I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 22
Dominic closed the door to the room, breathing heavily and leaning against the door. The images he perceived had become enveloped in a reddish haze that would soon make him lose control. She couldn’t believe her rutting had come early. He had prepared conditions to keep Aidan apart from him for the duration of the day, but apparently having him around had been his knife to the throat. He went over to his suitcase and searched for his inhibitor to no avail.
He rummaged through the clothes, the pockets and nothing. The little pouch where he always kept them was not there. He didn’t remember taking them out. He could only think that they had been left somewhere in the house. He turned to see if he could go downstairs to buy some, but it was too late. Everything around him turned red and his reasoning flew away leaving the wilder part of him yearning to devour his partner.
Aidan looked Michel Norman up and down with a look that would scare any man away. But not this alpha who was used to getting everything he wanted. Cautiously he took a step back, putting distance between them, the pheromones he was beginning to exude and that he could faintly perceive were marking a territory around his person and that made him uncomfortable. It had taken him long enough to get used to Dominic’s pheromones. This alpha’s made him feel queasy.
-Come on, at least have a drink with me,” he insisted, “Aidan,” he stressed his name in a mellifluous way, sure he had it engraved in his head from when they were setting out their project.
He shook his head.
-I’m sorry, but my alpha is waiting for me,” he didn’t want to exchange so many words, something told him to run away from there.
-Don’t be like that. Come with me.
The omega’s eyes widened in two. He had used the Voice of alpha. He knew the effects, only when Dominic had used it on him, and he hated the havoc it wreaked on his body. All his senses became submissive to this alpha and he could not refuse to do his bidding.
Trembling slightly and unable to refuse she reached out her hand towards his when it was taken by the wrist.
-Mr. Michel, I think you should behave,” a male voice sounded from beside him and Aidan was relieved.
The alpha frowned as another alpha thwarted his plans.
-You shouldn’t interfere in other people’s business, Mister Louis, I was exchanging words with…
-Businessman Dominic’s mate, don’t you think it’s impolite to use your voice when he’s alone?
The alpha seemed rude with his words and didn’t let Michel answer him, taking the young man with him, passing him by. Aidan simply let himself go. The newcomer was one of the alphas he had closed a contract with minutes later. He was grateful that he had helped him.
-Thank you,” he exclaimed with a sigh as they pulled into the car park.
-Next time he gets in your way, no matter what alpha is around, ask him for help,” Louis flashed a warm smile, “Do you want a ride?
Aidan returned to his cautious distance.
-I thank you again, but I will return by my own means. I don’t think Dominic would be comfortable if he smelled the pheromones of any other alpha near me, I already have to explain those of the last one.
The alpha looked at him carefully.
-I don’t think it’s a good idea for him to go alone anyway. Besides, Dominic hasn’t marked him, so even if he’s around, he’s still a bachelor.
Aidan smelled the innuendo in her words and stepped back again.
-I appreciate your concern but whether he’s marked me or not is between us. I’ll leave now if you don’t mind,” and resumed his pace towards the entrance where he asked one of the staff for a taxi.
Inside the vehicle he took three breaths before he felt more stable and brushed back some of the hair that had fallen over his face. She grabbed her mobile phone and rang Dominic. When he had left he hadn’t looked well and that had worried him, but no matter how much he rang the bell he didn’t get an answer. He insisted again and frowned. Unless he had passed out or was sleeping Dominic wasn’t the type to not answer his mobile phone, he even took it with him to the bathroom in case he called it. The concern grew.
She paid for the taxi and ran to the elevator praying her suspicions weren’t true. She should have gone with him when he asked her to. She cursed herself for her fanaticism about the job. He reached the door of the suite they shared and before he touched the handle Dominic’s scent hit him so hard that his senses scattered a little.
Discovering that he was a recent omega, he still didn’t have enough knowledge to know what was causing it, so without precaution he opened the door and closed it behind him. To his surprise there was no one in the room but that didn’t mean it was empty. The alpha pheromones seemed like a mist that surrounded him completely stimulating his body and it didn’t take long for his body to react by heating up.
Aidan pursed his lips not understanding what was happening and called out to the alpha still concerned ignoring the condition of his body. He moved forward and near the bed there was nothing. He was going to look in the bathroom but his body froze as he felt someone behind him. Precisely from where the pheromones were becoming more intense.
He tensed completely and slowly turned his head looking over his shoulder and couldn’t deny that he was startled. Dominic was standing behind him but he looked even bigger, wilder. His eyes were so green they looked unreal, his lips glossy, his hair tousled and light sweat ran down his bare torso.
Aidan gulped. Everything inside him began to throb and something inside him stirred, crying out for that alpha, a trickle of liquid ran down his inner thigh and he didn’t want to think where it came from, but his conscience told him to run. And so she did. He turned towards the door, but before he could open it, a hand slammed against the wood, cracking it and preventing him from leaving.
The alpha’s lips ended at her neck as her warm body pressed against him.
-Dominic,” he called out but received no response, his senses beginning to blur at the heat that was also located in his belly which beyond being painful as it usually was in response, was strange.
Her hand was grabbed and pulled towards the middle of the room. Dominic turned towards him interposing his body in front of the door and advancing slowly like a predator looking for its prey. Aidan just backed away, not knowing what to do, one step, two, three until his knees hit the edge of the bed and he fell into a sitting position still not taking his eyes off Dominic’s face.
The alpha stopped in front of him and licking his lips, grabbed the front of his clothes and in one sharp movement tore them off. Aidan called out to him but Dominic still didn’t answer.
It was then that his mind connected the dots and he remembered some of what he had read recently. And she could only come to one simple conclusion. Dominic was in his rut, in his heat and he was trapped helplessly beside him.
Would he survive? He didn’t know. But that he would be marked, he had no doubt.
