Chapter 34

Bethany

It’s Friday and Ashley’s birthday and I can’t wait for tonight. It’s only 6 am but I’m too excited for any more sleep! I make quick work of showering and drying my hair before heading into my closest to find today’s outfit. I decide to go with my black skinny jeans,

white pullover jumper and my black hugs, winter is slowly creeping in and it gets chilly for us that don’t have our wolves yet.

I leave my hair hanging loosely down my back, put on some mascara and l*p balm and grab my school bag and Ashley’s gift before heading for the kitchen. I’m greeted by Joseph, Mary, Ashley and Jack as I step into the kitchen and everyone is all smiles. Brookes already linked me letting me know she was right behind me with Cal and Bella.

“Happy birthday baby cakes!” I sing out to a happy looking Ashley. Don’t ask me where the name came from, I called him it one day and it’s just stuck. I’m quickly hugging him as I hear a noise behind me and in walks, Brooke, Cal and a giggling Bella, soon everyone’s attention is on Ashley and he’s loving every minute of it as he should. Soon we’re all tucking into our breakfast and he’s opening his gifts excitement pouring out of him like a little kid!

“Ashley after school we are heading to the mall for some serious pampering and retail therapy, then it’s back here and your all Jack’s, Brooke and Katie are coming too!” He doesn’t even try and argue it, he couldn’t be any more excited if he tried.

Thankfully school went by quickly today, Brooke text earlier to say she and Ashley would pick me and Katie up from school to head straight to the mall, I’m guessing Jack wanted Ashley out of there asap.

The mall was crazy busy today Fridays always are but Jack thought ahead and booked us all appointments for our hair and nails so there was no waiting around, I love that guy and 3 hours later and we were all pampered and feeling great. We then went to buy new outfits for tonight, I think Ashley bought half the shop but he knows Jack won’t care.

It was starting to get late and we knew we’d need time to get ready so Katie made up an excuse about needing to head back, we had already missed dinner at the packhouse so we went with takeout from Dennys and stuffed our faces on the way back, Jack has told Ashley to dress up for tonight as he has a surprise so luckily that saves us needing to make excuses for that part.

Once we’re on pack land’s I send Jack a text to let him know and he’s there waiting at the front door when we pull up looking chuffed with himself, looks like all his hard work is paying off.

Jack wants everyone outside where the party will be at 8 pm before he brings Ashley out which leaves me with 1 hour to get ready, luckily with our hair and nails already done it won’t be too hard to do, Katie and Brooke decide to get ready at mine so once Jack has Ashley distracted, we quickly make our way up the Alpha floor and into my bedroom, let the fun begin!

Alpha Calvin

“How’s he doing doc?” I come over to the pack hospital once a day to check up on Jacoby, I trust doc of course but the Alpha in me needs to see for myself that he’s still in a coma.

“He’s improving every day; I have faith that he will wake up soon Alpha!” Doc looks confident and of course, part of me is glad he’s doing good but there’s still that part of me that wouldn’t care less if he died after what he did to Bethany, it’s a hard position to be in and I honestly don’t know what outcome I want more.

“Doc, Luna is on her way over, can you see her now?”

“Doc, Luna is on her way over, can you see her now?”

“Of course, Alpha, I hope she’s, ok?” Before I can answer him, I’m hit with the mouth watering scent that belongs to my mate, I turn around to see her beautiful smile as she makes her way over to us. She greets me with a k**s before I take her hand and lead her into the doc’s office.

“It’s a pleasure to see you both Alpha and Luna, how can I help you today?”

“I’m pregnant doc, well I’ve taken three tests that all say I am!” My mate is beaming as she talks to the doc and I know I am too.

“Oh, wow now that is wonderful news, so how about we get an ultrasound done and we can go from there?” We both quickly agree and my heart skips a beat as I realise, we are about to see our pup. The doc has Brooke lay down on the table and slowly lifts her top up to her chest, the minute he does a growl escapes my lips at someone touching my mate like that but luckily doc isn’t panicked he knows how it is and being Alpha I’m more possessive than most wolves.

“Ignore him doc, carry on!” Brooke giggles out. He puts cold gel on her belly making her laugh again before he starts the ultrasound, I’m not going to lie I can’t see any pup, I don’t understand a f*****g thing on that screen but then I hear it, clear as day I can hear 2 heartbeats and unless Brooke’s got 2 hearts then one definitely belongs to my pup.

