His Luna’s Already A Luna -
Chapter 36
Jeremy POV
Watching his granny, Bella, stare at Nicks' towering form on her doorstep, with an angry demeanour was funny as hell. His granny was only 4'9', like the shortest wolf in the whole pack, and her wolf was also small and looked like a pretty reddish-brown puppy, but man wasn't she viscous when cranky. Even now a full two foot shorter than her Alpha, she didn't seem to care about the utter lack of disrespect that she was showing right to his very face. Not many would have the courage to do that to an Alpha, let alone one as big as Nick was.
They had brought the rum loaded cake and cookies, she'd taken them right from him, without even so much as a thank you, and started staring him down. Had not allowed him to pass the threshold as of yet.
Jeremy was hard pressed not to laugh, as Nick had to refrain from getting mad at his granny, he needed her help, so he had to s**k it up. He also had to control Rip, who demanded respect wherever he went. It was a good ten minutes of them just staring at each other, before she'd turned and walked away, into her small cabin, without a word.
Jeremy was already inside. She'd only barred Nicks' passage into her home. When she walked away and finally let him inside he'd frowned at Jeremy's amused face. Jeremy had just shrugged.
'I told you she wasn't a fan of your family." he'd told him through the mind-link.
Nick had finally stepped inside and his granny had pointed to a chair, and told him in her no-nonsense tone "sit there.", it was the shortest, smallest chair in her house.
Jeremy had burst out laughing seeing Nick try to get comfortable. It was not possible, he was too tall and bulky.
Nick shot him a death stare, as Jeremy got his phone out to snap a picture, of his mighty Alpha, in such a stupid-funny looking position.
'Don't you freaking dare' was shot at him through the link, his tone was deadly.
There were tears rolling out of Jeremy, he knew he'd take the punishment that was coming his way. Snapped the photo anyway, no-one would believe him, unless he had the proof to back it up. "What you laughing at, boy?" his granny asked him.
"Nothing, granny." he answered, but was still laughing.
She walked over and cracked him with a mean hit to his back, too short to reach his head, it only made him laugh harder.
"Enough boy." she snapped at him.
Nick looked furiously at him, Jeremy desperately tried to rein in his amusement, but just couldn't. Every time he looked at Nick, it was just too darn funny. He secretly took more pictures, and sent them to Kevin and Braidy. He even went so far as to send one to Alpha Corey and tagged it "for his mother." The phone was on the chair next to him, he'd had to turn it to the, do not disturb mode, so Nick wouldn't hear its constant buzzing, and he was trying not to laugh at the comments, flying at him from every one.
Oh, Nick was going to kill him, this could be the thing that got his head ripped off. But so worth it. He'd die laughing at least. Might run right to Lucinda and hide behind her. Oh! if only he had her number, surely she'd be rolling around on the floor laughing with him. Everyone else was finding it funny. Alpha Corey wanted to make a calendar with it. Jeremy thought it was a great idea, a good gift for him, at the Luna Ceremony.
Alpha Corey was in, so many laughing emoji's were there. Oh, if he could keep it from Nick, he'd have to call Alpha Corey later in person and they could laugh hysterically together.
He was whacked again by his granny for his continual laughing "If you can't behave, go chop wood boy!"
Jeremy looked at Nick and bit his lip. More tears rolled out of him. "But granny," he pointed at Nick, "look at him." He wiped his tears away. "it's too funny." he doubled over and nearly fell out of his own chair. "Get out." Nick snapped at him, his anger for all to hear.
To Nicks' utter disbelief, Jeremy watched his granny get up and whack him on the back of his head. "Don't you yell at my grandson like that. Are you just like your father, boy?"
Nick turned to look at her, completely shocked she'd had the balls to hit him on Jeremy's behalf.
Jeremy's laughter finally stopped almost instantly, not only a hit but an insult, was he going to have to get between his Alpha and his granny?
"I am nothing like my father," Nick told her flatly.
"That anger is the same boy," she shot straight back "You'd better treat my Jeremy with respect, or I'll wallop you good. Alpha or no Alpha, every boy can be walloped good, by their elders."
