a long day in their schooling.

Imagining her in her apron, handing out the food that she loves to create, and coming in with the sweat on my brow from training our warriors. Giving her a heated k**s as she wraps her arms around my neck. How many pups would she really want? Did she want any at all? I would massage her feet every night as they swell during her pregnancies, wait on her hand and foot.

Bedding her every night, having her squeal and whimper as taste her glorious breasts that will feed our pups. It was so damn erotic that she could both feed and keep my s****l desires for her at the same time with those breasts. I’d make up every wrong I’ve ever done in my life to make sure she was happy.

Damn, the bond was wickedly strong. If I had known a bond this deep, I would have continued to look for her and not gave up. I would have scanned every werewolf mixer and gathering until I turned 500 years old just to find her. However, she found me. She found me at the bar drinking my sorrows away and I just about almost her because of my thick damn skull.

Rebecca mentioned how she was drawn to me there. I had been too ignorant to read the signs of my wolf. A human found her mate before her mate ever realized it. I scoffed at myself as I hung my head low.

I would have to make it up to her. I would make it up to her for the rest of eternity.
