Chapter 19

Nick POV

Nick was standing in Alpha Corey's office, Jeremy next to him. He was waiting on Luna Lindy, who he was certain was making him wait on purpose, he had to apologise to her, for his disrespect to her this afternoon.

She had requested that his Beta be present for his apology, the message he'd received from the young omega boy who looked a little more than nervous looking up at the Alpha, that was towering over him, he couldn't have been more then 10, it was clear he was nervous to be delivering such a message, to such an imposing Alpha.

He had told him, Luna Lindy requests her formal apology, to be given in front of all those who heard him disrespect her, and that his Beta must also be present, in case she chose not to accept it. So she could have them removed from her pack together, that he Alpha Nicholas should be packed and ready to go, before coming to apologise in case it was an unacceptable apology.

Nick had simply nodded at the boy and watched him, scurry away, in a big hurry. He'd held on to his temper, keeping it in check, was still doing it currently. He had the distinct feeling Luna Lindy, was having him watched, wanted him to get angry and loose his temper, so she could toss him out on his a*s. Nick had marched himself to Jeremy's room and woken the poor guy from sleep, he really needed.

His response to being woken, when still really tired, was a very grumpy "f**k off, Nick."

Nick nudged him, "Come on man, I'm sorry...but my Mate Bond is on the line here."

"What?" he'd muttered.

"I insulted the Luna unwittingly, and she's demanding I apologise or she'll not let me claim my Mate."

Jeremy laughed into his pillow, of course he would find it funny. "You just go from one drama to another don't you big fella." he rolled over and sat up with a yawn "Man the goddess, must be really pissed off, at you."

"Can you get up please...i have managed to wrangle a mating alliance. If the Luna will accept my apology, that is"

Jeremy snorted with laughter "Won't go willingly still I see."

"I don't know, I actually haven't spoken to her about it, was asked by the Alpha to stay away from her, at the Luna's orders. And with Luna Lindy ready to toss me, out on my a*s, I stayed away. I didn't even know a Luna, could have and Alpha tossed out of a pack, but apparently they can. So this is the quickest way to get my Mate, to our pack."

"Hmm, you know you'll have to actually, follow the terms of the mating alliance."

"Yes I do." he nodded, but how bad could it be, just a mating agreement.

"All of it Nick. For the rest of your life." Jeremy was staring up at him now.

"Yes Jeremy, I'm well aware of what a mating alliance is, and how they work."

"Just so we're clear...how'd you offend the Luna?"

"I didn't know I had actually...til she was suddenly yelling at me, about her pack and demanding I show her respect."

"Goddess Nick, now you didn't go calling her, just a woman, did you."

"Pretty much."

Jeremy sighed, "How many times, have you seen Luna's and their Mate's doting on them?"

Nick sighed heavily 'A few I guess."

"A few?" Jeremy rubbed a hand over his face "You know your family, your father has really screwed your views up right?"

"Apparently so... Did you know there's a Luna's Library here?"

"I did, every pack has one bar ours. My grandmother still lives you know, all secluded up north, but is a mountain of information, perhaps you need to speak with her."

Nick could only nod his head "Probably a good idea. Organise it when we get back huh."

"Sure thing. Your such a dumb a*s sometimes. You know that right."

Nick put a boot into him and shove him off the bed "get dressed and I'll let that one slide, huh."

Jeremy just laughed.

Luna Lindy walked into the office, didn't even acknowledge his presence at all, walked right over to her Mate and pecked him on the cheek "Am I late? I forgot, sorry love." Oh she hadn't forgot.

"It's alright love. Things get forgotten sometimes, when one is busy with their other Luna duties."

"Mm, I am very busy most of the time." she'd smiled right at him.

Nick knew the two of them were indirectly insulting him, with their conversation. He held his tongue, he needed this meeting to go well. Needed the Luna happy and open to acceptance of his apology. He just stood and waited till she actually acknowledged his presence in the room. It was all he could do. didn't like it but had to tollerate it.

He'd dressed in black slacks and a white dress shirt, it was the only formal clothing he had, since Rip had destroyed his formal suit, his favourite suit at that.

