Her Revenge Contract
Chapter 110

Katherine's POV

"Found it!" Greyson yelled excitedly down the hallway, and I could hear him hurry toward my office.

I met him halfway just outside my office door, and he had the widest smile I have ever seen on his face.

Greyson held a blue file in his hand with the word 'confidential' written on it, and my eyes lit up, and excitement immediately bubbled inside me.

Oh, Goddess, tell me that is the last piece of the puzzle! Oh, Goddess, please!

Although Xavier and I weren't talking, I knew he was still actively involved behind the scenes; I just didn't know what was bothering him, and he refused to tell me. "Luna," Greyson greeted, handing me the file.

I was ready to see what he had found, and a small, embarrassing giggle escaped my lips.

"Uhm, Luna," Greyson said, stopping me from immediately opening the file. A warning crossed his eyes, and I knew it must be bad.

"Just be warned that even though you can refute Rose with the information that's in that file, it can also get you in trouble. The judge may ask you where you got it and might even hold you accountable."

I was a bit startled by what Greyson was saying, yet I couldn't wait to see what was inside.

"I understand," I said, and I quickly opened the file to retrieve the papers inside.

My gaze scanned the first page, my eyes widening, and a surprised gasp left my lips.

Was he kidding me?

I turned the page over to read the next page, and my eyes widened even more.

"I guess you are happy with the contents?" Greyson asked, and I nodded.

I was ecstatic at the information the few pages held.

That was it!

The last piece of the puzzle

I sighed, relieved, thanked him, and headed to my office.

With the money laundering case dragging on and Rose manipulating the media, my position at the company was in jeopardy, and the company's stock value had dropped to its limit.

It was only a matter of days before we would have to file for liquidation.

I sighed.

I knew that was what Rose was aiming for, and as long as she could get rid of me and she and her daughter survived, she didn't care if the company closed its doors or not; she didn't care how many employees could lose their jobs. It was now a game of who wanted it most and who could dig up enough dirt.

Another breath escaped my lips as I placed the file on my desk.

I stared at it in disbelief.

This was going to be a huge risk.

The biggest risk I will ever take in my life-this file was such a huge risk to take that the end result will make or break me.

It was a risk I had no choice but to take.

I knew what the consequences would be if I lost the court case. Erika and Rose would immediately take over the company and do as they please, but if I won...

A smile slowly crept onto my lips at the possibility of them being behind bars. And an image sprang alive in my mind where I could see Rose and Erika wearing orange overalls.

"I can live with that," Kia mused, and I chuckled at her comment.

I didn't have any other choice but to play the cards that I was dealt-time was running out and I didn't have much left. In less than two hours, the hearing for the money laundering case will be heard, and this file is now the key to my success in winning. Around ten a.m., Greyson drove me to the courthouse, and a crowd of reporters was already waiting outside, taking pictures.

Greyson found a parking spot and opened the passenger door for me.

I got out, and a group of reporters rushed our way.

I growled under my breath, and Greyson gave me a concerned look. Then a smile followed on his lips.

"I did warn you, Luna," he said, referring to the bodyguards he organized, and I respectfully declined.

"It is still annoying," I growled at him, yet Greyson thought it was funny. I rolled my eyes at him and crossed my arms around my waist, then started to follow behind Greyson toward the entrance.

The reporters were all Erika and Rose's fault; Erika wanted an open trial so that all the news reporters could attend, and Rose made sure she invited every one of them to the hearing.

Once inside, I followed Greyson down the hallway to the last door-the auditorium was arranged to accommodate all the people attending the hearing.

"Are you ready, Luna?" Greyson asked.

I nodded, and he opened the door for me. My eyes widened, seeing how huge the room was and how many people came to sit and listen to the proceedings. My gaze moved over the sea of people and landed on my so-called family. They were already sitting and waiting for the proceedings to start at their table.

Rose turned her head when she heard the door open, and when she saw me, she looked a bit bored. Erika quickly turned her head to look at what her mother was looking at, and her facial expression turned from curiosity to disgust.

I ignored them, even though I felt a bit scared. This was a bit intimidating.

I shivered, suddenly feeling cold, yet I kept my composure.

"You have gone through worse things than a court hearing," Kia said. "You've got this. I believe in you!"

Kia was right; I can't back down now, not after I have come this far.

I lifted my chin and followed Greyson down to my seat.

My gaze moved over all the people inside, and I found Xavier sitting in the front row.

He looked a bit pained, and my heart skipped a beat seeing him like that.

I wish he would tell me what was bothering him.

"All rise!" A court officer called, and an old judge in his late sixties walked in.

I took a whiff of his scent, noticing that he was human.

I turned my head toward Xavier, and our gazes locked.

Did he influence this to ensure a fair trial?

A small smile followed on Xavier's lips, and I slowly shook my head.

"Defendant, do you plead guilty to the charges presented here today?" the judge asked calmly.

I raised my chin slightly and looked directly at the judge and then the jury.

"You honor," I said in a clear and confident voice, "I plead not guilty. Neither I nor my father did those things as a state."

"Can you prove it?" He asked calmly and lifted his gaze, looking over his reading glasses at me. "If you have any evidence supporting that you are not involved in money laundering or any criminal activities, please submit it now. If not, the current evidence provided will be used, and you will be judged by it."

I turned my head to where Xavier sat in the crowd, and he nodded slightly.

"I have evidence," I answered.

Greyson got to his feet, turned toward the door, and nodded at the person standing at the door.

The court door flung open and a person from the forensic department walked in.

"Please submit your evidence, Ms. King," the judge said.

Greyson took the file from the forensic person, scooped up the rest of the documentation on our table, and walked to where the judge sat.

"Ms. King," the judge said, pinning his gaze on me, "please inform the court what evidence you are submitting."

"Yes, your honor," I said, and I took a deep breath. "The evidence I am submitting today is proof that my father, Andrew King, and I were not involved in any criminal activity or money laundering. The evidence proves that John King, my uncle, was solely involved in these activities. His signature is on the receipts."

"Is that all, Ms. King?" the judge asked.

"No, your honor," I said, "there are also audio recordings as proof..." As soon as my words left my lips, the reporters were in an uproar.

Rose's eyes widened, and Erika sat up in shock.

The judge gestured to the court officer, and he immediately blocked Erika from getting up and leaving. The judge then turned back to me and gestured for me to proceed.

"I also have evidence of a series of criminal activities, such as the murder, assassination, and blackmail of the former King Group Acting CEO John King, his wife Rose, and daughter Erika."

"Is that all?" the Judge asked, shifting his head to the side.

"No sir," I said, "I also have witnesses and forensic reports on who murdered my father and mother, Andrew and Lidia King. All the evidence points to John and his family, Rose, and Erika King."
