Chapter 515 A Call for Help

Initially, Chen Hao had promised to have lunch with Zhang Min. But now, Chen Hao decided to have lunch with Meng Kang instead as he wanted to learn more information from Meng Kang. So, Chen Hao called Zhang Min to cancel the date.

"So, how is it? Is he coming?" Zhu Lili asked anxiously.

"He's not coming. Maybe he's afraid to meet you guys!" Zhang Min answered with a slight disappointment in her tone.

"Luckily he's not coming. As Wang suggested, we shall have our lunch at the Grand Hotel of Long Jiang straight away and take this opportunity to experience what the best hotel in Long Jiang has to offer!" Zhu Lili was thrilled at the idea, while Zhang Min simply nodded in a sulky mood. Later, all of them headed toward the Grand Hotel of Long Jiang.

"I'm sorry but the hotel is completely booked today. Ladies and gentlemen, perhaps you can go to another hotel instead. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience!"

Surprisingly, they were stopped by the staff when they arrived at the entrance of the hotel. This really disappointed the enthusiastic Zhu Lili. She even had her cell phone ready for some great photographs once she was in the hotel. But, now, she could not even enter the premises.

"Well, there must be a lot of people inside to have the hotel fully booked. But, it's such a big hotel, are you sure there's not even a single place for us?" Zhu Lili questioned.

The staff shook his head.

"Oh, damn!" Zhu Lili angrily stomped her feet on the ground.

"Forget about it then. Let's just go someplace else instead. It won't make any difference anyway," Zhang Min advised.

They decided to leave the hotel. The reluctant Zhu Lili, however, kept glancing over at the place.

At the same time, several luxurious cars drove toward the hotel and halted at the entrance. Many notables of Long Jiang came out of their cars. They smoothed out their suits and stood in front of the entrance. They seemed to be waiting for someone in front of the hotel.

"Hey guys, come quick, see this! Isn't that Mr. Lu Zongyuan, the Head of the Lu Family?" Zhu Lili exclaimed in surprise.

Zhang Min nodded. "Yeah, that is Mr. Lu. It turned out that the whole Grand Hotel of Long Jiang was booked by Mr. Lu. No wonder!"

"But Mr. Lu had never organized such a grand arrangement for any of the previous exchange conventions. There's only one possibility-he's expecting some really important guests this time!" Zhang Min speculated.

"Important guests?" Zhu Lili and the others watched the crowd curiously.

Suddenly, doors of a car in the middle of the motorcade sprang open. An elderly man came out of the car. The man then politely invited a young man out of the car. Mr. Lu stepped forward and shook the young man's hand with respect.

When Zhu Lili saw the young man, she was completely dumbfounded. "Ah! Isn't... that Chen Hao?"

Zhang Min, too, covered her mouth in surprise. "Yes. It is Chen Hao. He said he couldn't come because he had some important business to attend to. It turned out he came to the Grand Hotel of Long Jiang to meet Lu Zongyuan!"

"But Zhang Min, look, Mr. Lu and the others treat him well with respect. Why did they treat a loser like Chen Hao with such respect?"

Zhu Lili was in a daze; seeing Chen Hao receiving such treatment from Lu Zongyuan and other notables in Long Jiang was a real slap to her face. It was unbelievable that the person she had looked down on would be so well-connected. She was unsure whether it was an illusion, but she suddenly thought Chen Hao-though still in his simple and plain clothes-looked rather dashing when he stood among those wealthy notables. Zhu Lili bit her lips, regretting her previous perception of Chen Hao.

Meanwhile, Chen Hao, who was oblivious to Zhu Lili's dreamy stare of admiration, had entered the hotel with Lu Zongyuan, the Head of the Lu Family, Meng Kang and the others. Chen Hao thought that it would be just a simple lunch with Meng Kang; he did not expect that Meng Kang would invite Lu Zongyuan too!

"Meng, are you sure the young man is a martial arts practitioner with extraordinary ability? He looks like an ordinary young man to me!" Lu Zongyuan whispered to Meng Kang while following behind the crowd. "Zongyuan, have I ever lied to you before? Don't underestimate Mr. Chen. His capability is beyond us!" Meng Kang reassured.

"It'll be great if he is what you said he is. I'm sure we'll be able to overcome the Lu Family's crisis with ease. If we manage to survive this time, the Lu Family will be indebted to you and we'll honor you with great respect!"

