Immortal Desire
Chapter 27

“Why isn’t she waking up?” Latina heard the alpha’s voice but kept her eyes shut. She doesn’t want to see the guy.

“Sire, she’s exhausted. She was chained and was forced to watch something she must have not seen before,” a girl replied. It was Azrene’s voice. “I suggest you stay away from her in the meantime. If you continue being aggressive, your future relationship will end up messy.”

Latina tried not to flinch when someone held her hand. It was a thick, calloused hands. “She will be mine,” the alpha said and kissed the back of her palm. “Monitor her. I must go to the empire. And don’t forget to inform her about the wedding ceremony. We must do it sooner than scheduled.”

“As you wish, Sire. Have a safe trip,” Azrene bid her goodbye. The sound of the shutting door made Latina exhale. She opened her eyes and found the girl looking problematic.

“You’re awake,” Azrene muttered while closing the windows. “You should have heard our conversation. He plans to get done with the ceremony,” she looked at her. “We need to get out of here before that.”

Latina nodded her head in agreement. “Why don’t we do it tonight? The alpha is going to the empire, we can sneak out while he’s away,” she suggested.

“Easier said than achieved. Did you forget? You were asleep for the whole three days. You at least need to recover your strength,” Azrene sat on the bed. “You need to be honest with me. How are you related to vampires?” She asked her.

The older one shook her head. “I don’t have any idea.”

“Impossible,” the younger one exclaimed. “When you were unconscious, I heard that you were the vampire lord’s woman. How come you don’t have any clue?”

‘Vampire lord? Is Sebastian a Vampire lord?’ Latina asked herself. Her subconscious popped and raised a brow before giving her an answer. ‘I rather believe he’s a demon than just a vampire lord. He didn’t even bother to look for you,’ Latina’s subconscious said before disappearing again.

“TSK. It doesn’t matter,” Azrene murmured when Latina didn’t provide any explanation. “Being an ordinary human and having an enchanting face that would catch both the vampire lord and the werewolf alpha’s attention, I’d be surprised if the vampire lord did nothing to have you stayed by his side. Looking at how patient the alpha has become after meeting you just to earn your trust, he was quite disciplined. Any other men would totally go crazy and would have had you already.”

Latina bit her lips until it bled. “Maybe you’re right. Tell me, do I look like just an ordinary human to you?” she asked. Her question alarmed the girl, so she forced a laugh. “I mean, don’t you think I’m weird? I remember a little about myself. I ran away from that man hoping to find answers but I ended up under the alpha’s paws,” she stared at the girl’s face. The pain was visible in her eyes.

“You’re right. You’re indeed strange, surviving from the grasp of the vampire lord and now, you’re about to test your courage to free yourself from the alpha. You aren’t ordinary. I think you’re cool.”

Warmth. Latina felt a tender sensation touching her heart. It may not be as pleasant as Sebastian’s embrace, but it was enough to melt a part of her frozen soul. Azrene’s words gave her strength. She was different from a lover, thus she was her friend. The older woman threw herself on the girl, wrapping her small frame with her arms.

“All right,” Latina started. “Since you think I’m cool, then trust me. Let’s get out of here tonight,” she continued.

Azrene broke free from the hug and looked at her in the eyes. They painted determination on both of their faces. “I don’t think the hug was necessary,” she responded shyly. Latina just shrugged and smiled.

“I’ll come to you tonight, wait for me no matter what. Prepare yourself, this is our only chance now that the white alpha’s away,” Azrene said. “I must ensure our exit, stay here, and pretend to be asleep until I come back. I brought your meal for today,” she turned her gaze to the table inside the room. There’s a bowl of gruel and a glass of fruit juice. “You should eat them to replenish your strength.”

‘Err, that’s where they formed their pyramid,’ Latina thought, looking at the same table where Mathew and his women used when playing in and out.

“What’s wrong?” Azrene asked.

“N-nothing. I think it’s better not to eat. You can bring the food back when you leave,” Latina responded.

“I’m telling you to take a bite,” the girl insisted and picked up the bowl. “I’ll feed you if you refuse to do it yourself,” she added.

“Well, do you have anything else? Like fruits or something…”

“Here,” Latina’s eyes glowed when Azrene handed her an apple. “I only have that one inside my pocket. It’s for my dinner, but you can have that.”

“Thank you,” Latina grabbed the apple and munched on it. She smiled at the girl who just shook her head and left the room with the food she brought for her. She finished the fruit and walked to the window and opened it halfway. Lifting the thick curtains, Latina rested her cheek on the window frame.

“How beautiful,” she murmured while looking at the setting sun. “But it feels sad,” she added, pressing her hand to her chest. After heaving a sigh, she closed the window again and slumped herself on the bed.

“Sebastian… What are you hiding from me?” she whispered before closing her eyes.

She wrapped herself with the thick blanket and drifted to sleep. Little did she know, the person she longed to see was there, watching her secretly.

Latina’s lips curled up when she landed on another world. It was her favorite place, her dreamland. It clouded her mind with joy as she got herself immersed in her dream.

“I missed you. Sebastian,” she murmured, hugging a pillow closer to her. She always misses him, but she couldn’t go to him yet, not until she finds out the truth about her existence.
