He talked fast, worried that the man would genuinely harm his son. He owed the child a lot and did not wish for him to suffer more harm.

Seeing his anxious look, the man was satisfied. He wanted Mike to be distraught so that he would know that doing an excellent job for him would be the best way out.

"Fine, I won't put you on the spot!" Waving, he said casually, "I know you couldn't, so I've already asked someone else to do it. We can soon move to a spacious and suitable place to do our experiment, so get ready. For the time being, focus on gathering empirical data and avoiding distractions."

Mike was taken aback. "You've found a new place? Where is it?"

Mike did not give up. "You can choose not to tell me, but I've got to remind you that this is Kingsland, and we can't do whatever we want here. We're not overseas. We would have no place to hide if others truly discovered us."

I might also tell you that we would have a safe place to conduct our experiment, and the army of Hyderland would also offer us protection. Do you believe me?" Mike was bewildered.

"No, there's still no news of your son," the chauffeur in front answered in a low voice.

"What about Lily?"

"We haven't found her yet. We tracked the signal to a nearby town, but the signal was flashing fast, and there was an anti-tracking device, so the GPS positioning failed..."

The man's voice grew softer and softer, perhaps thinking that they had failed the task.

"A town?" Narrowing his eyes, Mike was puzzled. "What was she doing there?"

'What could a woman be doing in a small town by not bringing her bodyguards and child along? I guess it's just a leisure trip of a sort.'

'An ordinary woman might go on a leisure trip when she's having a bad mood, but not Lily! If she's alone, then something is up. She must've gone to the town to look for something or someone. I wonder who she is looking for?'
