Chapter 616: Buying you flowers every day from now on.

Zane stared at Yanis for a few seconds. "For... for me?" he asked.

Yanis nodded. "I don't have any friends as tall as you yet, but maybe in the future..."

"Yanis," Zane interrupted her before she could finish her sentence.

When Yanis heard his voice, she stopped and looked at him. "Yes?"

Zane didn't say anything, he just stepped forward and hugged Yanis tightly, almost squeezing her into his body so much that it hurt a little.

Yanis let him hold her for a while before gently patting his back with one hand. "Are you trying to murder me?" she joked.

After hearing Yanis' words, Zane finally let go of her.

Just as Yanis was about to say something else, she noticed that Zane's eyes were slightly red around the edges. She was startled and asked him if he was okay.

Zane pulled her back into his embrace again and rested his chin on her shoulder. He whispered softly in her ear, "I'm fine; I'm just really happy."

Thinking about the expression on Zane's face earlier made Yanis wonder why he seemed so emotional all of a sudden.

She had never seen this side of him before because in her mind, Zane had always been cold and unfeeling - not someone who would show too many emotions like this...

But now she realized that even though Zane usually kept himself under control emotionally most of the time, there were still times when he couldn't help but show how he felt inside.

With one hand still holding onto the flowers awkwardly while being held by Zane like this made Yanis feel uncomfortable after a while; so she shifted slightly and said softly: "Can you please let go? You're crushing my flowers."

Instead of letting go though, it seemed like Zane only tightened his grip around Yanis even more tightly than before.

"Yanis," he said after pausing for several seconds. "Let me hold you for just a little longer..."

After holding onto each other silently for some time more, Zanespoke up again: "From now on, I'll buy flowers for you every day."

"Really no need," replied Yani with laughter.

Zane said nothing else, holding onto Yani until finally releasing her from his arms.

Looking at each other, Yani saw that the redness in Zane's eyes was gone, and then told him it was getting late and he should go home. Zane looked at Yanis and nodded, he then added:"I'll wait here until I see you safely inside your apartment building."

Without any further argument or hesitation, Yanis agreed quietly: "Okay, goodnight."

"Goodnight." Zane stood at the door, watching Yanis enter and the lights on the second floor turn on. He then turned around and got into his car. When he saw the clothes on the back seat, Zane couldn't help but smile. He sat in the car for a while before finally driving away.

Yanis stood by the window, watching Zane's car leave before turning her attention to a bouquet of flowers that she had set aside. She arranged them in a vase and counted them - there were eleven in total. After putting them into the vase, Yanis went to freshen up. Exhausted from a long day, she quickly fell asleep.

Perhaps it was because of what happened with Zane earlier that evening, but Yanis had some strange dreams that night. However, throughout all of them, Zane was always by her side - they were like characters in their own story, where everything was about them.

Zane also didn't sleep all night. Looking at the clothes Yanis bought for him, the uncontrollable pleasure made Zane simply lose sleep all night.

The next day, when Yanis had some free time, she decided to visit Mia and Bonnie at their store. As she was about to head out, though someone unexpected arrived at her shop's doorstep: Anna Johnson. Yanis was surprised to see Anna, there but tried not to let it show as she greeted her politely: "Miss Johnson."

Anna ignored her greeting, however, and instead began browsing through displays as if nothing else mattered except what caught her eye: "Is this your store or Bonnie's?"

Her tone was a little annoying, but rather than react negatively herself, Yanis simply replied calmly: "It is mine, Miss Johnson; feel free to look around if you'd like." Yanis treated her like a normal guest, without any mood swings in her attitude or tone.

After hearing Yanis' words, Anna snorted through her nose. "Are these things all authentic? Or are they just high-quality knockoffs with the brand name attached?"

Yanis was almost certain that Anna had come to pick a fight after hearing her words. She thought back and realized that she hadn't had any overly intimate contact with Iris recently, and it had been many days since he last saw her. Why would Anna suddenly show up at her door?

"Did I hit the nail on the head?" When Yanis didn't say anything, Anna looked at her with a knowing expression.

Yanis regained her composure and looked at Anna. Her tone was slightly colder than before. "Miss Johnson must not have much experience with these brands, if you think they're all knockoffs."

Given Anna's background, she must have some experience with these things. Her earlier comment was clearly meant to mock Yanis.

Of course Yanis wasn't one to take insults lying down; naturally, she would retaliate.

After hearing Yanis' words, the expression on Anna's face changed abruptly and then she chuckled softly. "Who do you think you're looking down upon?"

Yanis laughed lightly in response: "Anyone who has truly owned these brands wouldn't say something like what you just said; only someone who hasn't once bought them would make such a mistake." Anna's smile disappeared completely due to Yanis' remarks; even her gaze became cold as ice as she spoke: "Don't think you know everything, there is still so much knowledge of brands out there." Yanis nodded in agreement: "Yes indeed, Miss Johnson knows quite a bit about this stuff, but still mistakes them for knockoffs."

Just as Anna was about to retort against Yanis again, Bonnie came out with messy hair. Noticing another person around, Bonnie paused for a moment. After recognizing Anna, she walked over standing beside Yanis, saying sarcastically, "Oh! Miss Johnson came here visiting the little shop of Yannis? Isn't it lowering your status coming here?"

Bonnie's remark could be described as full of sarcasm.

The lingering smile on Anna's face was completely gone. She gave Bonnie a cold look and then looked at Yanis, "I came to see you about something."

After the heated argument they had just had, Yanis didn't feel like talking to Anna anymore. She simply replied, "There's nothing for me to talk about with you, Miss Johnson."
