His Unwanted Wife Again
Chapter Twenty-One

UNEDITED

After Nathan, Sabrina, and Jasmine left the cemetery, they stopped at a seafood restaurant and had a late lunch for the first time together as a family.

They picked a booth by a tinted window and put Jasmine's car seat in a corner.

Shortly after they ordered their food, paparazzi showed up. Sabrina and Nathan did their best to ignore it. After all, the regular people in the restaurant were doing the same thing. Snapping pictures and videos with their phones. If they wanted to have a meal out, ignoring it is just what they were going to have to do.

Jasmine was really hungry and had to be fed as soon as they arrived. Nathan fed her, and now she laid in his arms like she was in a hammock and wide awake.

As new parents, they watched her every move in awe. They spent most of there conversation talking about all the cute little things she did and how much she changed since birth.

"I can't wait until she's running all over the place." Sabrina shares her excitement.

"Yeah, she will be a real little person." He reaches out and holds on to her hand in the center of the table.

"What is she now?" She jokes.

"You know what I mean."

Sabrina giggles uncontrollably.

One of his brows elevates like he was in disbelief.

He places Jasmine in her car seat and suddenly he leans across. His fingers curve around her neck and jaw while giving her a soft but meaningful kiss.

"What was that for?" She blushes.

"For being you." He smiles as he places his backside back in the booth. Giving their marriage was either the smartest thing he as ever has done or the stupidest. Right now he felt like he made the right choice. They could definitely make things work. "And to shut you up." He adds.

"Hey..."Her smile was wiped clean.

He laughs. Even with people watching their every move they manage to have a great time together. For once they didn't speak or think about any of the negatives in their lives.

Later that night, after Jasmine was in bed, They split up. Sabrina took a long hot shower and cozied her self up in bed. She had a long, but wonderful day.

If this is what one day looked like with them getting to spend it together then she knew she could make this work. Things were changing between them. He was changing. She closed her eyes with hopefulness on the brain.

The door creaks open after a few minutes of her mind running through the day. "Nathan?" She calls out.

"Yes, sweetheart." He lifts the blanket, crawls into bed beside her, and pulls her onto his chest.

"Hmm." She moans and snuggles herself closer. "I love you." She whispers.

He squeezes. "I love you, sweetheart." He kisses her on her forehead.

She kisses his chest in response. "Nathan."

"Hmm." He lifts her hand that was laying across his stomach and begins playing with her fingers.

"I never stopped loving you and I don't think I'm capable of being able to stop loving you. I don't want our happiness to end and I appreciate you giving me another chance."

"Shhh." He shushes her. "You don't have to thank me for anything." He kisses her hand. "I should be the one thanking you for my daughter, and for loving me for the hot-headed idiot that I am."

She laughs and sticks her face in his chest. "You're not an idiot."

"Look at me." He orders softly

She tilts her head up and before she could connect with his eyes his lips were on hers. He puts his arm around her waist and pulls her completely on his body. There kiss turns into a full-blown make-out session. Then their make-out session turned into making love. After, they fell asleep soundly intertwined between each other's arms.

Sabrina woke during the night to feed

Jasmine, but in the morning before Nathan left for work he gave her a bottle and put her back to sleep.

When he was done he entered their bedroom and sat on the bed near his wife, freshly showered and dressed.

She was laying on her side, exactly how he'd left her. He clears hair away from her beautiful eyes. "Sweetheart." She whispers and goes straight for her lips. He touches them very lightly and moves to her jaw and neck. "Hmmm," She moans and puts her hand around his jaw in her half-sleep.

"I'm leaving for work." He whispers and moves his kissing near her ear. "I've fed Jasmine, so don't worry. Get some extra rest today." He smiles gently. "You need it." "Hmmm." She responds

"I love you. Call me if you need anything." He gives her one last kiss on her temple and leaves the condo.

About an hour and a half later while he was sitting in a group meeting he excused himself to answer his phone.

"Hello."

"Did I hear you tell me you fed Jasmine this morning?" It was his beautiful wife.

He smiles. "Yes my love, you can breath easy."

"Oh...I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or something."

Nathan steps closer to a nearby window and sticks his hand in his pocket. "No, you weren't dreaming. I told you something else too."

"What's that?"

"I love you." He whispers

He didn't hear a response from her but he didn't care. He knew she was blushing. "You're blushing." He pulls his hand out of his pocket and runs it through his hair. "I am."

"I mean it you know that right?" He adds.

"I know, and I love you more."

"

"Not possible."He states matter of factly. He then clears his throat in nervousness "Sabrina...I am truly sorry for the way I have treated you. I should have never left. I should have been a better husband to you. I realized now that you are you. The you I've always known and I insulted you in anger when all along I should have realized that you were hurting and you made a mistake. I kick myself everyday for not sticking by you through everything and getting you help." Guilt was eating at him.

"I wish you would have stuck by me too." She replies in a hushed tone.

"I let my anger get the best of me. Can you ever forgive me?"

"Of course." It was her fault. She gave him reasons to doubt her.

"I want you to understand that you are the only person that can hurt me. You have that power and I was angrier with myself forever letting you have that. I couldn't stop caring. I couldn't stop hurting."

