His Unwanted Wife Again
Chapter Twenty-Three

UNEDITED

A week passes with things going just as they were. Nathan was moody and sometime-ish. One moment he showed so much love and then the next, annoyance.

Her mind raced with countless things she wanted to act on, but she didn't move on any of them. She had no idea what to do. If she gave up would that be wrong? She didn't want to give up but, he was in pain because of her. He states that he could forgive her but she didn't think he could. She sat on the sofa and stared out into the gigantic windows slowly taking in her realizations. What was she supposed to do? Was there a right way to do this?

Later that day, Jasmine was acting really fussy. She didn't know what to do so she put her in her stroller and literally began pushing her around the condo and it worked.

After a few minutes, she peeks in to see if Jasmine was sleeping. She wasn't, she was gazing at the ceiling. She hated that her little baby was looking at only at the ceiling. She pushes the stroller near the counter and grabs her phone "Hello." Nathan picks up after two rings.

"I want to take Jasmine to the park." She wasn't asking, just notifying.

"Okay." He agrees. "Are you sure you want to be in the public?"

She was never going to be ready but anything for Jasmine. "I'll have to eventually, plus I think Jasmine needs the fresh air."

He lets out a breath. "I'm not really comfortable with this." He rubs the back of his neck and leans back in his chair. He didn't want them to go out without him. He was just worried something might happen but he had to let them. What kind of life would they have if they waited for him to take them places? "I'm sending extra security."

"Okay."

Her extra security were four men watching her every move. It disappointed her that none of the four men were Conner or Hunter. They were always making her laugh when they were around. It's like hey could see the unhappiness she hadn't realized she felt.

The new bodyguards weren't as friendly, but they took guarding her seriously. She didn't know their names and they didn't speak a word to her unless it was something to do with her protection. Other than that, Jasmine loved it. Later that night she leaned back in the rocking chair holding and staring at her daughter. She was so confused and emotionally drained with her life. She has to tell him that she didn't cheat on him, but would he believe her? No matter what happens he needs to know that. No matter if it ends their second chance.

She stops the rocking of the chair when she hears the front door opening and closing. It was just after eight, an early day for Nathan. She settles Jasmine in her crib and found Nathan pulling his dinner out of the oven. She remembered the days when the first thing he did when he came home was come straight to her.

"Hey." She greets him.

"Hey." He holds up his plate. "Thanks for dinner."

She smiles and joins him as he sits on the circular table.

"How was your day?" She asks.

He nods as if that answered her question.

She was frustrated with this. Why the hell is she here if this is how he was going to behave. She was beginning to think he lied and all he was in this marriage for is Jasmine and Jasmine alone. That wasn't something she was willing to accept. A chance to give Jasmine a happy family was one of her main reasons for being there, but if things continue this way, she would be doing the opposite. She will not put her daughter through that.

Even now as she would play with her daughter and laugh it wasn't her biggest and truest laugh. She was always worried about Nathan. She let her hands fall to her lap and looks at them as her fingers play with each other. How could she feel so uncomfortable with her own husband?

"Have I done something to offend you?" She finds the courage to meets his eyes.

"Why would you ask that?" He takes a sip of his water.

"You seem to always be angry with me."

"I'm tired." He continues to eat.

This wasn't a marriage. She laughed more with her security. That reminds her. "What happened to Hunter and Conner?"

He swallows as slowly narrows his eyes to her.

"I let them go."

"Why? Nathan..." She was shocked.

"How about the phone that hit your face?"

"I told you it wasn't their fault."

He stops eating, crosses his arms, and leans back in his chair.

"They didn't deserve to lose their jobs."

"Does it matter who your security is? You know I wouldn't hire anyone incompetent."

"They were nice, and I felt like they would care about us whether you were paying them or not."

He clenches his jaw, Shakes his head, and looks away.

That's when she realized. He didn't trust her with them. That's why there were four new bodyguards and they didn't speak to her at all.

He didn't trust her one bit. When she admitted to cheating on him she thought that he thought it was to get pregnant. Not because she physically wanted to. Now she realized it was much more than that if he could think that she would sleep with one of her bodyguards. She couldn't believe that he viewed her this way but she did it to herself.

"You think I would sleep with one of them?" She asks.

After a moment of silence, he replies. "I told you that you need to earn my trust back."

That was it, she had enough. Her eyes involuntarily drop to the ground. Her gut felt like it was tied up into knots and her vision became blurry. When she lifted her head to meet his eyes bravely. He wasn't looking at her. The moment he did, he sees a single tear fall from each of her eyes.

