It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 138
Lucia couldn’t say that Lowell’s story had had no impact on her. At least Lucia never thought she would have an interaction with a man like Malcolm before. And she never thought that Lowell’s background would also be so complicated. Lucia had a vague feeling of unease, but she couldn’t find the source. She just let the feeling spread throughout her body.
Early in the morning, Lucia went straight out. Lowell didn’t follow her. He knew Lucia needed time to calm down. He only organized a car to send Lucia downtown.
“Don’t arrange anyone to follow you,” Lucia suddenly turned around and said to Lowell before leaving.
“All right.” After a long silence, Lowell finally agreed to Lucia’s request.
Lucia left the house and got into the car. Lowell was a man of his word. As long as he promised it, he would never go back on it. So Lucia didn’t have to worry that Lowell would always send people to follow her.
When the driver drove the car into downtown S City, Lucia signaled the driver to stop at any place. After getting out of the car, Lucia thanked the driver and closed the door. Then she unconsciously headed towards Kenneth’s cafe. But before arriving at the café, Lucia had the vague feeling that she was being hunted. As soon as she turned her head, she saw many reporters rushing towards her. She was stunned for a moment. In such a short time, journalists had surrounded her.
The journalists rushed. They really didn’t expect to be so lucky. Based on their previous experience, they had chosen to wait near the cafe. Unexpectedly, they really met Lucia here.
“Mrs. Evans, I heard that Mrs. Wilma Evans is seriously ill. Why didn’t you report to the hospital but here?”
“Ms. Evans, have you separated from Mr. Evans? Can you tell us who the man with you is?”
Other questions concerned Lucia and Malcolm’s relationship and her affair. Lucia didn’t care what the reporters asked her, but she was really shocked when she heard the news that Wilma was seriously ill. How could the energetic old woman in his memory become seriously ill in such a short time?
Lucia doubted the news for a moment, but she quickly denied her ridiculous idea. Since the journalists knew the news, it was unlikely to be false. Besides, if it was false,
“Ms. Evans, does your silence mean that you have acknowledged the outside world’s speculation?” one reporter didn’t want to give up and asked more aggressively.
While everyone was questioning him, a black car stopped next to them. The sharp-eyed journalists quickly recognized that it was a car from the Evans Group. As everyone was about to walk towards the car, they suddenly stopped, as the door had been opened and to everyone’s surprise, it was not Malcolm, but Enoch who got out of the car. The journalists looked at each other in surprise. Behind Enoch was Bob, Malcolm’s chief assistant and spokesperson for the Evans Group.
” Sorry madam. Evans will not accept any interviews.” Bob stopped the reporters in time.
On the other hand, Enoch walked directly towards Lucia. Lucia looked at him in confusion. Why did they know she was here?
“Lucia, get on “First in the car,” Enoch said lightly, ignoring Lucia’s confusion.
Lucia neither refused nor accepted. Seeing that the perfect opportunity was about to slip away again, the reporter hurried to catch up with them. But before they could say anything, they were frightened by Enoch’s cold eyes and stopped in their tracks. However, there were still some reporters who were not afraid of death who asked.
“Sir. Enoch Evans, why did Mr. Malcolm Evans come to pick up his wife in person, but you?”
Enoch looked at the intrepid reporter in front of him with his cold eyes. Lucia wanted to explain the current situation, but was stopped by what Enoch was going to say.
“What do you mean? If a husband didn’t come to pick up his wife, he must have separated from his wife? Since everyone knows that our grandmother is seriously ill, as the eldest grandson, doesn’t my elder brother need to be at his service at all times? My sister-in-law just returned from abroad. We just got the news. You journalists acted even earlier than us. What’s going on? Have you forgotten the warning from the Evans group?”
Enoch was never a nice man. He spoke rudely and spicy to the reporters in front of him. The surrounding reporters were speechless. As one of the few easy-going senior executives in the Evans Group, Enoch had said so, which meant there was really no room for investigation.
Lucia followed Enoch into the car as he insisted. Bob, who was left behind, officially took care of the current problem. After a while, all the reporters dissipated and the siege temporarily ended.
“Just let me get off the car in the front,” Lucia said indifferently as soon as she got in the car.
Without saying anything, Enoch just gestured to the driver to let Lucia get out of the car when he was sure that the journalists would not return. After Lucia got out of the car, Enoch thoughtfully watched her retreating figure. Yesterday, after reporters announced that their grandmother was seriously ill, Malcolm paid more attention to Lucia’s whereabouts. He knew that she would definitely get into trouble, so he had already arranged people to save Lucia easily.