"Why are you saying this?" She cuts him off.

"Because after today, we are never going to speak of this. From this day forward our marriage is going to get a real fresh start. No more talk of Judd or our past mistakes. There is no changing them. All we can do is not hold them against each other, and move on with our lives." After a brief moment of quiet from both of them. "What do you think?"

"Okay." She agrees. This is what they needed.

"I can't wait for you to get home."

"Me too. What are you wearing?" He asks and changes the subject entirely.

She giggles. "I think I'd rather you dream up something then actually know." "Whys that?"

"It's not an outfit I want you thinking about all day."

"Tell me anyway." He wanted to know now.

"The same t-shirt that I slept in, and leggings."

"Hmm."

"See I told you not something you want to imagine."

"You're clothes are just an obstacle from what I really want anyway..."

She laughs.

"I really miss you." He loved hearing her laugh.

"I miss you too. Come home soon." She orders. "I'll be waiting for you."

He rubs the back of his neck. "Don't tempt me. I have so much to do and I won't be able to focus."

"Sir." Nathan hears someone behind him. It was Genevieve. She has recently come back from her leave of absence after breaking her ankle in some sort of accident that he didn't care to get specifications on. "Shit." He says under his breath.

"What?" Sabrina asks.

"I have to go sweetheart. I am supposed to be in a meeting." He looks over at Genevieve still standing by the door. "I'll be right there." He sends her away.

"Sorry. I wasn't thinking I just called." Sabrina apologizes.

"It's okay sweetheart. You can call me anytime."

"Okay, I'm going to hang up now."

"I love you." He wanted to say to her again.

She blushes. "I love you."

"You're blushing again aren't you?"

"Don't you have a meeting?"

He laughs. "I'm going...I'll call you later."

"Okay." She hangs up.

Nathan looks at the phone and felt hopeful. It was the weirdest thing when the same person who caused your unhappiness is able to make to happy again. After his meeting, he sat in his office with a ton of his todo list when his cell phone rings. It was Clarissa.

"Hello." Nathan saves his email to a draft and answers. He had called her three times since the other night with no answer.

"Hi." She replies.

"How is everything?" He asks.

"How can you do it?" She asks instead of answering.

"Do what?"

"How are you capable of forgiving Sabrina?"

He clears his throat. "I know she wasn't in a good place."

Clarissa lets out a sob. "I want to forgive him. I really do. It hurts too much. I can barely look at him."

"How are the kids?" He asks.

"They think their father is away for work."

"Where is he really?"

"At a hotel a few miles away. I can't let them know what's going on. It will break their hearts."

"Is there anything Sabrina and I can do?"

"No." She pauses to clear her hoarse voice. "No one can help."

"Time will help," Nathan tells her although time didn't help him much. The only thing that seems to help him is being with Sabrina again.

Clarissa didn't say anything. Nathan only hears her sniffle.

"I wish I knew what to say. I'm not... good...at this kind of thing." He rubs the back of his neck.

"Tell me why you decided to give Sabrina another chance."

He lets out a breath. "I love her I guess."

"I love Jacob too and I thought I knew him,

up until a few nights ago. How can you know that you can trust her again? Even if I could get over him being with someone else, I don't know if I will ever be able to believe anything he says." Nathan was quiet. He was thinking.

"And I had no idea. I mean, absolutely none. I was so stupid. I believed everything he said. He had to work late, too busy to call on his lunch hour. " her voice became hoarse again. "For so long he lied so easily. How can I ever trust myself? My own instincts to know whether or not he's lying?"

"I guess you'll never really know." What could he say? Everything she was saying was making sense.

She sniffles.

"Honestly Clarissa, I'm not the right person to give you advice. I struggle every day with what happened." He clears his throat.

"How do you keep going every day?"

"I choose to believe her. I choose to believe her until she gives me a reason to believe otherwise."

"And risk getting hurt again. I get it. You love her so much that you're willing to risk your heart. I wish that I was as strong as you are, for the kids at least."

Nathan didn't respond. She was calling him strong but, he views himself as weak. He believed Sabrina simply because it was an easier thing to do than live without her in pain. Now he wonders if he could trust his own judgment. Was he blinded by his feelings for her?

She sniffles. "I'm gonna go."

After Nathan hung up the phone he couldn't stop his mind from thinking. He didn't have a good image of marriage. Maybe people aren't supposed to be with one person. Maybe one jealous person had enough power in their time to change the rules. Love is a curse.

He had originally planned to try to leave work at a decent hour but decided he needed to work.

"I'll be working late." He texts Sabrina.

"I" She replies.

Later that night, he arrived home after midnight. He turns on the kitchen lights and sees a note on the oven. "Dinner inside." It read

Once he was finished eating he enters the bedroom. He hits the switch of a small lamp and begins undressing. Sabrina looked so peaceful. She was laying on her side with her arm and leg thrown over to his side of the bed.

He crawls into bed, in only his boxers, lays on his side, slides his arm around her and pulls her closer to him. He lets out a low grumble as her scent flows through his nostrils. Now he wished he came home sooner.