The doc talks us through everything and shows us what he can see and then we see it, the tiny heartbeat of our baby, thumping away inside my mate, there’s our pup, holy s**t we’re having a pup!

Holy f**k I’m going to be a dad! That reality is scary as f**k but nothing can take away from this moment and the excitement, I feel knowing I’m going to be a dad, nothing! Brooke is only 4 weeks pregnant so it’s still early and we decide we’ll only tell our close family and friends for now until she’s a bit further along but f**k me it’s going to be hard to keep quiet. I want to scream it from the rooftops, I want the world to know and soon they will.

After we know everything is good with the baby and my mate, she heads off to our floor to get ready for her afternoon of shopping with the girls and Ashley while I head over to where the party is taking place to see if Jack needs any help with the setup.

Tonight, should be a good night and after the s**t few weeks, we’ve had it will be nice to relax for a while and enjoy some time with everyone. Liam is home tonight which means tomorrow we start our work with the help of the witch and I know it ain’t going to be easy but I’d walk through fire for that boy and one way or another we will figure it out but for tonight I plan on enjoying every minute with my family and of course, my beautiful pregnant mate, f**k that feels good to say!

Beta Liam

Finally, after almost 1 month we get to go home thank f**k! this is the longest I’ve been away from the packhouse without Calvin or Jack ever and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t missing everyone. I’ve spoken to my parents every night; my mom worries and I know if I don’t call her to let her know I’m ok before bed she won’t sleep. I’ve not spoken to anyone else much aside from the standard updating calls with Calvin and Jack.

I’m proud of my men they have worked their bollocks off here and there’s no signs of any Rogues left thank f**k. They have been terrorising this pack for far too long and both me and my men had no problem with tearing out their f*****g throats. Alpha Pickard has some seriously strong men here but them dirty fuckers were relentless!

Unfortunately for them, my men combined with Pickard’s men was too much for them to handle and they all met the death they deserved. I also managed to find the Rogue that attacked the little girl and I left her father to have the pleasure of tearing him apart! I meet little Caitlin while we were there, she was seriously lucky to survive but the scar she now holds running down her cheek and the mental scars will always be with her, she’s only 4 years old and I wish I could have changed that for her, all my men do!

It’s 2 days of travel to get back but thankfully we’re getting to the end, another 4 hours and we should be home, usually, I would be counting down the minutes until I can get some sleep but there’s a party at the packhouse tonight for our Gamma Jack’s mate Ashley and I won’t be a no show for that it’s completely disrespectful and I like Ashley he’s a nice guy.

The most shocking part of this whole trip was day 6, we got back to the packhouse after another successful day of ending them fuckers when one of the pack’s Omegas came to tell me I had a visitor, obviously, I assumed she was mistaken, who would visit me there? Plus, Calvin hadn’t mentioned anyone else joining us.

But I s**t you not she was looking for me because it turned out my mate had come to visit me, yep Sarah drove on her own all this way taking 3 days to reach here and it wasn’t just a visit, I knew that the moment I saw two suitcases in my room. I couldn’t believe it, I’ve never heard of it happening it’s just not how things work, no wolf takes his mate on a job like this but there she was.

Don’t get me wrong I was missing her but I know deep down it wasn’t as much as I should have been and I wasn’t overly excited to see her either which made me feel like such a d**k, it still does now, to be honest. If anything, I just found the situation awkward and I hate to admit it but embarrassing too and the guys made sure I knew it was that way as well, of course, I defended her with some made-up bullshit but truth be told I agreed with everything they said.

I just can’t wait to get home now; I know I sound like a d**k but I need some space from Sarah plus I need to speak to Cal and the sooner the better. Thinking of them makes me think of the love I see between Jack and Ashley and Cal and Brooke.

I see how they are with each other, the love they share, how they never want to keep their hands off each other and I remember how excited I used to be to meet my mate and how we would be together but this what I have,

well, my fantasy is definitely not my reality and it just deepens my confusion on my relationship with my mate. We still haven’t mated or marked and I still don’t feel a desire to do it, there’s either something seriously wrong with this match or maybe I’m just a heartless bastard who doesn’t deserve her Either way, I need to find out because this situation is slowly tearing me apart!
