Chapter 41

Bethany

I’m an absolute mess today, everything that has happened is my fault and the guilt is slowly eating me up. I woke up in Ashley’s bed after we had a sleepover, it has become my safe place whenever I’m feeling sad or I’ve just had a s**t day and it was a good distraction for me last night but the guilt I woke up with this morning is taking over every other feeling inside my body.

I needed some air to try and clear my head so I quietly slipped out of bed and headed outside for a quiet walk. Seeing Liam at the lake just tore me up, even more, to know all his pain and confusion has been caused by me is unbelievably painful and yet he doesn’t blame me.

He comforted me this morning and even though it wasn’t in his usual way it still felt amazing, he still has a huge calming effect on me even if I still don’t know why I just pray with everything I have that if he’s able to remember everything he doesn’t end up hating me.

We quickly arrive at the Alpha floor and Calvin has had a huge spread brought up here for us so we can talk through everything that happened last night. Once we’ve all got food and are seated the discussions quickly start.

Calvin and Brooke are sharing one love seat while Jack and Ashley are in the other one, both Liam’s and Calvin’s parents are sitting on the large sofa while Liam and I take the chairs that have been pulled over from the dining table.

Everyone quietens down once Calvin starts informing both sets of parents on what happened last night and the shock on their faces speaks so many words, Liam’s mom looks relieved which I find strange shouldn’t she be hurt right now? I choose to ignore it, it’s not my place and if it wasn’t for me, she wouldn’t even be in this situation.

“Calvin, where are Sarah and Marcus now? And his Beta John, is it?” Mary Liam’s mom quickly asks.

“Marcus and Sarah are both in cells, they are being guarded by 8 wolves between them including one inside Sarah’s cell at all times, I don’t trust her not to try something stupid! Beta John is on his way up here now as he needs to be a part of some of this discussion!” Mary nods but doesn’t say anymore.

“What will happen with him, Cal?” His dad speaks up now.

“I don’t know yet, instinct tells me he is a decent guy who has been pulled into this mess as we all have but I want to find out more about him, one of the reasons for inviting him here is so we can talk to him without Marcus breathing down his neck, try and figure him out for ourselves!”

40 minutes later and we are all fed and talked out, Beta John joined us and he seems like someone I would like, I don’t see him being anything like Marcus, hopefully, there’s a way out of this for him that doesn’t result in him being a Rogue.

Both the parents soon leave and Calvin tells the guards that brought Beta John here that they can leave, clearly, he thinks he is good too or he wouldn’t have done that.

“Calvin, what’s going to happen to Marcus?” He looks at me, considering his words before he finally speaks.

“He will die, Bethany, even with putting any personal feelings aside he has broken the law, for arranging the death of your family and old pack he will receive death without everything else he has done!” I’d like to say I’m unhappy that someone will be losing their life but the truth is I feel relieved and happy.

After everything he has done, he deserves everything that’s coming his way even though whatever punishment he gets will never be enough for taking my family away from me at least his death will mean he can’t hurt anyone else.

“We are heading down to the cells now; I can update you on how it goes later if you would like?” His gentle tone never goes unnoticed.

“No, I want to come, I want to see him, I have questions that he needs to answer before he dies!” Thankfully no one tries to argue it or stop me and soon after we arrive at the entrance to the cells, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the smell of b***d piss, s**t and sick, you name it and it’s down here, it’s also an instant reminder of the worst day of my life.

It’s ironic really that it brings back the memories of the day I lost my family and yet their killer is down here, regardless of how the smell makes me feel, I push it aside and get ready to face that prick.

Calvin didn’t allow Brooke to come down here and I’m glad, the smell and facing him would be too much stress on her body right now, it’s too much for me but I’m here for both me and Brooke and I’ll make sure we have the answers we need.

Beta Liam

The smell down in the cells is pure hell but facing Marcus and Sarah is worth every minute of it, I’m not done with either of them heartless bastards yet.

We choose Marcus first; we can see Bethany is itching to speak to him and it’s the least she deserves.

“Good morning, Alpha Marcus, I hope you slept well!” Calvin speaks first with an evil glint to his tone.

“Rogues get treated better than this, I don’t know who you think you are to treat me, an Alpha like this but I will be reporting you, that I can assure you off!” This t**t seriously thinks he’s getting out of here.

The moment the words slip from his mouth Bethany bellows out with laughter, full-on giggles, it wouldn’t be a problem but every time Bethany gets the giggles, she always sets Ashley off and soon enough Ashley follows.

