It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 132
At the Evans Group, with the latest plan on mining in South Africa in hand, Bob knocked on the door of the CEO’s office and pushed it open. Then he came in and put the plan on Malcolm’s desk. After glancing at Bob indifferently, Malcolm took the map and flipped through it. After seeing the last page, he signed his name at the bottom of the document and returned it to Bob. Bob picked up the plan and left the office. Neither of them said a word the entire time.
Bob was about to call the assessment team to get the document when he saw that Enoch was outside the office. Ever since Malcolm’s depression began to envelop the entire group, Enoch had never entered the CEO’s office without knocking on the door. Instead, every time he passed by the assistants’ area, he asked about the situation inside the office.
“Assistant general manager, the CEO looked normal,” Bob reported before Enoch asked.
Enoch gave Bob a thumbs up and wondered where to find such a caring assistant. If he could also have such a caring assistant, he would prefer it to be a man rather than a woman. An assistant like Bob was safe, reliable and, above all, super efficient.
Enoch knocked on the door and opened it.
“What’s new?” Malcolm looked up at Enoch and asked casually.
“Grandma is not in good condition. She fell into a coma again this afternoon,” Enoch said quickly.
Due to the depressing atmosphere around Malcolm, everyone wanted to avoid reporting directly to him if possible. Therefore, a lot of information had to be conveyed by Enoch. How hard his life was! He was almost a spokesperson. Thinking of Wilma’s condition, Enoch fell silent.
“I’m going to stay at the mansion overnight recently,” Malcolm said lightly. “By the way, do you have anything to do in the afternoon?” he asked casually.
“No problem. I have several meetings to attend. But all of them can be manipulated by others. What’s up?” Enoch asked, raising his eyebrows in confusion.
For a long time, Malcolm led a simple life. He was either at the company or at the villa. He would never appear in third place. And he had even spent many nights in the suite in company. Her sudden question made Enoch curious.
“I’ll tell Bob to forward all urgent documents in the afternoon to your office. I won’t be there,” Malcolm said indifferently.
“Got it.” Instead of asking why Malcolm would be absent,
Then Enoch left the office. After leaving the office, he relayed Malcolm’s order directly to Bob, then took the elevator back to his office. Malcolm turned his attention to the documents on the desk. He quickly reviewed them and signed them.
Unconsciously, he clicked the mouse and flipped the computer screen. The familiar red dot reappeared in his view. Lucia had returned to S City. Of course, he also knew that Lucia and Lowell remained in Italy for several more days. Jealousy spread throughout his body when Lucia didn’t return.
When Lucia’s red dot reappeared in S City, she began to live an indoor life again. She continued to move to a fixed location. It had become a habit for Malcolm to change screens unconsciously. Even a simple indifferent look could calm the trace of madness and anxiety in his heart. It seemed that as long as Lucia was in S City, it wouldn’t make him feel so inaccessible.
After looking at the red dot for a long time, he turned off the computer. He stood up indifferently, grabbed the car key from the desk and left the office. Bob, who had known the news in advance, was still calmly handling the unfinished work at his post.
Driving the car, Malcolm wandered aimlessly around S City. Unconsciously, he went to the apartment that Lucia had rented before. He parked the car on the side of the road, opened the window, looked at the ancient community for a long time, and then slowly raised the window. The subconscious reaction forced him to admit that he was still, intentionally or unintentionally, searching for every trace of Lucia once appearing in S City.
He restarted the engine and got back on the road. When he stopped the car again, he found that he had already arrived in front of Kenneth’s café. Due to the subconscious action, there was a rare trace of regret on Malcolm’s face. When he was about to leave, a familiar figure appeared in his eyes.
Lucie…
As if possessed, Malcolm gave up on leaving and silently watched the figure enter the café. Lucia’s smile was not as bright as when they first met, but also not as cold and numb as when they separated. The slight smile made him understand that she was gradually recovering.
Lucia was like a strong female soldier. If she fell, she would do her best to get back up, even if she was bleeding. Suddenly a smile appeared on Malcolm’s face. He remembered what Lucia had often said before. Children who grew up in adversity always had strong spirits.
Inadvertently, over time, his little wild cat was much stronger than he had imagined. What had changed her? Malcolm saw Lucia again sitting at the familiar table by the window. There was a hint of attachment in his eyes. He had asked himself a question several times and had also avoided answering the same question from Enoch several times.