“I wonder what choice you will make when our family’s interests really come into conflict with Lucia one day,” Enoch thought.
Lucia got out of the car and felt a little confused. Watching the car drive away, Lucia wondered what Malcolm was thinking. That day he had asked her to leave his world so cruelly. Why did he ask Enoch to appear today to help him? Was it for the interests of the Evans family or…
Lucia soon laughed to herself. She didn’t think such a cold man would do this for her. Soon, Lucia fell into a painful personal struggle. Every time she thought she was going to forget Malcolm, he invaded her life again in his own way and occupied her mind again little by little.
She randomly found a beer garden and usually ordered the same food. Perhaps it was because of the agitation that was tiring her just now, or perhaps it was because of the sun and the dessert in front of her which cleared her mind, only a slight feeling of sleepiness overwhelmed her again. Lucia couldn’t help but yawn. She quickly took a sip of coffee, trying to calm herself down.
The phone rang. Lucia’s heart was beating faster and faster. When she looked at the caller ID, she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. It wasn’t Malcolm, it was Lowell.
“Lucia, how about we have lunch together?” Lowell asked Lucia in a soft voice.
“Okay,” Lucia replied simply.
At this moment, Lowell was more like a piece of wood floating in the sea. If she caught it, she would not fall into the deep sea.
“Where are you? I’ll get you back.” Luo asked for Lucia’s precise location.
Lucia looked around and quickly told Lowell her precise location. Then she hung up the phone and continued to eat the food in front of her. Half an hour later, Lowell appeared before her. Lucia had just finished her last sip of coffee. She stood up and smiled at Lowell. Lowell naturally hugged Lucia, but was pushed away by her unconsciously. Lowell did not insist. He turned and walked ahead, while Lucia followed indifferently.
After getting in the car, Lucia looked out the window numbly. Lowell drove her to the restaurant for lunch. Looking at Lucia, who was becoming more and more silent, Lowell frowned and wondered if something had happened during this time? The feeling of uneasiness in his heart grew heavier and heavier.
“Mrs. Wilma Evans is seriously ill,” Lucia said suddenly.
“What?” There was obvious surprise in Lowell’s tone.
He had heard of the rumors outside, but he never believed such rumors. But he had to believe what Lucia said. Looking at a shocked Lowell, Lucia briefly told him what had just happened. After a while, Lucia clearly felt that Lowell was silently retraining her emotions.
“What’s wrong?” Lucia asked confused, with a hint of worry in her tone.
“Nothing. I’m just surprised at the news,” Lowell quickly calmed down and said indifferently.
“Emm.” Lucia says nothing more.
The car was still moving. The two fell into silence with the topic ending. Suddenly, the car left the lane and stopped in a temporary parking lot on the side of the road. Lucia looked around and knew there was no restaurant nearby. She looked at Lowell in confusion.
“Lucia, can you come with me?” Lowell said after thinking for a moment.
“Go with you?” Obviously, Lucia didn’t understand what he meant.
“Leave Strinas and return to Spain with me. That’s not where I grew up. Spain is. Let’s go back there and get married, okay?” Lowell said soon.
Lucie was silent. She had lived an easy life recently, so she almost forgot that Lowell was not Chinese, but Spanish. Without the conflict between him and Malcolm, he wouldn’t have appeared here. Anyway, he had to leave Strinas and return to his country.
But what about her herself? Would she really go with him? Could- Would she go to Spain with a broken heart? Could she start a new life? Lucia smiled self-deprecatingly. She didn’t think she could. At least not now. Subconsciously, she wanted to stay in Strinas, so she could be safe the same land as Malcolm, breathing the same air with him and looking at the same bright moon above their heads.
Lowell’s question really made Lucia difficult to deal with. She didn’t know how to answer him, or how to respond to his proposition .Lucia closed her eyes silently and sighed deeply.
She was really tired.
“Lucia, I won’t force you to give me an answer. When you think it’s okay, tell me, okay? » Lowell sighed in his heart and looked a little disappointed.
“I didn’t divorce him.” Lucia finally opened her mouth.
“It’s no problem. If you don’t want to be Lucia anymore, I can give you a new identity, as long as you want,” Lowell looked at Lucia and said firmly.
“I don’t know. Let me think.” Lucia looked a little troubled.
Without saying anything more, Lowell returned to the alley and headed towards the restaurant he had reserved for lunch. Because of what Lowell said, Lucia was a little distracted the whole time. When she got out of the car, her mind was still in a mess.
The lake was originally calm, but was stirred up by a stone thrown into it. It was not just one person’s mood, but everyone’s, that was affected.
