His Destructive, Toxic Love -
Chapter 462
Eliza glanced at the name on her phone and decided she didn't want to stir the pot. She let it blink on the table, opting for silence. The caller on the other end seemed to have the patience of a saint, as the screen lit up and dimmed, ringing over and over before finally going silent.
"BAM!"
The door to the private dining room flew open.
"I wondered why you weren't picking up my calls," Susan's voice crackled with anger, her face so dark it looked like it could drip ink. "So, you really are here." She looked terrible.
Aaron had told her that Casper was heading to Oak Falls to meet Eliza. Initially, she brushed it off as Aaron's nonsense. But now, it seemed far from that. There they were, looking like a happy little family. What did that make her? A joke? "Casper, everyone in Falconridge knows you're engaged to me, and here you are meeting your ex-wife. You're not just slapping the Torres family in the face, you're slapping your own. What are you, trying to be a modern-day Casanova?" Casper's irritation with Susan's sudden appearance was palpable. Her brazen words only made it worse. Beneath his cold exterior, his dark eyes grew even icier.
"Get out," he commanded.
Susan was taken aback, disbelief written all over her face. "You're telling me to leave? Casper, you're really throwing respect out the window. Fine, I insisted on this engagement because I liked you, but if you don't want it, let's just end it." She slammed the door, the sound echoing down the hallway. Taking a few steps away, she stealthily reached into her elegant purse, her fingers brushing against a small glass bottle...
The bottle contained the pills Aaron
had given her. She never thought
there'd come a day when she couldn't swallow her pride. Well, if
she was going down, they were all going down with her.
Susan approached the front desk and ordered two freshly squeezed juices. While the server was busy, she discreetly dropped the pills into the drinks.
"Please deliver these to Room 202,"
she said, slipping the server a generous two-hundred-dollar tip. The bills tipped lightly between her fingers, "A friend of mine had at
misunderstanding with the foun
in
that room, and she asked me to send these as an apology. Just tell them it's on the house. Thanks for your help."
The server quickly caught on. According to hotel policy, she needed some details. "Alright, Miss. How should I address your friend?"
"Umm... His last name is Fee. You can put him down as Mr. Aaron."
"Got it," the server nodded, jotting down the information.
Soon, the carefully prepared juices were delivered to Casper's reserved room. No one paid much attention to the new arrivals. When Brock saw the juice, he eagerly ran over, reaching for it.
Just as he was about to grab it, Eliza gently stopped him. "Brock, remember how your tummy hurt last time you had juice?"
Brock's hand froze mid-air. He blinked, looking a bit let down but then obediently pulled back his hand, licking his dry lips. "Oh, okay."
Casper gently pulled the little guy into his arms, carefully placing a piece of dessert on his plate. "Try this, it's really sweet. Drinking some water is just as good as juice."
"Okay," the little guy agreed, being impeccably well-behaved.
Worried that Brock might sneak a
sip when she wasn't looking, and finding it a waste to pour it away, Eliza frowned slightly and eventually decided to try a sip herself. Strangely, after drinking it, she felt even more parched.