'Our Mate was in trouble, they're just clothes.'

"My favourite clothes and yes I am aware she needed us!

'No time for you to take them off, you're to slow.

'Agreed. and Nick did, but now all he had was this out fit and the jeans and tee-shirt she'd seen him wear earlier, and he really did for some weird reason, want to look good for his Mate.

'We'll preen for her.' Rip chortled.

'What is with you, Rip?"

'I want my mate, Ky'ra is beautiful.'

Nick had to agree with that, both Lucinda and Ky'ra were beautiful and if this apology was accepted, and the agreement made he'd have his little Mate in his bed, screaming his name in pleasure the minute they were back in his pack. Luna Lindy finally turned to him "Alpha Nicholas I believe you have something to say to me."

Nick nodded "Yes. Luna Lindy. I would like to formally apologise, I did not know certain protocols needed to be observed. It does appear that my father, has left out vital information from my upbringing, where a Luna of a pack is concerned...I spent the afternoon in your pack library as suggested, by your Gamma here" he acknowledged James with a nod "and my eyes were indeed opened...I Alpha Nicholas Frost, of the Blue Moon Rising Pack, here by apologise to you Luna Lindy, of Half Moon Pack for my disrespect to you and your position...I am sorry." he bowed his head slightly in her direction to show his respect.

Nick had thought long and hard about how this had to go, and he realised the best way to go about it was to apologise, as he would expect someone to apologise to him. So that was what he'd just done.

He stood watching and waiting on her reply, she actually smiled "Why thank you, Alpha Nicholas. Apology accepted...i do however hope, you have learned from your mistake...will not disrespect a Luna ever again."

Nick knew what she was hinting at, his own Mate, who would be his Luna. The minute she was marked and mated "I'm sure I have learned a valuable lesson, from you Luna Lindy."

"Good...Now as for young Lucinda. I will be expecting you to also apologise to her. Nicely and meaningfully...yes."

His mouth twitched, oh she loved throwing her power around and displaying it in front of everyone in this room, his Beta included. That she at this very moment in time, held all the cards and more power than him. "Of course, I will mend my ways."

"Good." she smiled triumphantly "Now as for the mating alliance, I think I am willing to discuss it now."

Discuss it? He wanted to shake the tiny bloody woman til her teeth rattled in her brain, what did she want from him, for him to get down on his knees and beg her "That would be lovely!" he simply said, keeping his voice completely even and calm and his anger well off the surface.

He was an Alpha and she was treating him like he was beneath her, if she kept this up, he would at some point loose his composure and snarl at the woman.

"Please lets all have a seat. I have some clauses of my own. Once I have gotten your agreement on them. I will leave you men, to deal with the rest." Every one sat down, she was smiling quite cockily he thought.

He was going to have to go along with whatever she wanted, or she would storm off again and put her Luna foot down, on him yet again, he just knew it. 1. There will be no Marking by force.

2. No Mating by force, EVER.

3. No heir will be demanded of Lucinda, that will happen as the Goddess wills it.

4. You will never reject her. Once you've obtained her permission and Marked and Mated, she is your Luna for the rest of your natural life. You will not treat her the way your father or brothers treated their Mates. You will be faithful, to your Luna. Respect her and treat her well. Love her.

5. If an heir is produced and you do decided to abandon this agreement and reject her. All ties to you and your pack will be dismissed and Lucinda will return here to My pack, and your heir will come with her and be bled into this pack. You will have no claim on the child any longer.

6. You will hold a mating ball every 3 months or so, 4 at the most if there is something pressing that cant be avoided, this will aid in your pack members, finding their mates.

7. You will accept mating ball invitations on behalf of your pack, each and every one of them sent to you, again so your pack members can find their mates.

Nick could feel his jaw was ticking, this was a bloody long list of demands and though he had already agreed to 1 and 2, 3 was outright ridiculous and 4 well...as long as they got along he was probably going to be alright with it. 5 on the other hand was completely insane, loose his heir and have it bled into this pack. Was she crazy, no way in hell was he going to ever allow that to happen. 6 and 7, he knew were Luna Lindy's personal retaliation on him about the disrespect, he had showed her and he knew it. She knew, everyone knew, how much he hated mating balls.

