Dante wants to take Jennie to work. Jennie is used to being independent, and she does not like Dante taking over her life, but she loves him, and she knows he is overprotective of the ones he loves. Jennie looks at Dante with a sigh. Dante frowns as he hears the sigh. What did he do wrong? Why is Jennie looking at him like he did something wrong? Dante can see that Jennie is irritated, and he does not understand. He knows his mother gets annoyed with his father a lot when he gets too bossy or too jealous. It is in their b***d. The Casella men can not help wanting to protect what is theirs. They are warm-blooded men and jealous of their women.

“You want to go to work by yourself?” Dante asks.

“Yes, I love you, Dante, but you do not have to always look out for me. I have been alone for eight years, and nothing happened to me. I am also not interested in other men, and you do not have to be jealous. I stayed loyal to you for eight years. No other man could take your place in my heart. So, give me a little freedom,” Jennie answers.

“I know all that, but do you know how many enemies I have? They could try to harm you, and some will try to take you away from me to get back at me,” Dante says.

“You have to trust me as I trust you. My father and brother trained me to protect myself against their enemies from a young age. I will not let any man come between us. Damn, Dante, look at you! You are all a woman wants,” Jennie says to Dante.

“Well, I do not care what women want. I care about what you want! I do not like you driving alone or letting my enemies find out that you are not protected. What if someone follows you to work and finds you are an easy target there? I am putting security in place to protect you and the children. The children already have bodyguards looking after them at school. I want you to have a guard as well,” Dante says.

“Over my dead body! I will not be able to work with someone standing guard over me! I can look after myself, Dante! It is the end of this discussion. I never want to hear about a bodyguard for me. I am glad you are protecting the children, though,” Jennie says as she starts walking out of the house to her car. Dante is not used to being disobeyed, and he is unhappy. Jennie needs to know he is doing it to protect her. Dante sends his best security officer to watch Jennie’s office. He can not take chances with the life of the woman he loves so much. He also does not want other men near her. Jennie is well aware of Dante’s security officer following her. She bites on her teeth and starts driving like a maniac. Jennie had learned from her father and brother to drive like that to shake someone tailing her. After a few minutes, her phone starts ringing, and she sees Dante calling her.

“What? I can not talk now,” Jennie answers the phone.

“It is because you are driving like a bloody maniac, Jennie! You are going to kill yourself. Drive slower. It is only my security following you,” Dante says, annoyed.

“I told you not to send you guards after me!” Jennie says. She slows down, but she hopes she has scared Dante enough not to send someone after her in the future.

“Okay, I will call him back, but stop driving like that!” Dante says.

“Fine! Now stop sending people to look after me like I am a baby,” Jennie says as she drives slower to her office.

“I am trying to protect you. Damn, Jennie, I love you! I can not think about my life without you. That is the only reason I am trying to protect you,” Dante explains his actions.

“I said I can protect myself, Dante. I love you, but I have survived eight years without your protection,” Jennie says stubbornly.

“I get it, but the newspapers and social media is full of photos of the two of us last night at Enzo’s party. So be careful, and I hope the media leaves you alone for your sake. Can you handle them by yourself?” Dante asks.

“I will handle them when it comes to it,” Jennie says, hoping she does not have to handle the media. However, Jennie is shy and not used to being surrounded by media and the paparazzi. So she does not know how she will handle it when she has to.

Jennie’s heart starts racing as she stops in front of her office and sees the media waiting for her. Dante is watching her from his SUV parked nearby to see if Jennie can handle the media or if she might need his help. He knows she is stubborn, but he will not leave her when she needs him. Jennie pulls herself together. She is not afraid of a few people with cameras and microphones! Damn, her father is the head of the Russian Mafia! Her father has trained her to get out of situations. She can handle this. As she steps out of her car, the media surrounds her.

“Miss Petrov, is it true that you are the mother of Dante Hudson’s twins?” One shout. Jennie keeps her cool and tries to walk to her office, but the media blocks her path.

“Miss Petrov, how long did you know Mr Hudson?” Another one shouts. Jennie stops and turns to the reporters and the paparazzi.

“I have known Dante since we were children. Yes, he is the father of my twins, and yes, we are a couple. But, please, can you take your photos and let me get to work? It is no secret that we have seen each other, and I don’t think there is much news here for you,” Jennie says politely.

“You are very polite to us, Miss Petrov. Not many people are so kind to the media,” One reporter says as they make way for her to enter her office.

“You do not have to speculate about me. All you have to do is ask me. Then, when Dante and I decide to become more than a couple, we will let you know,” Jennie says with a smile, and the reports fall in love with this kind woman.

“Mr Hudson is not as open about his private life as you are. He always shies away from the media. Is Mr Hudson a good partner, or is he as cold as he is towards the rest of the world?” One reporter asks.

