It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 82
“Hello Lucie! It’s me, Catherine.”
Kathryn’s voice came from the other end of the line. Lucia raised her eyebrows in surprise. But she soon realized that she and Kathryn had exchanged phone numbers at the door of Zack’s villa that day. So it was no surprise that Kathryn had his number. In her case, so much had happened that she forgot to save Catherine’s number in her phone. That’s why it seemed unrecorded when she received the call.
“Hi Catherine! I’m glad you have time to call me,” Lucia said with a smile.
“I read the news in the newspaper. Lucie, are you okay?” Catherine’s voice was full of worry.
“Not really. I’m homeless and I’m looking for a place to stay,” Lucia joked to lighten the mood.
“Come to my place, Lucie. I’m alone anyway, and I feel so alone. It will be more fun if you are here with me,” Kathryn offered sincerely.
“Your place? I don’t think that’s a good idea. After all, you don’t own the house.” Lucia did not deny for a moment that she had been tempted by Catherine’s offer. But his reason quickly foiled the idea.
“Well, I’m sure he won’t mind.” He never cares about this kind of thing. So you don’t have to worry,” Catherine said seriously.
“If that’s the case, I’ll accept your offer then. I’ll stay with you for now. But as soon as I find a house, I’m moving immediately.” Lucia accepted without hesitation.
“Okay, then. I’ll wait for you.” There was a hint of excitement in Catherine’s voice.
“Okay, see you later,” Lucia agreed with a smile.
In fact, she loved the villa where Kathryn lived so much, especially its glass roof. Lucia never thought she would have the chance to live there in such a situation. “Is this a blessing in disguise? Or a potential danger?’ Lucia couldn’t help but laugh at herself. Maybe so much had happened recently that she still felt like everything was dangerous.
After hanging up the phone, Kathryn picked up the phone in the living room and dialed a number. She spoke before the person on the other end of the line could say anything.
“Lucia accepted my offer to live here for the time being. She’s coming later.”
“Well done,” a man greeted in a magnetic voice.
“I’m just curious. Why do you want Lucia to live here?” Catherine asked suspiciously.
“You’re asking too many questions. There was a trace of dissatisfaction in the man’s voice.
“Sorry,” Kathryn apologized sadly.
The man then hung up the phone. Loneliness filled Catherine’s eyes again. “Does he know Lucia personally? Why is he making such a request? He once said that no one could live in this house except me. At that moment, I thought I was special to him. But now why does he let Lucia live here?
What’s wrong ?’ No matter how much Kathryn racked her brain, she couldn’t figure it out. So she quickly put her emotions aside. After all, she could only obey his every order. She could do anything like he said. Kathryn had endured more than she could handle at her age.
In the Evans Group conference room
“What did you say?” Malcolm asked.
“Sir, someone bought Evans Group shares for no reason. This will inevitably cause a backlash,” Bob explained respectfully.
“Recover the stocks and pay attention to the situation. I don’t want unnecessary remarks to appear in the news. If there’s nothing else, you can leave now,” Malcolm said casually, removing the coldness from his expression.
“Okay sir.”
Bob got up and left, and the other executives superiors followed suit. Only Malcolm and Enoch now remained in the conference room.
“What do you think?” Malcolm asked.
“I think it’s not as simple as buying stocks . But I can’t guess the motive either.
The European and American markets were relatively affected. Although the news about it has been suppressed, I don’t think the person behind this will be satisfied,” Enoch replied. “
He’s selling the mannequin! Enoch suddenly exclaimed.
He looked at Malcolm, who had remained silent. Malcolm raised his head and looked at him in awe. After several years of experience, Enoch had matured a lot. He was no longer the careless child who only looked at the surface and did not analyze the real situation. “Oh my
God ! What is this man’s goal?” Enoch began to become inexplicably irritable again.
“Middle East,” Malcolm uttered indifferently.
“What?” Enoch asked incredulously.
As soon as he finished speaking, Malcolm turned on the video on the screen. Byron’s anxious voice was heard. Sure enough, something had happened in the Middle East. The drug transport from the Golden Triangle to the Middle East was destroyed. The shortage of raw materials caused to subsequent transactions losses of varying degrees.
Malcolm thought about Byron’s words. Soon, he took out his phone and dialed a number. Then Kaleb’s respectful voice came from the other end of the line. “Is he still
at S City?” Malcolm asked to confirm.
“Yes sir. But we can’t find where he is,” Kaleb replied dutifully.
Malcolm hung up the phone, lost in thought. “Since he’s still in S City, he could take care of me here. Why did he do something in the Middle East? Wasn’t it his fault? A hint of coldness flashed in Malcolm’s eyes. It was so quiet in the conference room that even a needle could be heard as it fell to the floor.
“Malcolm, what’s going on? » Enoch asked with a frown.
