It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 15
Watching Lucia’s outrage on television, Malcolm’s lips curved into a graceful smile. Indeed, she looked like a feisty little wild cat. There was no trace of fear in her.
Well, that made sense. She wouldn’t have been the wild cat who dared to challenge him in City X if she was afraid.
Malcolm looked at Lucia’s phone number on the document. Then he took out his phone and dialed the number. But, to his great surprise, it was not Lucia’s voice that answered him, but an icy, automated female voice.

Lucia’s phone was turned off. Malcolm’s eyes flashed with a hint of irritation and coldness. He looked through the document to find her address and took the car keys from his desk. He would go to his apartment.
Many journalists remained en masse outside the Evans Group headquarters, waiting patiently. Even if Malcolm refused to make statements, they could carry out their duties by photographing him. After all, they were very good at making up stories from pictures. Another reason for their tenacity was that Malcolm and even the Evans Group employees had done nothing to suppress previous reporting. So they all guessed that he was not denying these reports.
Malcolm’s Land Rover drove through the city streets before stopping at the entrance to an old neighborhood. He wanted to get out of his car. But the appearance of many journalists made him change his mind.
The fatigue on their faces clearly indicated that they had been waiting for a day and a night. This meant that Lucia had not returned to her apartment during this time.
She had turned off her phone and did not return home. “Little wildcat, are you really challenging me?” “, he thought.
At the thought, Malcolm couldn’t help but smile. Perhaps it was the vitality she exuded that evening that attracted him. And that pushed him to take the initiative to catch her in his net. But he didn’t expect what would happen later.
“Wildcat, if you like to play, then I will play games with you. »
Then his Land Rover left as quietly as it came.
Zack’s villa was in the most remote part of the community. This was where he usually kept his wives. However, this house has remained unoccupied for three years since he was transferred to Europe.
” Oh my God! You? »
This surprised female voice interrupted Lucia’s steps. She stopped in her tracks and looked in the direction the voice was coming from. There she saw a woman in jeans and a simple linen shirt. The woman was so shocked that she was speechless in disbelief. No, she couldn’t be considered a woman yet. She was just a girl. Lucia estimated that the girl in front of her was less than twenty years old.
” Do you know me? », asked Lucia curiously.
She was not part of this community. No one could have known her here, because she only lived here temporarily.
” Oh no! I do not know you. But you look so much like someone I know,” the girl replied quickly with a hint of excitement in her voice. She walked over to Lucia and looked her up and down.
” It’s true? », asked Lucia doubtfully, raising her eyebrows.
“Yes, my aunt, my father’s sister. You look so much alike. By the way, my name is Kathryn. And you, what’s your name? » Kathryn spoke very quickly. But his sweet voice was very pleasant to hear.
“Does she really look like me?” » What she said piqued Lucia’s curiosity.
” Well yes. You look like twins. In fact, not only in appearance but also in behavior. Looking at you and listening to your voice right now, I feel like I’m standing in front of her. » As she spoke, Kathryn nodded resolutely. She then asked, “Do you want to visit my place?” »
“Where do you live?” », asked Lucia politely.
Usually, girls as young as Kathryn who lived in this community could only be two things. Either they were young ladies from wealthy families, or they were mistresses kept by rich men. Lucia didn’t know which category Kathryn fell into. She didn’t seem to have the arrogance of a spoiled girl from a wealthy family. And she was also too young to be the mistress of a rich man.
“I live right next door,” Kathryn replied cheerfully, pointing to a stark white building in front of them.
“Your house is so beautiful, Kathryn. But unfortunately, I have other things to do. Maybe we can talk next time,” Lucia declined politely. She didn’t like being close to strangers and didn’t want to intrude into other people’s private lives. So after a brief conversation, she politely said goodbye to Kathryn.
Kathryn stood still for a long moment, watching Lucia’s retreating back.
She thought: “Auntie, is this your will? And who is she? »
Lucia lived in isolation for two consecutive days. She didn’t have to think about how to handle the matter or deal with the reporters waiting outside. She also didn’t have to worry about seeing the man who seemed to be a lingering ghost and could appear in front of her at any time. Since she started her professional career, it has been a long time since she had such a life.
Meeting Kathryn was a flash in the pan. Lucia never saw her again.
After the day she met Kathryn, she never left the villa. Here his life was simple but peaceful. She got up early, prepared a small meal and read the daily newspaper as well as the books in the large library in the office.
To outsiders, Zack was nothing more than a rich and ignorant young man. Only Lucia knew that wasn’t the case. He had great knowledge, as evidenced by the large number of books in his office. He was absolutely thoughtful when it came to making decisions. In fact, the performance of the Young Group’s European branch has improved significantly under his leadership. But only Zack himself knew how hard he had worked to succeed.
Lucia leafed through the book she didn’t finish reading yesterday. The perfect temperature in the office, along with the sunlight that streamed in through the gauze curtains, made him blink in delight. But his tranquility at that moment was interrupted by the sudden ringing of the phone.
Reflexively, she looked at her phone to realize that it was still turned off. Then his gaze shifted to the phone on the desk. Indeed, that was the source of the incessant ringing.
Who could it possibly be? Lucia decided to ignore the call. Who it was didn’t matter to him. It wouldn’t be for her anyway. After all, it wasn’t his house.
However, the phone kept ringing. It was as if the caller had no intention of giving up. It definitely tested his patience. The frown on his face deepened. She stood up and stared at the phone, which was ringing frantically like it was a hot potato that couldn’t be touched. Lucia picked up the phone after endless mental battles, but she didn’t say anything.
“My dear Lucia, are you asleep? » Zack’s frivolous voice came from the other end of the line.
“How do you know I’m here?” Lucia asked as she sat down on the desk with the phone in her hand.
“Lucia, this is my villa. Do you really think I won’t know if anyone goes in there? “Zack replied helplessly.
” So what? What do you want? », asked Lucia.
“You’re not as adorable as you used to be, Lucia. I find that the older you get, the less lovable you are. I prefer the Lucia who followed me everywhere. » Lucia had the impression that Zack was talking nonsense.
“If you don’t have anything else to say, I’ll hang up,” she threatened, raising her eyebrows.
She wasn’t naive enough to think he called just to talk nonsense. Zack wouldn’t be such a waste of time. The only women he talked nonsense with were his prey.
” Hold on! Malcolm is looking for you. Either go see him or tell him where you are. Otherwise he will kill me. What the hell did you tell him about our relationship? »
Zack felt he was being so wronged. When he finally got a chance to come back to rest, he got into trouble. Worse still, the person he had upset was Malcolm, someone he couldn’t and wouldn’t provoke. He especially hated Malcolm’s indifferent smile. Every time he saw that kind of smile on Malcolm’s face, he knew something bad was going to happen.
“If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have come back. Oh, no, I wouldn’t have gone to the party and talked with Lucia,” Zack cursed inwardly.
“I told him we were lovers,” Lucia replied, laughing.
“You…” Zack now knew that Lucia had set him up. Indeed, he couldn’t afford to offend her.
“Aren’t we?” Didn’t you use me as a shield? You were the first to claim we were lovers, right? Besides, if we are not lovers, how can I get access to your villa? No one will believe what you say,” Lucia said with a sneer.
“Well, my dear Lucia. Now that Malcolm has spoken to me, he definitely knows you’re here. You’d better take the initiative to contact him. Oops, I have another call, so I’m going to hang up. Think about it. » Zack then hung up the phone quickly.
Lucia put the phone down and returned to the couch with the book in her hands. It was as if nothing had happened just now. The office fell silent again. She left all her problems behind because she didn’t want to be bothered during this week’s vacation.
