Chapter 25

It was Saturday and off from college. Jannat woke up with the hope that everything will be alright. She got ready and went down. Zaroon came a few minutes later. He wished her good morning and sat down. Like every other day, he placed food on her plate and smiled. Jannat relaxed thinking that everything was normal. But her heart missed a bit when after breakfast, he got up and left without kissing her. "I will be back in the noon" Zaroon said, he needed to go to the office. Jannat followed her till the door, hoping that he would turn and give her what she needed but he didn't. Jannat returned to her room hardly controlling her tears. She kept thinking about the morning, analyzing and reanalyzing his behaviour. Before she knew, it was noon and Zaroon was back. The helper came to get her down. Jannat freshened up and went down with a smile. She was still hoping for him to be normal, their normal. L

Zaroon had folded the sleeves till his elbows, his strong forearms were on display for Jannat to admire. He was the first man, Jannat noticed with so much detail. He was the first man, whose scent wad imprinted in her mind, whose calloused touch was all she wanted to feel.

He smiled when he saw her and asked her to sit. "How was your day? What have you done? "Zaroon asked and Jannat looked at him blankly. She hadn't done anything but think of him the whole time. "Nothing..." Jannat said and looked down.

"Oookay... "Zaroon said not fishing for details and started putting food in their plates. Jannat ate very little.

After lunch Zaroon told her that he will be in the home office, he still had some stuff to check on. Jannat told him that she also needed to do her homework. But he didn't invite her to his office like normal days. He didn't ask her to join her like he normally would.

Zaroon left to his office with Jannat still standing there. Jannat closed her fists with tears filling her eyes. She felt everything, his every changed behaviour and it broke her heart. She wasn't used to this distant behaviour.

She went to her room and started doing work. Before she knew it tears had started falling from her eyes. After crying a lot, she quieted down, but her eyes had gone red by then.

After her assignment, Jannat went to the garden and started watering the plants, she needed to do something.

"Do you want to go outside? "Zaroon asked coming near her.

"Where? "she asked.

"Maybe for ice cream or wherever you want to go, " Zaroon said with a smile.

"No, let's stay home " Jannat suggested. Zaroon nodded and sat down. He asked her if she had completed her work or if she needs any help.

At night, they settled for the movie, but Zaroon didn't pull her in his arms like usual. Jannat waited a long time, but when he didn't, she placed her head on his shoulder herself. But he still didn't play with her hair. Jannat felt something breaking inside her. Her tears were brimming with a tear, she didn't fall asleep mid-movie like she usually did.

After the movie ended, Zaroon wished her good night and left the room without looking at her face and Jannat broke into tears.

Zaroon had felt the slight shivers of her body, the sadness looming over her. He knew that he would break if he looked at her face, so he left without a word. Though, sleeping had been more than difficult that night.