‘Who the hell is he? How dare he take such a big step in the Middle East! Except for this man who has been fighting with Malcolm for more than a decade, no one else dares to provoke the Evans family so openly. He was behind the accident that happened in the Middle East last time. This time, who is behind the accident?
“I’m going to go to the Middle East. You stay here in S City. I want to see who is generous enough to provoke the Evans family.” Malcolm’s voice held nothing but coldness.
“But he’s in S City right now. If you go to the Middle East, don’t you just give him a chance?” Enoch said worriedly.
“Aren’t you there? Don’t you have confidence in yourself?” Malcolm asked indifferently.
“Of course, I’m confident.
“Keep an eye on her. I don’t want any trouble to arise again before I get back,” Malcolm replied.
“Malcolm, why don’t you take her back?” Why do you have to leave her outside alone?” Enoch asked in confusion.
Malcolm left Lucia alone outside, but he assigned a group of computer masters to follow her every day. They weren’t literally following her but the red dot. In Enoch’s eyes, this wouldn’t work. They only knew her location, but they didn’t even know if there was anyone with her. If something happened to her, they wouldn’t be able to come to her rescue in time.
‘Oh my God! It’s just an anklet, and the tracker on it is just a signal point, not a probe. What is Malcolm thinking? Enoch thought, a little hopelessly. ‘Are you curious?
‘ Malcolm asked, glancing at Enoch, who looked frantic with worry.
“A little,” Enoch replied with a nod.
“Find out for yourself. Tell Bob to book a flight for me to the Middle East the day after tomorrow. And make an appointment with her for me,” Malcolm said without stopping.
“What? Who do you want to make an appointment with?” This time Enoch became more confused.
“Renee,” Malcolm replied, his voice becoming even colder.
“Okay, I got it.” Enoch soon returned to normal.
But he couldn’t help but sigh silently. He always thought Malcolm would just warn Renee. After all, they loved each other. But now he guessed that Malcolm wasn’t going to spare him. ‘Renée…’ Enoch screamed her name silently in his head. He wondered if she would still be able to see the sunrise tomorrow.
—And Lucie? Isn’t she as important to Malcolm’s heart as I think? Looking at Malcolm’s dark face, Enoch began to doubt his initial judgment. After Lucia’s alleged romance was revealed, Malcolm did nothing despite his fury. Instead, he even acquiesced in her decision to leave. Enoch wondered why.
Everything was like a thread of wool that mixed together and formed a ball, getting dirtier and dirtier. And it was the cat who smoothed the threads, but he also got tangled in them. It was driving him crazy.
Lucia stood at the entrance to the community with her luggage. She didn’t expect that she would come back here after just a few days. The only difference was that she wasn’t going to Zack’s villa this time. Instead, she would stay in the villa with a glass roof that she dreamed of.
“Lucie…” Catherine’s voice was like a bell ringing in his ears.
Lucia stood still and watched as Kathryn ran towards her happily. It had been a long time since she had such a simple state of mind as Catherine. When had she become so obsessed with her own life? As soon as Kathryn approached Lucia, she helped her with her luggage and happily led the way. Lucia smiled and gently followed Catherine until the house appeared in front of her.
She put down her luggage and unconsciously took a deep breath. The appearance of the quaint wooden building made her feel particularly comfortable. It was the smell of nature that helped her forget the troubles brought by the city. All she could think about was the faint scent of wood.
“We feel so comfortable here,” Lucia said with emotion.
“Let me take you to your room. You will definitely like it more,” Kathryn said proudly.
Lucia raised her eyebrows and her eyes were full of expectation. Kathryn blinked mischievously and quickly walked ahead. Lucia followed her. Walking up the wooden stairs, the sound made by the collision of the wood and the soles of his shoes was not harsh.
When Kathryn pushed the door open, Lucia was shocked. She couldn’t find words to describe everything inside. It was so beautiful.
The most classic American-style carved bed, all the cabinets built into the wall, and an oven at the head of the bed were all beyond his expectations. But that was the main thing. The most important part was the huge piece of clear glass on top of the piece. When she looked up, she could see the starry sky. If it was too dazzling, she would draw the curtains, and it would be dark. The inner and outer worlds of the room could be controlled by her.
“Whose room is this?” Lucia asked Catherine curiously.
“No one owns this room. You will be the first to stay here, Lucia,” Catherine replied in a slightly odd tone.
“I’m so lucky then,” Lucia said happily.
“Lucia, enjoy your new room. You can stay here for now. I’ll call you for dinner later, okay?” Catherine said with a smile.
“Oh, you don’t have to worry about me. I’ll take care of my dinner. I don’t want to cause you too much trouble,” Lucia said shyly. “No, it’s okay
. Cooking is easy for me. And this is my way of welcoming you. We’ll live together from now on, Lucia, Kathryn said happily.
“Kathryn, thank you very much,” Lucia said sincerely.
The new surroundings and the simple scent of wood brightened his mood. And the depression she felt seemed to disappear. For her, it meant a new life. She hoped everything would change when she woke up again.
