It's Love That Blinds Him
It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 59

In the Evans Group

The directors walked out of the meeting room with sullen expressions. They had hoped their CEO would be in a good mood after their wedding. But they quickly understood that hope was in vain. Malcolm came to work with a sour expression this morning. He didn’t even bother trying to smile. He sat there with his grim expression throughout the meeting. If anything, he seemed to be in a worse mood than usual. Usually, when someone made a mistake, he would call them back after the meeting and tell them about it. But today everyone received a public reprimand. Worse still was the fact that he had not delivered the reprimand himself; he had his help, Bob, do it. He just sat quietly in his chair, looking at them with an icy expression.

It was humiliating to be scolded by the CEO, or rather his assistant, in front of everyone. It was mutually agreed that they would rather die than go through this again. But they knew Malcolm wasn’t doing this just because he wanted to. As they looked at each other around the table, they agreed that he was the one expressing his anger over the news about his wife. They had no doubt that people working in the advertising department would lose their jobs. It was because they had failed to contain the news that the information had been leaked. Their eyes turned to Moore Song. He had been nervous the whole time, and now, a light sheen of sweat could be seen glistening on his forehead.

“Malcolm, what should we do regarding Lucia’s news? Enoch asked hesitantly.

Malcolm sat like a gargoyle in his chair. His hands were firmly pressed on the table, his back was straight, and his jaw was clenched in that provocative way that meant he was grumpy. He never once looked at any of the directors; he kept his eyes fixed on the photo in the newspaper.

“Just let her teach him a lesson.” Keep the news from grandma. She doesn’t need to know,” Malcolm said coldly.

Enoch nodded and remained silent. For a brief moment, he had begun to think that Malcolm had fallen in love with Lucia. Maybe this was Malcolm’s way spoiled her and spoiled her who had led him to think that. Now that they were both married, Malcolm no longer dropped her off and picked her up. He was back to being the same old Malcolm as before. “Oh,

before “I forget, he seems to have left Spain,” Enoch said quickly, before the thought escaped him again.

“Appears?” » Malcolm’s eyes narrowed and he frowned.

“I can’t say for sure. But he must have left Madrid. I think he has left Spain, or he will leave soon,” Enoch said.

“Alright then. Be careful,” Malcolm said before falling silent again.

Enoch took a breath to say something more but stopped when he thought about it again. This man was the only person in the world who could force his brother to act so seriously. Even though they had been competitors for so many years, he had never seen the man’s face once. Enoch had to admit that he was curious as to who this man was.

“Don’t be so nosy,” Malcolm said slowly. “It will reveal itself sooner or later.

And this time, our score will be settled once and for all. How will you show yourself this time?’ Malcolm thought as his eyes wandered, seemingly trying to look all the way to Madrid. Instead of dampening Enoch’s interest, Malcolm’s words only made him even more curious.

Now that the bodyguards were no longer following her, Lucia felt like she could finally relax. Yesterday’s flood of journalists had frightened her quite a bit. To try to look more ordinary and blend in better, she wore a pair of large sunglasses, regular jeans, and a loose t-shirt. She couldn’t be bothered to style her hair in any particular way, choosing instead to leave it fashionably messy. Then she slipped into the crowd and tried to disappear. Since yesterday’s incident had already been published in the newspapers, she had no doubt that the journalists had the impression that she would be hiding at home all day.

Even though it was well into the afternoon, the sun was still bright and warm. Lucia shoved her backpack a little and rushed to a roadside cafe. With all the walking she had done today, she was grateful that she had chosen to wear a pair of practical sneakers. The café had been built in the shadow of a huge phoenix. The leaves had begun to yellow as the seasons moved from summer to fall, creating a picturesque comparison to the blue bricks of the cafe.

” Lucy! What brings you today? I haven’t seen you for almost a year!” the shopkeeper exclaimed excitedly and went out to greet her.

“Stop. Please, just make me a cup of coffee and bring me some desserts. I need some sugar,” Lucia said bitterly, pretending to kick Kenneth.

“Surely the wife of the CEO of the Evans Group should be well fed? Why are you so hungry? If the journalists see you like this, they’ll think your husband is torturing you,” Kenneth joked, quickly dodging Lucia’s kick.

“Didn’t you read the paper this morning?” I had an argument with my husband. I came here looking for comfort.” Lucia stared at Kenneth with such a fierce look that he began to worry that she would trash the store if he didn’t bring her food right away. “Sit down

. I’ll bring your order now,” Kenneth said, shaking his head as he walked away to get her some food.

Lucia plopped down on one of the couches by the window and watched his back recede. She couldn’t help but smile. There was something about this whole interaction that helped ease his bad mood. Kenneth was only four years older than Lucia. That put him at 30 years old. He was well beyond what was considered marriageable age. And he didn’t have a girlfriend. Lucia only knew him by pure coincidence. Back when the forum was still popular among young people, he and Lucia were constantly arguing about various topics. They had even met in person on occasion to continue some of their debates. Surprisingly, they had ended up becoming close friends. But they weren’t friends in the sense that they talked about their personal matters. They mostly talked about romance.

In this way, Lucia had slowly gotten to know Kenneth. One of the first things she discovered about him was that he was gay and was romantically involved with his French boyfriend. At the time, there weren’t many people who accepted homosexuality, although it wasn’t outright rejected. Kenneth’s s****l preference didn’t bother Lucia at all. All she cared about was that he was a good friend. Their friendship had lasted well over the years and grown with each passing month. When Kenneth’s boyfriend came to live in China, the two of them opened this no-name cafe on the most beautiful road in S City.