"I can not agree to Clause 5 at all. That is completely insane. My heir will never be bled into another pack." he grated out unable to hide his displeasure.

"Well as long as you are faithful to Lucinda, I don't see that being a problem. Do you? Or are you already planning on sleeping around on your Luna? Have you seen the results of a Mated wolves infidelity?" Luna Lindy asked with a deep frown.

"I have, it causes terrible pain to the mate, my own mother suffered it actually." he had hated seeing her on that day, the screaming in agony, the way she had rolled around on the floor clutching at her self, the tears streaming down her face. But what was worse was a year later when her mark spot started to pour black blood from it. His own father had marked another without rejecting his mother, he had been just 4, but the memory still haunted him, watching her die and not knowing what to do about it, holding onto his little sister crying in his arms, watching the life literally bleed out of his mother, heard her beg him to run away and not watch, she had known what was happening, and could do nothing about it.

"Do you see yourself doing that to your Luna."

"No." and he did mean that, he would never do that to anyone "I am not my father."

"Then 5 shouldn't be a problem now should it."

Nick frowned, bloody she-wolf knew exactly what she was doing, she had clearly done this before "I guess not." he nodded.

"Good." she nodded right back.

"6 and 7" Nick shot at her annoyed, he had not wanted to just relive his mothers death and his annoyance couldn't be shoved down, no matter how much he tried.

"For the good of your pack, Alpha Nicholas. Mating balls are essential for finding your un-mated wolves their goddess gifted Mates. Something you have denied them for your entire rule, for whatever your reasons, I do not know. But I don't think they are happy with this." "It is just and excuse for a f**k fest in my opinion, that is why." he told her without mincing words.

"Hmm, interesting take on it. There is a book in my Library that I could lend you "Mating Ball Etiquette" it has some old fashioned rules, which you might find more to your liking. We're pretty free around here, but there are packs out there that have very strict rules around mating balls. You can lay out rules in your invitations. As to what is expected of visiting pack members."

Nick nodded, that was interesting indeed "give it to Lucinda, I believe, as the Luna it will be her job to organise mating balls, yes?"

He watched Luna Lindy nod her head "You did learn from your readings today I see."

"I did." he nodded "Are they your only demands Luna?"

"Mine yes. But you only have yourself to blame, for my clauses. Always remember that...you told my Mate, to treat Lucinda as if she was our own child. I took that to heart and will protect my daughter in every way possible."

Nick smiled oh she was a devious one "that I did."

"Good, now be a good son, and respect your mother, in all future endeavours." her eyes were practically gleaming now.

Mother, his eyes widened and she smiled right at him, he hadn't really thought that one through and now realised he had just backed himself into a corner with this woman. He heard Jeremy stifle a laugh and glared at him, the bloody man was fully amused at the moment, his eyes were already gleaming with mischief, he was loving every moment of this agreement.

He watched as Luna Lindy walked over to the bar, in the room pick up a bottle of Pink Gin, grin at her Mate, as he growled at her a little aggressively "Lucinda is awake." she said and turned and ran from the room, completely surprising him. Alpha Corey was up from his chair "Don't wait up for me." she was laughing and banged the door shut.

"That's my bloody Gin." Alpha Corey snapped "Crazy woman, thinks she can steal it." but Nick noted the smirk on the mans face.

Got the distinct impression he was going to enjoy punishing his Mate, raised and eyebrow at Alpha Corey when he returned to his desk. The man just smiled at him.

"Asking for a s******g I believe. And I will bend her over my knee and s***k her good when she comes home." the mans intent was clear, to all in the room and he didn't care who knew it either. "Shall we get down to the business side of things?" Nick said.

"Lets, pack to pack. A good strong alliance I foresee now we are related by your mating bond. Son, to my Daughter Lucinda."

Nick nodded, both the Luna and Alpha were crazy it seemed. It was no wonder Lucinda, was free spirited and didn't care about anything, her Alpha and Luna it appeared ran by their own set of rules.
