It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 25
It was a busy day for DZ Media. There was the sound of keyboards, fax machines and employees buzzing on the telephone. Lucia looked at the pieces of paper that kept coming out of the fax machine. Finally, she let out a low g***n and collapsed onto the spinning chair.
“Lucia, are you finished?” asked Chester, placing a large stack of documents in front of her.
“Meade, check Ella’s schedule.” Then informs Jay to get ready for filming. Fax him this crappy script. Tell everyone to be ready. Filming will begin next week at the latest. We are run out of time. » Looking at Chester, Lucia quickly assigned tasks to her other colleagues.
Then she sat down and looked through the large pile of documents Chester had brought. She efficiently selected the useful documents and gave them to him. Lucia couldn’t help but roar in exhaustion.
Was it because she was living too comfortably lately? First, she took a long vacation. Then she was injured when Mina tried to kill her, so she rested again. Every day, she had a driver to take her to and from the company. Was it for these reasons that she could no longer handle the workload? This kind of work already made him want to break down.
It had been over a week since she returned to her usual work routine. At first, everything seemed new to him. But later, she became numb. Every night, Lucia had to submit to Malcolm’s demands. Sometimes, when we pushed her too hard, she turned into an aggressor. But in the end, she always admitted defeat.
Malcolm, on the other hand, was always in the mood to send her to work and pick her up every day. Even if she worked overtime, he was going to wait for her to show up downstairs. Then they would have dinner and return to his apartment together. Lucia wondered if he really had that much free time. But her gentle attack melted his heart to a certain extent. The only thing that kept her from giving in was her pride.
“Lucia, what are you thinking about? You’re blushing,” Mae joked as she brought Lucia a cup of coffee. She noticed that Lucia was lost in thought, her face blushing.
“Come on, Mae! Don’t let these people fool you,” Lucia said angrily, throwing a pillow at Mae.
Mae just laughed. Nimbly grabbing the cushion, she threw it back to Lucia and quickly fled.
She wasn’t stupid. Recently, she noticed that someone was dropping Lucia off at work and picking her up every day after work. And Lucia was kicked out of her apartment by her landlady because of the problems she caused recently. Gossip had wings. Lucia’s colleagues didn’t need to ask. They came automatically to their ears. As for the mysterious man who drove Lucia to work every day, most of her co-workers guessed it was Malcolm. Then Lucia’s current location was also obvious.
Lucia just ignored Mae. His mind was busy remembering what had happened this morning.
The sun rose very early this morning. When Lucia was awakened by her biological clock, she was surprised to discover the disappearance of the man who had dominated her all night. The residual warmth of the bed told him that Malcolm had recently left. Without the familiar figure beside her, Lucia felt a little frustrated.
She freshened up quickly and left the room. She planned to go out early to buy breakfast and take the crowded subway to work. People could easily change their lifestyle from simple to extravagant. But the opposite was difficult to do. Over the past week, she has gotten used to eating a ready-made breakfast every day and driving to and from work in Malcolm’s car. Even if he wasn’t available, he let his driver take him there.
Now, being alone in such an empty house, Lucia felt uneasy. She hit her head hard, warning herself not to continue being corrupted like this.
“Don’t hit your head like that. If you became stupid, I wouldn’t want you anymore. » A light mockery floated from the other end of the living room.
Lucia turned around quickly, and the missing corner in her heart seemed to have been filled in all at once. She stood frozen looking at Malcolm. He was wearing pajamas. And to his great surprise, he had a tray in his hands. It was a simple breakfast, two ham sandwiches and two cups of coffee. While looking at the food, Lucia raised her eyebrows and pouted.
“Did you do this?” she asked with a hint of doubt and surprise in her voice.
” Is there a problem? » Malcolm put the tray down and motioned for her to come and have breakfast.
Lucia walked towards the dining room step by step and sat down in her seat. Dividing the food for the two of them, Malcolm lowered his head and ate, ignoring her.
“I didn’t know you knew how to cook,” Lucia said.
Tears were streaming down his eyes. Since she became independent, no one had ever made her breakfast. Even Jonah had never done it. Lucia usually had coffee and bread for breakfast because she was always in a hurry. She had been so busy at work that she had already forgotten what it felt like to have a decent breakfast.
“Why are you crying?” Cooking is simple and easy. When I was studying abroad, I had to learn to do a lot of things on my own. » As he spoke, Malcolm sighed softly. Then he got up and approached Lucia. He gently took her in his arms and wiped her tears with his fingertips.
” No do not do that. Don’t be so nice to me, Malcolm. Otherwise, I will fall in love with you. » Lucia broke free from his embrace in a childish way and stood up.
Malcolm didn’t say anything. Then he returned to sit across from her. They continued to eat breakfast quietly.
Reflexively taking the plates and cups, Lucia took them to the kitchen and washed them. Malcolm didn’t stop her. The housekeeper was supposed to take care of things like that. Yet, to Lucia, they were a married couple and it was up to her to do so as a wife.
” Hold on! A married couple? Marry? » Lucia was shocked by these words that came to her mind. “Am I really losing my heart? Did I fall in love with Malcolm, who is sometimes tender, sometimes ruthless? » Lucia seemed to have been so frightened by her own thoughts that she dropped the plate in her hands. Then she quickly returned to the room to change. By this time, Malcolm had also changed into a suit and walked out. He looked at the plates and cups in the sink, then at the strange Lucia without saying a word.
He took her hand, and the two left the apartment together. He drove her to work. Lucia remained silent throughout the journey. When she was about to get out of the car, Malcolm pulled her. Then he kissed her delicately on the lips before letting her go. He waited for her to enter the office building before leaving.
“Lucia, your mind must be elsewhere. I tried to call you, but you can’t seem to hear me at all,” Hayes complained, standing in front of his desk.
” Oh nothing. I’m just thinking about filming,” Lucia replied calmly after coming to her senses.
“Meade checked Ella’s calendar. The latter will be available next Tuesday. And we informed Jay too. We have completed the rest of the preparations. Everything is ready now. We’ll just wait for filming to start at any time. » Hayes handed Lucia the schedule.
Lucia took it and looked through it quickly. After verifying that everything was according to the plan, she signed it and returned it to Hayes. Hayes left without saying anything more.
Lucia sorted through her messy thoughts and returned her attention to the computer. She began to seriously deal with her unfinished work.
Inside a bar in the Middle East
A man hidden in the darkness said coldly, “Don’t let that woman arrive on time.” »
He gracefully looked at the crystal glass in his hand and shook the scarlet liquid in it. Then he brought the glass to his mouth and took a sip. After gently placing the glass on the table, he looked coldly at the man standing in front of him.
“Yes, Commander,” Hudson replied respectfully. ” But I dont understand. Why not just make his plan fail? » He was confused.
“Ah… Don’t you think it will be more interesting?” I will slowly destroy everything he holds dear. » The commander left the darkness and chuckled lightly.
“Yes, you are right, Commander. » After these words, Hudson turned and left.
“I just wonder how you’re going to weather the coming storm this time, Malcolm,” the commander thought.
Under the dim light, the man’s smile seemed so cold and attractive. Her slender figure cast a long shadow. He drank the wine in his glass and crushed the glass easily with a little force. The pieces of broken glass pierced his palm, and fresh b***d spurted out, dripping onto the ground like flowers.
A man next to him saw that he was injured. Stepping forward, he cleaned his wound and bandaged it.