"Ha! Honor me with great respect? Well, I suggest you use that effort of yours to think of how to plead for Mr. Chen's assistance in overcoming the family's crisis. I'm sure the problem will be solved if you can have Mr. Chen on our side!"

As they talked, the crowd entered a private dining room. At the banquet, the crowd exchanged some brief greetings. After some drinks and toasts, Meng Kang touched his wine glass, signaling Lu Zongyuan to talk to Chen Hao.

Lu Zongyuan, however, still thought Chen Hao was an inexperienced young lad; he simply could not bring himself to swallow his pride and ask for the help of an unknown young man.

Bang! Suddenly, a middle-aged man who sat beside Lu Zongyuan put down his wine glass heavily. "Mr. Lu, I don't understand. What is the purpose of today's lunch banquet? To whom do you want to show hospitality?"

The middle-aged man was unhappy because Chen Hao was stealing the limelight by being in the VIP seat. Besides, he felt offended by the excessive flatteries in Lu Zongyuan's words when the latter was conversing with Chen Hao.

"Well, Mr. Zhang, today's lunch banquet, of course, is for our guest, Mr. Chen right here!" Meng Kang said with a faint smile.

"Mr. Chen? Ha! Excuse my ignorance but I've never heard of any Mr. Chen or Mr. Li before in my whole life! We have you, Mr. Meng, the strongest practitioner of all time, and me, Zhang Tie, here to help the Lu Family in the exchange convention. I don't understand why you still need a punk like him?" Zhang Tie smirked.

"Zhang Tie, don't be rude!" Meng Kang rebuked immediately, feeling nervous.

On the other hand, Lu Zongyuan, who sat in the middle between Meng Kang and Zhang Tie, remained silent; he obviously agreed with Zhang Tie's opinion. Chen Hao heard them too. Finally, he realized Meng Kang invited him for lunch with a purpose! Chen Hao stared at Meng Kang.

Meng Kang lowered his head apologetically. "Mister, allow me to explain. The truth is Zongyuan and I are friends and I owed him a favor years ago. I promised I'll return the favor if he needs any help in future. And now, the Lu Family is in danger, so I have come to honor my promise. But unfortunately, our opponents are too strong and I'm afraid we are no match for them. So, I'm wondering if you could help us." Meng Kang went straight to the point.

"I'm sorry, but I do not wish to be a part of your business!" Chen Hao rejected coldly.

Lu Zongyuan frowned and put down his wine glass. Sitting beside him, Zhang Tie shouted, "Hey punk, what do you mean, you don't want to be a part of our business? That's rubbish! I think you're just scared! Come on, I challenge you to a fight! Just show me everything you got and let Mr. Lu see what you're capable of!"

"A fight? Forget about it, I'm not interested!" Chen Hao refused.

Lu Zongyuan crossed his legs. I thought he's really an expert! Looks like he's a fraud after all!

"Ha! Mr. Meng Kang, I think it's pointless to continue our lunch now. I better go. Thank you for your hospitality!" Chen Hao smiled at Meng Kang after throwing a glance at the other people. "Mister, please don't go!" Meng Kang grabbed Chen Hao when the latter rose from his seat.

"Mr. Chen, it's my fault that I didn't tell you the truth about today's lunch. You told me that you want to find the Spiritual Fox. In order to find it, I believe you need this item. So, to show my apology, I've asked my men to prepare the item." Meng Kang waved his hand and his man came in with a map.

"Mister, this is a map on the An Ling Primeval Forest. Since the history of mankind, not many people were able to fully explore the Primeval Forest. But my great-grandparents had trained in the forest before and they drew this map. I doubt the map will be of great help to you, but I still think it might come in handy sometimes. Here, I want you to have it!"

"Meng, your family needs the map to find-" Lu Zongyuan goggled at Meng Kang in disbelief, but he was interrupted by Meng Kang when the latter raised his hand.

"Mister, please take it!" Meng Kang said sincerely.

Chen Hao took the map and thought it would be easier for him to explore the forest with the help of this map.

At the same time, Zhang Tie snatched the map from Chen Hao and yelled, "Give me that! Hey you, Chen, it seems the map is really important to you. But look, the map is here in my hand. If you want it, then come and take it!" Zhang Tie smirked.
