He knew exactly what would happen if she went to see Casper. Wasn't he worried about losing her? "...What if I go and can't come back? Then you'd have no daughter." "How could that be?" Ronan looked to Dillon for reassurance, "Dillon, that won't happen, will it?"

Dillon gave a slight smile he couldn't answer that.

Reluctantly, Susan was forced to follow Dillon. As they neared Casper's car, her heart clenched with fear.

"Ms. Susan, please get in the car," Dillon said, opening the door.

Swallowing nervously, Susan glanced at the man inside the car, hesitating, "Do I really have to?"

"Ms. Susan, please," Dillon insisted.

With no other choice, Susan braced herself and got into the car. It slowly rolled onto the road.

Casper didn't say a word or even look at Susan. Several times, she wanted to explain why she drugged Eliza, but seeing Casper's glacial expression, she swallowed her words.

The tense, icy atmosphere persisted all the way to the living room of Welton Estate. Casper lounged on the sofa, legs crossed, a cigarette glowing red at the tip, smoke curling around him.

"Enjoy drugging people, do you?" Casper tossed a solid gold lighter onto the coffee table, the sound sharp in the silence.

Susan's heart skipped a beat as she opened her mouth to explain.

Casper took another drag from his cigarette, "Ms. Susan, you're quite the bold one, aren't you?"

"I..."

Before she could continue, Dillon stepped forward, placing several bottles on the table.

"Pick one," Casper's voice was colder than the winter wind outside.

Susan didn't understand what they were, but fear tightened her chest, "What? Pick one?" Casper lifted a finger.

Dillon then meticulously introduced each one "Ms. Susan, we have five options here: aphrodisiac, hallucinogen, diuretic, bone-piercing powder, and flesh-eating bug. Where would you like to start?"

Susan's eyes widened in shock. Start with which one? Was he going to make her take all of them?

"Casper, you can't do this. I know I shouldn't have drugged Eliza, but I was angry because you two were sneaking around. Please, don't do this..." Susan's legs gave out, and she collapsed to the floor. The floor was cold, but not as cold as Casper's heart.

She looked at him with despair, hoping he would show mercy.

Casper tapped his cigarette into an elegant ashtray, "What? Are you scared now?"

"Casper, I'm only twenty, just a foolish kid. Can't you let it go? I

can..." Susan crawled to him, clutching his legs, her eyes

brimming with tears, "...I can get my dad to pay you. Please, let me go."

"Let you go?"

QUMS

Casper seemed to find this amusing. His lips curled slightly, and he lifted his chin, "Hand."

Confused, Susan held out her hand. Casper's long fingers, still holding the cigarette, turned the lit end downward and pressed it into her palm. The burning pain was excruciating, and Susan screamed, "Ah..."

Tears streamed down her face as she shook her hand frantically. The cigarette flew out, already extinguished.

"Ms. Susan, when you were doing wrong, did you see yourself as a hero? Feeling like you could control others' lives, getting a kick out of it?" Holding her burnt hand, Susan shook her head, utterly broken.

"Casper, please, let me explain..."
