Chapter 38

Alpha Calvin

Marcus looks at me before settling his gaze on Liam, he seems to be considering his words before speaking.

“Beta Liam, your mate Sarah isn’t actually your mate, not your true mate, she is my second chance mate!” What the f**k is he talking about? I can see anger spread through Liam at him saying that Sarah is his mate and not Liam’s but I don’t see him get any kind of urge to kill him which is how it would normally work and I’m pretty sure Marcus has noticed it.

“What the f**k are you talking about? If this is another mind game of yours don’t bother!” He assures me it’s not a mind game and without warning goes on to tell us everything about him meeting Sarah at the ceremony, their plans, and his change of mind.

I’m floored and I know I’m, not the only one, none of this makes any sense but yet there’s a part of me deep down that thinks it could be true with how Liam’s been acting, I’m ashamed to admit it but a part of me hopes it is true, it would explain a lot for me.

In the midst of my own confusion, I quickly realise that while he’s been bragging to Liam about Sarah, he’s also confessed to wanting Bethany as his Luna.

“When I was told you wanted me as your Luna, a part of me didn’t want to believe it, but it’s true, it’s actually true!” Beth has finally spoken up, shock and confusion spread across her face, I look over to Liam and I can see him tense up with a confused look covering his face.

“It is true Bethany, on the night of my ceremony I planned on keeping you there with me but then Jacoby and Zoe messed everything up and I knew I needed a new plan which is where Sarah came in. When I think back to it now, I’m glad I didn’t get the chance to try and kidnap you, it was wrong and I know it won’t mean anything but I am truly sorry for what I planned Bethany!”

“Do you seriously think apologising will help? will make it all better? because it won’t Marcus, she’s a f*****g CHILD!” Ashley bellows out as he starts losing his s**t, he moves closer to Marcus before Jack quickly steps forward and pulls him back whispering in his ear and calming him down.

“If you’re as sorry as you say you are then prove it!” Bethany steps closer to Marcus but Liam’s arm shoots out in front of her stopping her from going any closer, I doubt he even knows why he’s doing it.

“How can I do that?” He looks straight at her making me want to knock him the f**k out.

“I want the truth…did you arrange the attack on moonshine? Did you kill my family?” She steps closer to Liam while waiting for the answer, she’s got a stone-cold look on her face but I can see her body shaking.

“I arranged the attack yes, I also killed Harley but no one else from your family!”

“And Carly?” He nods his head, not saying a word and I feel everyone’s anger rise at him admitting it and the heartless bastard doesn’t even try to look sorry. Brooke folds herself into my side at his admittance, I wrap my arm around her whispering soothing words to her while I see her fighting to hold back her tears and I want nothing more than to f*****g end him right now but I know more answers are needed but I know he will die for this!

“How could you? Why would you do that?” Bethany struggles to get her words out and moves in closer to Liam as if on instinct he puts his arm around her shoulder as Brooke leaves my side and appears at the other side of her to comfort her, I want her at my side but I know they both need this.

“I just wanted what I was owed Bethany, everyone knew I should have been Alpha including the Alpha himself but everyone was too p***y to admit it. If you want to blame anyone for the attack then blame him, I offered him a different way, all he had to do was hand over the title to me and everything would have been fine. I told him I would wipe the pack out if he didn’t but he went and laughed in my face so really this is all his fault!” Is this guy f*****g serious!

Bethany stays quiet before she lunges forwards and starts beating the f**k out of Marcus, I don’t know if we’re all shocked or giving her a moment to vent her anger but either way no one stops her until a few minutes have passed.

I move over to her, wrap my arm around her waist and pull her back, as I’m pulling her back I hear a small growl and I know it’s from Liam, he doesn’t mean any harm to me, it properly came from Jonah and I choose to ignore it for Liam’s sake. I place her back on her feet while keeping a hold of her but she isn’t calming down.

“Bethany, we need more answers from him before anything can happen to him, I know you are angry sweetheart, believe me, but we need to wait, can you do that for me?” Finally, she settles a little and nods to me, I need to keep things going before she or Brooke completely c***k.

“Jack, can you go and get our visitor and update her on the way please?” He knows straight away who I’m talking about as he disappears to get our witch.

“Liam, can you link Sarah and ask her to join us please brother?” He nods my way as his eyes glaze over, after a few seconds he lets me know she’s on her way, he sounds seriously pissed off and I just wish we could have helped him before all this happened because I can’t imagine what’s going through his head right now.

“I know you’re upset you’re not going to be my Luna now Bethany but it’s for the best!” Marcus has a sick smirk on his face as he speaks to her and it’s the final straw for Liam as he storms over to him, throwing a punch so hard his head snaps back and I hear the crunch of his nose breaking under Liam’s knuckles.