“He has his reasons for keeping his life private. His family is famous, and they do not like too much attention. I love him, and I understand him, and he loves the children and me. He is not cold at all at home. Understanding each other is all that matters in a relationship. We trust each other, and for me, that is enough. Oh, and one more thing, please do not involve my children in this. That is all I ask of you,” Jennie says as she enters her office. The media leaves as there is no sensational story here. Instead, they love the young woman and respect her for being open to them. They love how she addresses them like she is one of them and not above them, although it is evident that she is a successful woman and has money. She has a fast-growing company but is still down to earth. Dante sees all of this and watches what she says on his cellphone. He can not believe Jennie got the media to eat out of her hand so fast. She is indeed one remarkable woman as not one of the media outlets of anyone on social media has a bad word to say about her.

Dante can not help to feel proud of her. Jennie even admitted in public that she is in a relationship with him, and she does not care who sees it and who doesn’t. Jennie is brave, that is for sure. On the other hand, his enemies already know she is his as he claimed her last night. So what if she admitted it? It is not like everyone does not know about it anyway. She acknowledged the twins as his and admitted knowing him since they were children. Dante smiles. She told the whole world that she loved him and would stand by his side no matter what. He is proud of the woman Jennie is. She also showed his enemies she was not afraid of them. Dante’s phone rings, and it is Jen. She is excited about what Jennie said. She can not believe her future daughter-in-law is so brave. Jennie is exceptional and close to Jen’s heart.

“Dante, if you break her heart, I will kill you myself,” Jen says as Dante picks up his phone.

“Wow, okay, mom, hello to you too,” Dante says.

“Look after her, Dante. Jennie is one in a million,” Jen says, sounding not so aggressive.

“I will, mom. I knew she was one in a million eight years ago, and I am not planning on ever hurting her or my children, but I think she is a bit angry with me for being overprotective,” Dante says.

“Well, fix it. You are a man and should know how to handle an angry woman,” Jen says. They talk for a while longer, then Dante says goodbye and hangs up. Dante is afraid there will be media and paparazzi waiting outside the school when it is time to fetch the children at school, but to his surprise, the press and paparazzi are nowhere near the school. He realises how much they respect Jennie, and he is amazed. Well, it looks like the media and even the hated paparazzi have respect for Jennie and her one request. Dante feels proud of Jennie again. He picks up the children, and they are all quiet. Not one of them says a word.

“So when were you and mom going to tell us, dad? Why are the children always the last to know?” Jayden asks. Dante is stunned. What is Jayden talking about?

“What?” Dante asks. The kids look all angry at him.

“You know about you and mom and that you are a couple now,” Jayda says.

“Well, we were planning on surprising you tonight, but I guess you saw it on social media,” Dante says, stunned that the children are so mad.

“Yeah, we had to see it on social media, dad,” Jack says. He is calling Jennie and Dante mom and dad like the twins. The twins and Jennie told him he should since he is now their brother and son.

“Well, do not be mad at me! I did nothing wrong. I told your mother last night I loved her and you saw us at the party together. You should have known,” Dante says in self-defence.

“You should have told us first,” Jayda says, her arms folded and her little mouth puffed up.

“I am disappointed in the two of you, dad,” Jayden says. The three refuse to talk to Dante, and Dante does not know what to do. Everything he tries does not work, and the three of them stays mad. Finally, when Jennie comes home from work, Dante sits alone in the sitting room.

“Where are the children?” Jennie asks. Usually, they will be around Dante playing with him.

“In their rooms. Refusing to talk to me as they found out about us on social media, and now they are upset with the two of us,” Dante says. Jennie smiles. She can imagine them giving Dante a hard time. As the three of them hears their mom, they come downstairs and glares at her.

“So what do you two have to say for yourselves, mom and dad,” Jayden says. He is not ready to leave it there.

“Listen, babies, we wanted to tell you tonight. But unfortunately, the media ambushed me, and I had to admit everything. We are a family now. So does it matter how you found out? Daddy is moving in with us, and we will be complete,” Jennie tries.

“That is no excuse. We are your children, and you should have told us first,” Jayda says.

“Yes, what she said,” Jack says.

“Okay, what will it take to make you forgive us?” Jennie asks. She knows the children by now.

“We want an X-box and PlayStation for Jack so that he can play games with us and a gaming PC for all three of us,” Jayden says.

“Okay, you will get what you want tomorrow. Stop being mad. It upsets me to see my children mad at me,” Dante says. Jennie laughs as she knows the children are not mad. They only wanted PCs and to get Jack hooked up.

“Now that the negotiations are over, I am going to cook us dinner, and you can have ice cream for dessert tonight,” Jennie says. She knows her children and loves them for being so sly and getting what they want from their father. She leaves Dante as he never had a chance to spoil their children, and since Jack is now part of their family and has suffered so much, Jennie does not care that they are getting their way. Well, this time.