The cafe was different from others found in S City. It offered authentic European-style tea, smooth coffee and had a quaint and romantic atmosphere and design. It was no wonder he quickly became famous. Unfortunately, Lucia didn’t frequent the café often. When she was in the area, she would order a cup of coffee and chat with Kenneth about recent events in her life. Oddly enough, even though Lucia and Jonah had been together for a long time, she had never brought him here and introduced him to Kenneth or the cafe. It was her corner of the world that she had kept secret.

Lucia had been able to follow the news of Kenneth’s café via the Internet, the food programs and the comments of Internet users. Kenneth had kept up to date with her current situation through the power of the Internet. Lucia didn’t know why, after two years, she came to the café. It was right at the time.

“A Caramel Macchiato and a Matcha Mousse. You’ve been eating these desserts for as long as I’ve known you. Don’t you want to try something different?” Kenneth said, placing the plates in front of her.

“Nah. I’m loyal and lazy. Just know that your cooking becomes unbearable when I start eating something else, Lucia said casually. “So tell

me, how are you?” Kenneth said, wanting to make fun of her but stopping. As much fun and games as they both had, he worried about her.

Lucia was a special friend to him. He still remembered the way they argued when they s ‘had first met on the Internet. But even then, he could see that she wasn’t like the others. While other forum users started swearing and getting nasty when frustrated, Lucia had remained calm and polite, doing her best to find whatever flaws she could in what he was saying. Then, when they met in person, she hadn’t changed her tone just because she had seen him. She remained the same, with the same attitudes and arguments. As their friendship blossomed, he came to view Lucia as a special person. Even when he told her about his s****l orientation, she hadn’t been at all disgusted. In fact, she even supported him.

“What do you mean? If you’re talking about my health, I’m quite safe and sound, as you can see. If you’re referring to my emotional state, it’s something I imposed on myself. Nobody didn’t force me to, which means there’s no right or wrong,” Lucia said simply.

While Kenneth was talking to Lucia, new customers came in and greeted him, indicating that they wanted to be served. Kenneth looked at her apologetically. Lucia shrugged slightly and nodded towards the waiting customers. When Kenneth left to attend to customers, Lucia curled up on the couch to read her book. From time to time, she would take a sip of her coffee or a bite of her dessert.

If she was honest, there was no place she knew of that could make cakes and coffee quite like this cafe. But then again, Kenneth’s boyfriend had been a Michelin star chef in France. He could have had it all, fame, wealth and more. But he had given up everything to move into a small place with his boyfriend. Customers who didn’t know the truth simply considered the food the best they had ever had. Those who knew the whole story felt honored every time they ate here. Lucia let out a small sigh of satisfaction.

“Miss, is this seat occupied?” » said a soft male voice.

Lucia raised her head and quickly looked around the cafe. Apart from his table, everywhere else was full. It was rude of her to take up an entire table by herself. Not to mention she had a window seat. She shook her head slightly in response and went back to reading her book.

The man sat quietly, opened his laptop and got busy.

Lucia couldn’t help but look at him out of the corner of her eye. She felt her heart skip a beat in appreciation of his appearance. It looked as if it had been carved by the angels themselves and personally sent from heaven by God. She could tell by his appearance that he was mixed race. He had bright blue, deep-set eyes, a high nose, and thin lips. His eyebrows were still so delicately furrowed in thought as he concentrated on what he was doing. Now that she looked at him, Lucia discovered that there was only one word that could describe him; angel.

He was different from Malcolm in every sense of the word.

‘For God’s sake!’ Lucia scolded herself. “Why is he always on my mind?” I’m still mad at him after the argument we had yesterday. But was it true? Maybe that was something only she could answer for herself. Malcolm had conceded. And if she was honest with herself, she wasn’t as angry with him anymore.

After she had time to calm down and think rationally, she realized he was right. Since the choice was hers, she would have to compromise, even if it meant hurting his feelings a little.

Lucia shook it off and returned to her careful study of the man. Unlike Malcolm, he didn’t give off a dangerous aura. Instead, he showed that he was a gentleman, a nobleman. There was something about his gentle appearance that made Lucia feel like he could easily warm people’s hearts. But she felt there was something wrong with him.

“Miss, don’t be rude or anything, but is there something on my face? the man asked Lucia with a small frown.

“No, I’m sorry. I was just lost in thought,” Lucia said softly, feeling a blush of embarrassment rise on her cheeks.

For a brief second, the man narrowed his eyes, but his expression quickly returned to passive. He looked down at his laptop and ignored Lucia even more. Lucia shrugged her shoulders slightly and went back to reading her novel. After reading a few pages, Lucia raised her head and stretched, only to find that the man was gone.

“You have some lovely guests coming here. No wonder business is booming,” Lucia teased Kenneth as they left.

“You mean the man who sat with you? Trust me, he caught the attention of more than a few a lady. They’re crazy about him,” Kenneth said once he realized who Lucia was referring to.

“Is he a regular customer?” » Lucia asked curiously.

“You are a married woman. Why are you so curious about him? » Kenneth said, raising a disapproving eyebrow at Lucia. “But to answer your question, I haven’t seen him much. He started coming this week and usually hangs around here for an hour or two. He doesn’t talk to the women who come to worship him. You’re the first no one to whom he said a word.” The corners of Kenneth’s lips curled into a smirk.

“Banish your bad thoughts. I’m leaving now.”

Lucia patted Kenneth on the shoulder, paid for his food and left.

“Please come back if you have time!” Kenneth called after her.

“Oh, you bet I will! Now I have time, I will be here every day to harass you. You will never have a moment of peace!” Lucia said out loud without turning around.

Kenneth smiled as he watched Lucia leave. It was good to have a friend like her.
