Chapter 626: Yanis, Do You Like It?
Chapter 626: Yanis, do you like it?
After opening one of the boxes, Yanis was speechless.
Bonnie took a glance and immediately exclaimed in F word. "This is really extravagant! This is the new design for this year, and it hasn't even been officially released by the brand yet! Did Zane get it for you?"
With Bonnie's influence and Zane by her side, Yanis had some understanding of luxury goods. The bags and clothing from this brand were all jaw-droppingly expensive. Especially items like these that were no yet available to the public, they were outrageously priced.
Seeing Yanis standing still, Bonnie went ahead and opened another box to take a look inside. When she saw the neatly arranged clothes inside, she suddenly wanted to use another F word. "This is... simply amazing!"
After seeing these two things, Bonnie decided to help Yanis open up all of the other boxes as well. After looking through everything carefully herself though, Bonnie just got envious completely. "If Myles was like this, I would marry him right now!" She blurted out after holding back for so long.
When Yanis heard what Bonnie said, she turned towards her face with a look of dissatisfaction. "When did you become so shallow?"
Bonnie snorted in response, "I've always been shallow like this; I've never not been shallow before. If Myles was poor, do you think I'd even give him any attention?"
Yanis didn't want to argue with her about these things though; she just grabbed her phone instead and called Zane directly.
After several rings, Zane's voice was coming through,"Yanis? What's going on?"
Yanis got straight to business, "Did you have Albi send something over here?"
Zane responded with an affirmative sound, "Have you seen it? Do you like it?"
"Are you running out of places to spend your money recently?" Yanis asked sarcastically in return.
Zane avoided answering directly again though, as he asked another question instead, "Do you like what I sent over or not?"
"What if I said that I don't like it?" Yanis replied quietly.
There was silence from Zane's end for several seconds after hearing what Yanis had said before finally speaking again."Then tell me what do you actually want? I'll personally bring it over."
After hearing those words from Zane, there was silence once more from Yanis' end, as she thought about how best to respond. "I don't actually want anything at all."
Standing next to them listening in on their conversation however made Bonnie feel anxious enough that she wanted nothing more than snatch away Yanis' phone herself while shouting into it: "She likes YOU!" But before Bonnie could take action, Yanis spoke up, "I'll come find you later."
Bonnie didn't know how Zane on the other end of the line reacted.
As soon as Yanis hung up the phone, Bonnie looked at her and said, "You're awesome."
Ignoring Bonnie's comment, Yanis grabbed her car keys from the side and said, "I'm going out for a bit. Don't touch any of these things."
Bonnie reached out to stop her. "Yanis, wait a minute," she said.
But before Bonnie could finish her sentence, Linda came upstairs holding her phone and shouted out to her: "Boss! Phone call!"
Bonnie had no choice but to swallow her words and let go of Yanis's arm. She took the phone instead and told Linda to go back downstairs. Looking at the caller ID on Linda's phone screen first, then turning towards Yanis she said: "Wait here for a moment." Then she answered the call.
It was Myles' call.
"Bonnie? It's me."
Just as Bonnie was about to ask who it was, Haider spoke again from his end of the line instead.
Upon hearing Haider's voice over Myles' phone line, Bonnie felt slightly taken aback but still managed to say: "Haider?"
"Are you free right now?"
For some reason when Haider asked this question, an uneasy feeling rose in Bonnie's heart.
She hesitated for a few seconds before answering him with "Yes."
Yanis had intended on leaving earlier, but upon noticing that something seemed off with Bonnies expression, she decided against it and waited patiently by her side until she finished talking.
"Has Myles contacted you these past few days?" Haider continued asking questions that made it difficult for Bonnye to answer.
If this call were made using Haider's own personal cell-phone, then perhaps she would have been able to answer honestly by saying yes since they texted each other every day.
However now that it was clear that this particular call was being made through Myles' device instead; answering such questions truthfully becomes more difficult.
In a nod to his awkward question, Haider's voice called back, "Myles has been sending you messages from this phone for the last two days, hasn't he?" Bonnie says, "Yes."
"They are timed."
Bonnie was speechless for a moment when she heard this.
How well did Myles know her that he could predict how he would respond to anything she said?
Bonnie suppressed the turmoil in her heart and asked directly, "Haider, did something happen to Myles? Just tell me straight up."
Haider hesitated for a few seconds. "Are you at the store right now?"
"Yes," Bonnie replied.
"Come over to the office and see me. I have some other things going on right now and can't leave. Is that okay?"
"Okay, I'll come over now," Bonnie agreed.
After hanging up the phone, Bonnie felt dizzy and disoriented. She couldn't even focus on seeing Yanis properly.
Yanis watched as Bonnie hung up the phone and asked, "What's going on?"
Bonnie grabbed Yanis' hand tightly but couldn't find any suitable words to say. She was struggling with how to express herself.
Yanis frowned slightly when he saw that she was holding back. "You're going over to Haider's place?"
Bonnie nodded; she felt an overwhelming sense of unease that seemed like it was expanding inside of her until it became unbearable pain for a moment. "Yanis, can you take me there?"
Without hesitation, Yanis agreed: "Go change your clothes first; I'll bring the car around."
Because of roadwork outside their building today, which made parking difficult, Yanis had parked her car at a nearby restaurant lot instead.
It took some time before Bonnie finally responded with an affirmative sound as if she were walking dead down stairs towards her. Yanis worried she might fall, so she followed behind closely. After watching her go upstairs, Yanis then turned towards Linda who was busy working nearby: "Linda, keep an eye out for Bonnie while I go get my car."
Linda looked confused. "What's wrong with our boss?"
"Nothing," Yanis said curtly."Just keep an eye out when she comes downstairs later."
Linda nodded obediently: "Okay."
Then Yannis left quickly and went next door where she had parked her car. Bonnie hurriedly changed into new clothes before coming back down stairs again. She almost missed one step while descending, but luckily, Linda and Stanley were standing close by, and they managed to catch her just in time.
