Chapter 715: The Intention Behind the Appearance
Yanis didn't refuse, "Is it a female friend?"
Ahmed nodded, "It's been a while since we've seen each other, so there should be some formalities."
Yanis smiled, "No problem. Let's put our things in the car first and then go over. I know there's a jewelry store up ahead with reasonable prices and good stuff." Ahmed carried the bags on Yanis' left side and helped her navigate through the crowd. "It doesn't matter; anything will do."
"Do you have any price requirements?" Yanis asked as they walked.
Ahmed shook his head, "I want to buy something nice because good gifts show sincerity."
Listening to Ahmed speak, Yanis softly said: "Actually, when giving gifts it's the thought that counts more than the price."
Ahmed nodded in agreement,"I think so too. Thank you for your help later."
"No problem; it's just something I can do easily."
They put their purchases into the car before heading to buy jewelry.
However when Yanis took Ahmed to where she wanted to go, the shop was temporarily closed due to an upgrade.
"It seems like they're upgrading their store; let's try another one," Yanis said quietly after looking at the blocked storefront before turning towards Ahmed.
"Then let's go to that one ahead instead," Ahmed replied "I feel bad for making you run around with me all morning."
"It doesn't matter; I don't have anything else planned today anyway. If there was something urgent though, I might not be able come help you out again."
"That would be quite unfortunate," Ahmed said as he reached out his hand and helped block a small child who suddenly ran past them from hitting Yanis."Take care," he added.
"Thank you."
The shop they entered this time was clearly more upscale than where Yanis had originally intended on taking him earlier.
"Have you decided what you want yet? A bracelet or necklace?"Yanis believed these were really only two options available for men buying gifts for female friends because rings represented too many meanings which could lead to awkward situations if given improperly.
While browsing at one of counters, Ahmed asked: "What do think about this ring?"
Yanisscooted forward slightly upon hearing him speak,"Are you confessing your love or planning on proposing?"
Both laughed when Ahmad replied:"Neither actually. I just saw it, and thought it looked very eye-catching and nice."
The salesperson standing behind the counter spoke up at just the right moment, "This ring isn't meant for engagements or weddings. It's perfect for everyday wear and it's been selling really well. We've already sold several today."
Glancing at Yanis' face, the saleswoman continued in a hushed tone, "Sir, if you like it, you can let your... your..."
"My junior," interrupted Ahmed.
The saleswoman smiled knowingly at this title and continued speaking, "If you like it sir, you can let your junior try it on to see how it looks."
Ahmed turned to Yanis and asked him directly, "Yanis, can you put it on so I can see how it looks?"
Yanis hesitated before agreeing with a simple "okay."
"Could you please take it out for me? We'll try them on and see how they look," said Ahmed.
"Sure thing," replied the saleswoman as she took out the ring from behind the counter and handed it over to Ahmed.
Ahmed then passed the ring onto Yanis saying simply: "Try this on."
Without thinking too much about what he was doing, Yanis slipped the ring onto his left-hand finger.
After taking a closer look at his hand with its new accessory in place, Ahmed commented: "It looks pretty good."
The salesperson chimed in again: "This young lady has beautiful hands. The ring makes her fingers appear even longer than they are - truly stunning."
Looking back towards Yanis once more, Ahmed asked him directly: "What do you think?"
Straightening his hand out slightly, Yanis replied: "It's not bad actually. But surely there are different sizes available?"
"Indeed there are," confirmed the salesperson. "However we do offer custom sizing as well - as long as your fingers aren't too thin or too thick that is."
As he gazed down upon her hand once more, Ahmed picked up his phone and casually recorded a short video of her wearing their new purchase. Afterwards he pocketed his phone without another word before turning back towards her: "Let's wrap this up then."
"Is that all we're getting?" questioned Yanis curiously.
"I believe that what catches our eye first is usually best," replied Ahmad confidently while looking directly into her eyes.
"The gentleman has quite an eye indeed! And don't forget about our special promotions going on today!" added in Saleslady enthusiastically.
Since Ahmad had already made up his mind by now however, Yanishad nothing else to say but handed over theringsaying "Sir, you may pay here please."
Nodding towards him, Ahmad instructed:"Wait here for me, Yanish."
Just when Yannis was about to say something else, hissmartphone insidehis bag suddenly rang aloud...
Yanis glanced at the caller ID before turning to Ahmed. "Ahmed, I need to take this call. I'll wait for you outside."
"Sure thing, I'll be right there," Ahmed replied.
Yanis nodded and walked towards the door with her phone in hand.
As soon as Yanis left, Ahmed turned to the salesperson and said, "Can you help me exchange this ring for a necklace? My girlfriend mentioned she wanted one."
The salesperson nodded. "Of course. Are you sure you don't want this ring though? It looked beautiful on your girlfriend... or was it your student?"
Ahmed smiled lightly at the salesperson's mistake. "No thanks, just the necklace for now. We can get matching rings later."
"Alright then, let me show you some options," the salesperson said as she led Ahmed to another display.
After picking out a simple necklace from a nearby counter and paying for it, Ahmed made his way outside where Yanis was waiting.
"Did everything go well?" Yanis asked him.
"Yes, thank you so much for your help today," Ahmed replied gratefully.
Yanis smiled back at him. "No problem at all! If there's nothing else we need to do here today then I'm going to head back now."
"That's fine with me too," Ahmed agreed before adding: "We should catch up again soon though!"
"Yeah definitely!" Yanis waved goodbye before walking towards her car parked nearby while Ahmad watched her leave with a slight frown on his face...
When they first met years ago he had been immediately smitten by her beauty but never found an opportunity to pursue anything further due various reasons that kept getting in their way - despite having regular interactions since then without any real chance of taking things further either...
Afterwards, due to academic reasons, Ahmed applied to study abroad. He never expected to meet Yanis again right after returning home.
That night, when Yanis was sitting alone in a chair, Ahmed couldn't help but think back to the first time he saw Yanis. It was just like that night - Yanis was sitting alone in a multi-functional classroom.