Jeremy's smile was back, perhaps he would just wait it out. He knew Flora, granny's wolf, was fast and bitey. He'd been bitten more than once by her throughout his life.
He watched as Nick took a deep breath to calm himself. Perhaps now was a good time for that rum cake. He stood and headed for the kitchen. Granny's eyes were on him. "I'll get you some cake," he told her.
She nodded and turned back to Nick, who really did look like an over grown human in a kiddie chair. "Now what does you want, boy?"
Nick sighed, Jeremy heard it from the kitchen as he cut his granny a large slice of rum cake. "I found my Mate Bella."
"I heard your message." she waved a hand at him "What's that got to do with me?" she accepted the cake from Jeremy and her eyes lit up when she bit into it. Smiled right at him, he winked back at her.
"I know what you like, granny" he grinned at her.
"such a good by Jere's"
He just nodded, she was the only one to shorten his name. "Please granny help Nick here. The man is clueless about Luna's. Not the best upbringing, you know."
He watched as his granny turned her eyes on Nick and stared at him for a full minute. "Bloody clueless, I imagine." she shot at him.
"Bella, any help would be good." Nick said softly to her, showing her respect "My mating alliance."
"Your what?" she yelled at him and shot to her feet, surprising both he and Nick. "I will not help you coerce a poor she-wolf into being your Mate. Wait until you find your goddess gifted Mate." she continued to rant. "She is my goddess-gifted Mate." Nick tried to placate her.
She looked to Jeremy for confirmation. He nodded to her, "she is granny. But a bit of a rocky start, due to meeting each other before they knew and a bit of, what...a turf war I guess."
"Mating Alliance is needed then?"
"Because Lucinda is very stubborn, I unintentionally insulted her before I found out she was my Mate." Nick explained to his granny truthfully. "What was the insult?"
Nick huffed, Jeremy smiled. Oh yes, his granny was about to drag her Alpha through every humiliation she could and likely punish him too.
"I called her a mutt"
Jeremy saw it coming before Nick did. She picked up her walking cane, not that she needed one, she just found it useful to hit tall people with. Whacked him with it, right on his leg good and proper. Which caused Rip to snarl at her. Flora snarled right back, then she whacked him again once more for good measure and pointed her old crooked finger at him "Don't you give me that boy. I might be old, but I still bite." "Now Bella, I am still your Alpha." Nick said calmly, but it was a warning and Jeremy knew it.
"I don't care you're a bloody Frost, boy." she snapped right back at him.
"Yes, a Frost, but have I not improved this pack and made everyone safe?"
Jeremy watched his granny stare at her Alpha, debating with herself about what he'd said most likely. Then she held her plate out to Jeremy. "I need more cake to deal with the Frost boy."
Jeremy nodded and went to get more cake. Cut her two slices and put them on her plate. The more alcohol she had the quicker she would mellow out and help Nick out. He just had to make sure she didn't have enough to pass out and be of no use.
He handed her the plate and waved her back into her chair, thought about moving her cane away. But he figured he'd probably get hit by it, so he left it. Nick was going to have to deal with her, hitting him with it if she didn't like something he said. "I have read up on Luna's but have no idea really how to treat one and what is a Luna Ceremony?"
He seemed to just bite the bullet and lay it all out, probably thought there was no chance of her becoming annoyed with him if he was up front.
"Dear Goddess," she looked skyward as if praying to the Goddess herself. "Clueless is an understatement." she turned her eyes back on him and huffed, then shook her head "Treat her with respect and love her. No cheating on her boy. No tossing her aside for some other piece of a*s you think might be good to stick it in."
Nick's expression was completely priceless, her word choice had completely shocked him. His mouth had fallen open and his eyes were very wide. Jeremy had heard her say it before. No news to him.
Once Nick got past the shock of granny's coarse words, he blinked and shook his head. "I have no intention of doing that. I like my Mate."
"You'd better. Or I'll come down and wallop you good boy...your father and brothers could have used a good walloping."