“I don’t understand why your laughing!” He grunts out and it only makes them both laugh even more.

“You think you’re getting out of here…” Before Bethany can finish her sentence, she starts laughing again.

“Of course, I am, I’m an Alpha and you can’t keep me here, my men will come for me and they will tear you apart!” He growls out.

“Oh, please stop, if I don’t stop laughing soon, I’ll need to pee!” Ashley manages to get out in between laughing and it only sets Bethany off more, f**k why’s her laugh so cute to me?

Thankfully I’m quickly distracted by Toby as he comes alongside me and I can see he’s trying his hardest to hold his own laugh in while Calvin tells them both to behave as a smirk tugs at his mouth.

“Marcus, I can assure you that you won’t be leaving my parklands, you have Broken a s**t load of laws and more than one of them condemns you to death!”

“But I told you the truth about everything, I’m going to be a dad, are you seriously ok with taking a pup away from its dad?”

“As you did to Bethany as you did to Bella!” Calvin’s voice is rising as he fights to hold his anger in, Ashley and Beth have quickly stopped laughing and grown angry, there ain’t any sign of laughter in this room anymore.

“That’s in the past, Beta John call our men, have them here by morning to get my a*s out of here!” Does he seriously think that’s going to work? And even if it would he has just told us when his men would arrive so he is screwing himself over, he’s a useless t**t and a useless Alpha!

“Marcus I may still hold my Beta title but I don’t serve you anymore and neither does anyone from the pack, I spoke with them last night, and with Alpha Calvin’s permission I told them everything you’ve done and none of them are willing to follow you any longer, you are on your own! I will happily help these people kill you myself, you have destroyed everything and I only pray the pack can survive this, I pray your actions don’t render them, Rogues, again!” Beta John is angry and his words and actions only confirm that he’s against Marcus, against his game.

“Marcus, why did you want me as your Luna? I’m a child and not your true mate? And why did you leave me and Bella in the safe room? You knew where we were, why didn’t you come for me if you wanted me? I want the truth!”

“Why should I tell you anything, if I’m not getting out of here? I don’t owe you anything!” I instantly feel angry at his disrespect to Bethany and it takes all I have to hold myself back.

“You will die, Marcus, there’s no way out for you, but how you die is up to you, give the answers that are asked of you and I’ll make it a quick death, keep acting like a prick and you will suffer as no one has before!” Cal growls out his response and I can see the hint of fear in Marcus’s eyes.

“How am I supposed to believe you?”

“I am a man of my word and honour, regardless of what you have done, you have my word that I will do as I say!” Marcus seems to consider this for a moment before he finally starts speaking up.

“Honestly Bethany, why wouldn’t I have you as my Luna? You are smart, beautiful and can kick a*s like no 15-year old I have ever seen, I couldn’t imagine anyone better for me until I meet Sarah, at the mention of him calling Bethany beautiful Jonah lets out a furious growl shocking everyone in the room including myself, what the f***s his deal?

“And I left you there so you would be safe, I knew no one would find you so my plan was to leave you there until everyone was dead and then I’d come and get you, but by the time I got there you were gone!”

He goes on to tell her about a witch that was helping him, apparently, she helped him find Bethany at our pack and was the one to kidnap Bethany. Hold up what f*****g k********g? Before I have a chance to speak, I feel a mind link coming through.

“Liam, I know you can’t remember but just keep pushing forward, I will explain it to you later and hopefully you will remember it all soon!” Cal spills out the words quickly before putting his attention back on Marcus.

Bethany lets us know that she is done talking to him and we all leave his cell while he screams and shouts and head for the cell next door, the cell holding my fake mate and child.

The moment the door is opened and I come face to face with her I feel raging anger flow through my body, hatred I don’t remember feeling before, if she wasn’t pregnant, I would rip her f*****g throat out right now but she is pregnant and I won’t be responsible for killing an innocent pup. Before anyone has a chance to speak Calvin’s eyes glaze over and he instantly tenses up.

“Jacoby is awake!” Is all he says before he quickly leaves the room and everyone soon follows, Sarah tries to grab my attention but I don’t have anything to say to her and the more I see and hear her the more I want to rip her face off.

“I LOVE YOU LIAM, PLEASE, HELP ME!” Sarah screeches out as I start shutting the cell door.

“Shut the f**k up b***h!” I turn to see Bethany next to me glaring at Sarah, she grabs hold of my hand and pulls me away from the cell, a chuckle slips from my mouth as Sarah’s screeching fades away into the background as we head for the pack hospital to see Jacoby.