Holy shit. He was hurting her. He couldn't handle it. He gets up from his chair and moves to her side. She stands up and backs away from him.

"Why are we doing this?" She needed to know.

He moves closer to her grabs her wrist to hold her in place. Once he manages to keep her in front of him he uses his thumbs to wipe away her tears.

"Stop." She pushes his hands and turns away. "Please, don't touch me."

"Sabrina." He didn't like that. "I'm your husband, and I can't stand to see you this way."

She lets out a sob and her body jerks. God damn it she hated crying but she couldn't help it. They couldn't be together. End of story.

"Hey hey hey." He encircles her waist and turns her to face him. "Please stop crying. Whatever it is, we'll fix it."

She sticks her head on his chest trying not to want to see her face. She could feel his heart pumping extra fast and feel the warmth come off of him. She was so freakin weak for him.

"I'm sorry." He whispers.

She pushes away from him, wipes her eyes, and sniffles a few times. "You're obviously unhappy." She points out.

He stands completely frozen and watches her with creased brows.

"I think this second chance has run its course."

"Sabrina." He protests.

"How can you want to be with me, but think I would sleep with one of my bodyguards?"

He looks at the ground. "I." He pauses. "You lied to me for a very long time. You claimed your innocence right up until the point I gave you a chance to be with me again. I don't know what to make of that."

"You bullied me!" She shouts. Crap her eyes were burning. She turns her back towards him and hides more tears. "I'm such an idiot." Her voice squeaked out.

"Please stop crying. He rests his palms on her shoulders.

She jerks away from him. "Please don't touch me." She takes a few steps away from him. Then she goes to the counter and grabs a napkin. She wipes her eyes and nose and looks back at him. "I've never cheated on you." She blurts out. His brows join together.

"You see, I love you so much that I said what you needed to hear. I said, what I needed to be with you again, for my daughter to grow up with I had." More tears that she couldn't hold back kept pouring out. "I know what you're thinking. Desperate and pathetic right?"

He takes in her words in complete confusion. "Please stop crying." He begs.

"I'm trying." She almost yells.

He couldn't look at her this way. He runs frustrated fingers through his hair. "What you're saying is that you were never with Judd? You're taking back what you've admitted."

"Yes." She wipes her nose and throws her tissue in the wastebasket. Then she leans up back against the island and watches his blank stare.

At this point, they were standing 10ft away from each other.

"I wanted us to have a chance. I know that I changed after Auden's death. I know that's why you couldn't trust me. I thought if we had a chance, you would see that I'm still the same person. But my lie made you distrust me more." "You've never slept with Judd?" He asks again.

"No." She looks him straight in the eyes.

His brows furrow.

"I don't know how all of this happened. All I know is that I was wrong for leaving your side. I didn't handle myself like I should have. But I did not cheat on you. Judd showed up at my mother's house confessing his love to me and tried to kiss me. I pushed him away and got really upset, but there was no picture of that, only of his unexpected kiss. I honestly believe that I was setup. But I don't know how to prove it."

He stayed frozen in his position. Then after long moments of silence, he clears his throat. "Why didn't you call me right away?"

"I was afraid you would kill him. And to be honest, it was the last thing on my mind. I knew I wasn't myself I was just trying to get better. The last thing I thought was you would doubt my every word."

"Judd came to me after the pictures came out. He told me you wanted him for a baby." He clears his throat.

"What? That liar!" She makes fists at her sides. "You believed Judd over me?" She eyes him suspiciously.

"No." He denies firmly. "You were different and walked into my office like you were ignorant. How can you expect anyone sane person to believe you? It was in almost everywhere, every website, every trash magazine."

"I was ignorant!" She cuts him off. "But you never gave me a chance to explain myself, so like an idiot, I lied so our marriage would have another chance."

He looks down at the ground and searches the marble tiles. When he looked at her he didn't know if the truth was in her eyes, remembering that day and before it, he didn't give her a chance to explain. He was just so outraged with the way she came into his office with no explanation. Just complete denial but he still wanted to believe her. "You think Judd set you up?"

"If he went to you with a complete lie, then I guess so." She could tell he was doubting her. It hurt so bad. He had no faith in her. "Why or how I don't know." She bows her head, not wanting him to see just how hurt she was. She couldn't believe she was crying because of him. This marriage wasn't healthy.

"Please.." He pleads. It was killing him watching her sadness. "Stop crying."

"I'm going to bed." She just couldn't anymore. She didn't know what she would do or say if she continued this conversation.