"Agreed. Nick simply nodded "Certainly no argument from me on that one, and I did wallop one to death granny." he added, reminding her of his Alpha Duel with Liam.
"Good." she at her 2nd piece of cake "A Luna Ceremony is your Luna's official introduction to your pack...its basically a big and lavish ball where you announce her to the pack and pledge your loyalty to her in front of the entire pack...takes some planning actually, and is usually held on a full moon. To show respect to the moon goddess herself, she can look down on you, showing her that you thank her, for giving you your gift. Something you will respect, honour and treasure for the rest of your natural life."
Nick nodded but didn't really say anything. Jeremy figured the poor guy was in way over his head, and trying to absorb this information, it certainly was not what had happened for the past 30 years in this pack.
"Okay...who plans it?"
"The Luna she's taking over from, would once upon a time have been your mother." granny rubbed her hand over her face "That's not likely to happen. Her mother would likely be your best bet then." "deceased."
"Where did she come from then?" Granny, it seemed to Jeremy was finally being helpful, that rum must have kicked in finally. A good thing. Jeremy sat down again. "Half Moon Pack."
"Then boy. I would suggest you contact their Luna and ask her to come here and sort it out. It's not likely a Luna will say no to planning a Luna Ceremony." Jeremy chuckled "Yes, let's invite Luna Lindy here. Your new mother."
Nick glared right at him. "Shut it."
Nick managed to dodge the hit that came his way. For disrespecting Jeremy in his granny's eyes. Jeremy laughed out loud as his granny shot to her feet, even he no longer got out of the way. It only made her crankier. She picked up her cane and whacked him with it again.
'It's best not to dodge Nick. Makes her more cranky.' Jeremy said through the link with a chuckle.
'Bloody old woman loves to hit, I see.'
'yep. He loved his granny and she was a good old wolf until you ticked her off, that was.
"New mother?" she asked
"I told her Alpha and Luna to treat her as they would their own child in order to get my mating alliance"
Jeremy watched as his granny sat back down and stared at Nick very long and very hard, bit into her 3rd piece of cake "You pissed off her Luna, didn't you boy...she forbid your Mating right."
"Yes, unintentionally, Bella."
"Bloody clueless." she shook her head and was snapping her fingers at Jeremy to gain his attention "Go to my room boy, I have some of the packs Luna Library in there. Someone had to save those books from that bastard burning them all." "What?" both he and Nick asked at the same time.
"A long story, perhaps for another time. Go get the book boy. It'll be titled The Luna Ceremony." then she was waving him off in the direction of her small bedroom.
Jeremy headed off to her room. There were books stacked neatly in the corner, they'd always been there and though she had never stopped him from perusing them, he'd never thought of giving them to Nick. He'd never wanted a Luna, just an heir. There had been no point really.
He found the book and collected it, walked back into the living area to find his granny had nodded off. 3 slices of rum cake too much, he thought, with a smile. He handed the book to Nick and grabbed the throw rug and covered her up with it. "Time to go Nick"
Nick got up out of the chair, poor bastard was stiff and sore.
"I want that photo." he muttered to Jeremy as they headed back to the pack-house.
"I don't know what you're talking about, boss," Jeremy snorted with laughter.
It had been a nice day today and they had walked up here to granny's house, a nice 1 hour stroll.
"probably should have warned you about her smacking fetish."
"Would have been nice." Nick nodded, his head was already in the book. Jeremy could see the change in his friend, he did actually really like his Mate. He did want to show her respect and have her as a valued member of the pack. Jeremy didn't see him treating her like his father or brothers, that was for sure. Lucinda was going to be good for this pack.
"Perhaps we could plan this!" he murmured.
"I'd ask your new mother." Jeremy smirked. Copped a glare from Nick, but chuckled anyway.
"Maybe Samantha could help," he mused.
Jeremy thought it would be much more amusing if Luna Lindy was here. Perhaps he would have a word with Lucinda on the side and get her to insist on the woman coming to help. Surely that would cause some fun or mischief even. A plan was brewing.