Did he love Lucie?
Yes. Only now that Lucia was out of his sight did he dare to face his true feelings. In the space where Lucia was, he was still escaping unconsciously. When she really left, his heart was filled with disappointment and jealousy.
When Lucia was in the arms of another man, only he knew that a feeling that came from his bones filled his entire body. It was jealousy. Even though he didn’t love Lucia, he still wanted to keep her by his side.
On the other side of the glass, Lucia kept her original posture. She lazily curled up in the corner of the sofa and read a novel downloaded on her mobile phone. For the first time in this period, Malcolm smiled sincerely. It was a kind of helplessness and nostalgia for Lucia. Enduring the urge to get out of the car and go see Lucia, he looked at her for the last time and imprinted it in his mind. It seemed that such an imprint was enough for him to remember her for the rest of his life.
As Lucia pushed open the cafe door, Kenneth noticed her. Then he screamed and ran towards her. Without saying anything, he gave Lucia a big hug. His exaggerated gesture made the guests present look at the two of them kissing at the door.
As if realizing he had gone too far, Kenneth scratched his head in embarrassment. Lucia smiled slightly and returned to the familiar table with him. She vaguely felt that someone was watching her behind her. But when she wanted to turn around and take a look, she found nothing unusual.
“Oh my God…Miss Lucia, you are finally here. So much has happened, but I didn’t dare to call you to ask…” Kenneth said excitedly before Lucia ‘sit down.
“I’m fine,” Lucia replied indifferently.
“No… You don’t look good at all. Your smile is so fake, not as cruel as before. Your attitude is indifferent, but you feel like you want to keep a big distance from everyone world. If I didn’t know you, I would have been scared of you. By the way, are you with Lowell now?”
Sometimes Kenneth was very sensitive, but sometimes he seemed so stupid that he spoke without thinking. Realizing he had asked the wrong question, he looked awkwardly at Lucia and smiled apologetically.
“It’s okay. I’m staying at his place now.” Lucia smiled indifferently and roughly told Kenneth what happened after leaving the cafe.
Kenneth listened calmly and did not interrupt Lucia’s statement. He didn’t speak until Lucia finished speaking. But before he could ask a few questions, he was called aside by the guests. Lucia smiled and gestured for him to mind his own business. Kenneth smiled apologetically and left first.
After a while, Jon brought her Lucia’s favorite caramel macchiato and matcha mousse in person. Lucia smiles gratefully. Shrugging, Jon nodded and walked back into the kitchen.
Lucia took a sip of coffee and gently put it down. Was there something wrong with her taste buds because she hadn’t had coffee in a long time? She couldn’t help but frown as the bitterness crept into her taste buds. She was sure the coffee here hadn’t changed, but the taste had. When she took a bite of the cake, she was satisfied with the soft and creamy taste.
In fact, Lucia didn’t want to come here at first. But somehow, as she walked down the street, she got used to walking along the road full of phoenix trees. When she saw Kenneth’s cafe, she shook her head helplessly and pushed the door. Now Lucia was really afraid of the worried looks from her friends. In their eyes, everyone felt sorry for her.
Was she really that fragile recently?
When she woke up in the morning and came out of the room, she saw Lowell looking at her worriedly. He didn’t look relaxed until she smiled. Looking at Lowell, Lucia felt helpless. After eating breakfast in silence, Lucia said she wanted to go out for a walk. There was joy in Lowell’s eyes.
He considerately drove Lucia to a place with convenient transportation in the city center and let Lucia get out of the car. He knew that Lucia didn’t like being taken care of by others. Before getting out of the car, Lucia looked at Lowell quietly for a long time. When Lowell was also looking at her, she put her palm to her lips and printed a k**s, then put her palm to Lowell’s lips. Then she turned around and got out of the car.
Seeing Lucia’s action, Lowell was stunned for a long time. When the horns behind his car sounded, Lowell smiled happily. Lucia, emerging from adversity, seemed to come back to life little by little. Maybe she had been depressed or indifferent, but at least she was willing to take the initiative to come out of her own shell. It was a good start.
The winter wind was no longer cold, but warm from the warmth of people’s hearts.