But that prick never learns as he looks up to him with a smirk and I can see that Liam’s about ready to end him, I move to stop him but Ashley is quicker as he drags him away. Liam tries to fight him off but gets distracted by the voice of Beta John as he speaks up for the first time since he arrived here.

“Alpha Calvin, would it be ok if I say something?”

“Of course, Beta John.”

“You were there when I found out that Marcus wanted Bethany as his mate and I hope you remember has disgusted I was!” I nod

“Well I want to assure you I had no idea about his plan with Sarah, I haven’t even seen her around but I want everyone to know that I don’t agree with this like I didn’t agree with his old plan and I also want to clear something else up.

Marcus lied to all the Rogues about his reasons for wiping out the pack, I know full well that none of us would have helped him if we had known the truth, we lost people, I lost my brother all for his sick and twisted game!” He gets louder as he nears the end of his words and I can see his body shaking from anger and I believe every word he says.

“What reasons did he give you for wiping out the pack Beta John?” He goes on to tell us the whole story and we’re all f*****g floored and now more than ever I know that he will die for his crimes and I’m happy to do it.

“You traitor, I’m going to tear you apart John!” Marcus bellows out looking furious because he knows this is the end for him, he knows he’s not leaving here alive.

“Alpha Calvin, may I ask a favour of you?” I nod for him to continue.

“Please would you allow me to free myself of my loyalty to Marcus, I don’t want anything to do with him anymore. I know it will make me a Rogue straight away but I pose no threat to you or your pack, I will help you with anything you need before I leave and you’ll never have to see me again!” I don’t blame the guy I would want to do the same thing.

“Hold on to your title for now Beta John and we will talk again soon, trust me on this!” He looks confused for a moment but hesitantly agrees with me, I want to find out more about this guy before he’s forced to be a Rogue again. Marcus goes to speak but he’s distracted by the sound of Sarah and our witch as they appear in the doorway.

Beta Liam

I’m seething I’m so angry, I want nothing more than to end Marcus right now. I know I have genuine reasons to want to kill him like everyone else here but for some reason, I feel like I have more reasons, it’s a stupid thought but it’s there.

Sarah walks in alongside Jack and another girl that I’ve not met before, why don’t I know her? Calvin hasn’t mentioned anything about a new member.

“What’s..going..on?” Sarah looks between Marcus and me as she struggles to get her words out and it only increases my belief in Marcus’s words, she has no reason to act this strange.

“I’ve told them the truth baby; they know we are mates and now we can be free to be together!” I watch Marcus as he speaks and straight away, I finally know he’s speaking the truth he’s looking at her like Calvin looks at Brooke and that look can’t be faked.

“What are you talking about Marcus?” She looks confused but pissed seriously pissed and I know she’s faking the confusion to try and cover herself.

“He’s told us the truth Sarah, maybe it’s time you told us the truth too?” Brooke takes slow steps towards Sarah as she speaks and I can see her shaking from anger, I’ve never seen her this angry before. Calvin goes up close to her whispering something in her ear and soon enough she sends him her gentle smile before visibly relaxing a little.

“I..I..don’t know what he’s told you but it’s all lies; he can’t be trusted!” She’s slightly shaking as she tries to back herself up towards the door but unfortunately for her, Jack is fast on her heel as he pulls her back in front of Brooke.

“He’s not lying though is he Sarah? I see how he looks at you and I know I’ve never looked at you like that, tell the truth while you still have a chance!” Realization quickly hits me with force when I realize I don’t even feel hurt by what she’s done and I know I don’t sound hurt either.

If anything, I’m f*****g furious at the lies, at being used, at all the things I’ve missed out on in the meantime because I know there’s stuff I’m not remembering. I know she’s done something to me and I also know if another wolf tried calming Brooke as his mate Calvin would tear him apart but for me, I actually feel relieved, this whole thing is f****d up!

“f**k this s**t!” Brooke spits out, she takes hard steps towards Sarah backing her into the wall before lifting her off of the floor by her throat. Sarah starts turning red before trying to talk again, Brooke lowers her back down to the ground but doesn’t remove her hand fully from her throat.

“This is your last chance Sarah, or I will tear you apart limb from limb in front of your mate and I’ll enjoy every moment!”

“I’m in!” Ashley shouts out and I have to stifle a laugh at his cheesy grin!” Nows, not the time Ash!

“You can’t hurt me, Brooke!” Her words are shaky and she knows her game is up.

“And whys that Sarah?” Brooke’s tone is calm but her eyes are laced with venom.

“Because I’m pregnant…I’m pregnant with Liam’s pup!” What the f**k?
