I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 76

Ever since the news of Julian’s supposed death, Madox had felt that his life was meaningless. That was when he realized that the women around him were doing it as much for his money as for a fiery night. He didn’t mind for a long time, he thought his alpha status allowed him to do whatever he pleased.

But unlike all of them, Julian never asked anything of her, never demanded anything of her, he was simply there for her whenever he wanted.

Now she didn’t know how he would react, or him. She trembled, yes she trembled a lot. Three months of thinking he was dead and then having him in front of him as if it had all been just a dream.

He could feel indignant at the lie, upset at suffering in vain. Before it would be like that, but not now. There was a strange, blossoming emotion inside his chest. He took a step forward, he wanted to touch him, hug him, k**s him and then he would ask the thousands of doubts in his head, first he needed to make sure that he was really in front of him.

But to her surprise Julian stepped back and raised a hand. The smile that was on his face faded leaving his face calm. This time it was not like before, Julian used to lower his gaze many times but, now their gazes met. There was no hesitation in him.

-Julian I…

-I want to thank you- he began to speak. It had been a mere three months, but he seemed more mature.

-That bastard- Madox couldn’t help but growl and pull out his fangs- He deserves much more than years in jail, at least where he’s going I’m sure he’ll be well taken care of- his eyes glittered dangerously- If I had known he had done all that to you before I…-I would…-You wouldn’t have done anything, Madox.

-You wouldn’t have done anything Madox- the edges of Julian’s lips lifted.

Madox stood still. There was something strange about Julian. She wasn’t the same, it was as if he was someone different.

-What happened to you? Why did all this happen? Were you here all this time? Why didn’t you tell me he was alive? Do you have any idea what we went through when we didn’t hear from you?

The omega’s face darkened.

-I knew it wouldn’t be good news, but I had many reasons not to come back. Even now I’m wondering why I called you- he bowed his head- I had intended to stay here quietly. As if I never existed in this life but I don’t think it’s fair to them- he ran his hand over his belly.

Madox analyzed all his words and he could swear they were like punches straight to his face but what struck him the most was Julian’s last word.

-They?” she almost gasped.

Julian nodded.

-I’m aware that you must know that what’s in my belly is yours, you were the last person I had s*x with,” he looked down, his hands framing the small belly, but too big to hold a single child, “The doctor said it was too early but he had a feeling it would be girls. Two girls, twins.

-Twins,” said Madox, staggering in disbelief. He knew he was going to be a father, but of two. That was…unbelievable.

This time he wanted to run and hug him, but Julian pulled back again. That made the alpha frown.

-Why are you avoiding me? Why won’t you let me touch you?

Julian shook his head.

-It’s been three months Madox. Three months in which I realized how much I’ve been suffering for a dream that would never be mine- he ran his hand over the back of his neck, completely clean- I don’t intend to be one more in your long list of adventures. I already was for a while, no, I wasn’t, rather, I don’t even know if I really meant anything to you besides your patient. I thank you so much for everything you did for me, how you took care of me. I seriously have no way to thank you, but in the end I made the decision that I must move on. My experience with the alphas has not exactly been the best but now I have something to focus on. I have two lives that will depend on me.

Madox felt like he couldn’t breathe. Julian, his Julian was rejecting him in the worst way. He never hated himself more in life. If only he’d taken a little more notice of his surroundings and stopped so many of the women he hung out with. He was a piece of shit. And now that he wanted to settle down with the guy who was really important to him, he was telling himself that he wanted to turn over a new leaf and start over.

-Madox, I’m aware that you have a right to know that you’re going to be a father but I’m not saying it with the intention that you have to take responsibility. I know how you are, I don’t want to tie you down. I don’t want you to feel responsible for them, but at least if my daughters ask me one day about their father and would like to see him I don’t want to find myself in the position of lying to them and saying they don’t have one.

The alpha squared his shoulders and ran his hand over his head.

-Julian, I think you’ve said enough,” that made the omega blink quizzically, “Are you going to let me do the talking? I have a lot to say in this matter, starting with…” -Wait, Aunt No, wait.

-WAIT, AUNT NO –

Madox only had time to hear Julian scream to receive a strong blow in the head and then everything went black.

His head hurt and a lot. Especially the back of it, it was as if he had been hit with a hammer, a shovel would it be broken? He hoped he wouldn’t have to shave his head because of a scar. He liked his blond hair and it was part of his image.

-Again, Julian,” there were voices in the background, not too far away, “That’s why things happen to you,” she said.

-Aunt, please, he’s that person, I couldn’t just…

-That a*****e is the father of your daughters? Didn’t you learn from what happened to you with your destined partner? Your parents would be turning over in their graves if they were alive.

-Aunt,” Julian’s voice sounded anguished, “I owe him a lot.

-Same again. You’re too good, but don’t come running back to me again if you screw up. I’m too old for this.

After that there was a loud bang of a door closing, which made Madox startle and the fog in her mind dissipate. But he did not open his eyes. Minutes later the couch beside him descended with a pleasant weight and a damp cloth wiped his temple. She opened her eyes.

-Don’t move too much,” Julian told him serenely, “You have a little b***d but it was just a scratch, does it hurt much?

The alpha didn’t answer him. She grabbed his wrist making him let go of the cloth and brought her hand between his lips. Ah, she was touching him, it was warm, it was real.

-You’re alive- she let out with relief and kissed the back of the omega’s hand to feel a tug on it, but she didn’t let go. Madox’s eyes opened again and focused on him- Do you hate me so much…little bird?

He could see the mask Julian was holding wobble a little and tremble. Madox didn’t hold back. With a quick movement and pulling the omega, he turned and passed it over him being careful to brace the small body so that the impact against the couch would be as gentle as possible. His hands ended up on either side of Julian’s face trapping him under his body.

There were at least 5 minutes when they both didn’t speak. They just looked at each other and the tension between them grew. The memories they experienced during their time together crossed both of their minds, but neither knew how to break the ice.

-Madox- Julian started to speak when a tear fell down his cheek. He was startled and blinked several times to realize it was the same hard alpha he knew who was crying.

-Why did you leave me?” the alpha pursed his lips -You have any idea how shitty my life was when they told me you were dead. I never believed it. I kept looking for you even though everyone told me it was useless.

Julian swallowed, not knowing what to do. He then noticed how tired Madox looked, the dark circles under his eyes, how worn his always radiant face was. She could tell he hadn’t taken proper care of himself for some time. You could even tell he had lost weight.

-I’ve changed Julian. I swear I have changed. After you left I realized everything. I’m stupid, I know. I deserve to be beaten by you if you want, but at least let me stay by your side.

Julian didn’t know if the tear that spilled from his tear was the alpha’s or his. He clenched his fists burying his nails in the couch. He was tempted to give in. He would gladly do it even though he had been telling himself for months not to look back and forget everything. how was it possible that this man could make him turn the world upside down and make him waver?

-How long?” he asked her.

He narrowed his eyes.

-How long what?

-How long will it take for you to change me for someone else or cheat on me? You’re a free soul Madox. I’m sorry but I don’t think I can bear to go on loving you in silence and watch you go off with another woman, like you did before. I’m sorry but… I’ve suffered too much already.

It was then that the alpha realized how much she hurt Julian every time he decided to go off and have fun on his own. How much he had ignored his feelings.

-And if I tell you that I won’t trade you for anyone. That I want you to spend the rest of my days with you-

Julian opened his mouth but no words came out.
