It's Love That Blinds Him
It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 85

The autumn sun was warm and pleasant. It shone through the windows, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Lucia hadn’t moved since she entered the room. She just lay there lazily. The sunlight streaming in through the windows did not touch his body, but was scattered around the room in a delicate display. The comfortable, calm atmosphere combined with the heat made her even less inclined to get up.

“Lucia,” Kathryn called, poking her head into the room after a brief knock.

Lucia quickly twisted to sit up when she heard Catherine’s voice. She smiled at Catherine as the latter entered the room. Kathryn was unlike any other woman Lucia had ever met. She had a special feeling for her. And she loved him very much. Maybe it had something to do with his bright eyes and pure heart. Or maybe it was the gentle way the corners of her eyes crinkled when she smiled. She had an innocent look that always made Lucia jealous. Lucia had been a part of the company for so long now that she was sure she had lost that spark.

“What’s new?” Lucia asked with a smile.

“It’s time for dinner. I made some seafood risotto and borscht soup. Come and have some,” Kathryn said with a warm smile.

“Kathryn, whoever marries you will be very, very happy. You are literally the complete package. You can keep a massive house and still cook a wonderful dinner. Not to mention you have the most beautiful smile and your eyes are the shape cutest when you’re happy. Just seeing you puts me in a good mood.” Every word Lucia said was sincere and, in her eyes, true.

“Lucie… You’re teasing me, aren’t you?” Kathryn’s cheeks flushed at Lucia’s words and she looked a little shy.

Lucia started to laugh. She really loved Catherine.

Once their fun was over, Lucia got out of bed and followed Kathryn downstairs to the dining room. Even the dining room wasn’t as ordinary as a normal family’s. Kathryn had decorated every inch of it. There were an assortment of refrigerator magnets stuck to the door frames, various decorations and odds and ends that made the whole place feel like a home.

With just one glance, something like this would warm even the coldest hearts. It was different from the dull, dull feelings of well-decorated sample rooms. The care and love that had gone into decorating the room was very evident.

Lucia sat at the table and thanked Kathryn as she served the seafood risotto and borscht. Kathryn smiled at him as she sat down across from Lucia. The smell of the food was so tempting that Lucia couldn’t help but swallow it. Only now did she realize that she had forgotten to eat all day. She had been so busy that the thought of food had been the last thing on her mind. But the delicious rice and hot soup filled the hungry pit of his stomach.

Nothing in life can compare to the pleasure of having your hunger satisfied.

Kathryn watched with a little pride as Lucia ate her meal. “If only he loved my cooking as much as Lucia…” Catherine’s smile faded and the bright light in her eyes diminished at the thought of him. She narrowed her eyes, trying to hide the loneliness that had suddenly set in.

Catherine was too preoccupied to notice Lucia looking at her. She also hadn’t realized that his expression had changed several times in the span of a few minutes. Lucia studied him silently, guessing quite accurately what had suddenly lowered his mood. It was pretty obvious that Catherine was thinking about someone she missed. Lucia easily acknowledged her pain. It was the feeling of wanting something so desperately, but being unable to achieve it. Such a beautiful elf girl shouldn’t look sad. The emotion didn’t seem right to him.

” You miss him? asked Lucy.

“Oh… Yes,” Catherine said hesitantly, quite surprised that Lucia had guessed so accurately. ” How did you know? » She raised an eyebrow in confusion.

“Would you mind if I called you Kat?” You have a really easy to read expression. It’s not that hard to guess,” Lucia teased.

Catherine blushed. Lucia realized that Kathryn was a rather shy girl. At the mere mention of her secret, she blushed like a princess. This only made Lucia want to to tease her even more. When she was with Catherine, it was as if all her problems had suddenly disappeared. She couldn’t help but think that maybe coming to live here was the right choice.

“He calls me Kat too,” Catherine said softly.

“What do you like about him?” Lucia asked with impetuous curiosity. She had to wonder what kind of man had captured Catherine’s heart like that.

“Everything. The way he smiles and laughs. His expression when he gets angry. The little things his face does without him knowing… I love it all,” Kathryn said wistfully, resting her chin in her hand .

“How old were you when you two first met? When did you start having feelings for him?” asked Lucy.

Kathryn couldn’t have been more than 17 or 18 years old. For someone so young, she shouldn’t say such mature things. This only made Lucia all the more curious. She wanted to know how they met and what kind of person he was. Most of all, she wanted to know what was so special about him that made Catherine so loyal to him. At her age, she had already reserved her heart for a man who might never love her back.

“Um, let me think.” Kathryn relaxed in his hand and her eyes took on a distant look.

“When I was about 10 years old. My aunt raised me. My father died in a car accident while my mother was pregnant with me, and my mother died of depression shortly after I was born. So my aunt took me in. And then she died too. I was 10 years old when the illness took her away. I had no other parents. I had no other choice but to go to the orphanage. He adopted me. I think he left a lasting impression because of that,” Kathryn said seriously.

“Your aunt? Last time we met, you said I looked like her,” Lucia said after remembering her words.

“You do. You two look a lot alike. That’s why I was so curious about you,” Catherine said, nodding vigorously. “Really?”

Lucia reached out and gently touched Catherine’s head. , an amused expression on her face.

Kathryn was so lucky to have met someone like him. She was no longer homeless. It kept her off the streets, away from drugs and other harmful things . Just this little piece of conversation was enough for Lucia to have a firm judgment on Kathryn’s character. She was a young girl who loved life and who was thirsty for love. “I remember what you said to

me you said last time. You said you couldn’t be together because he already has someone he loves,

“It’s nothing more than a guess. I guess it’s the only way I can stop myself from fantasizing about him all the time. He’s also a lot older than me. I don’t think that we are compatible in many ways; mentally being one of them. Someone like you suits him better. Not someone as young as me. He still treats me like a child. Actually no. He treats me like a pet. Things are fine when he’s in a good mood. But most of the time I’m alone. He just forgets about me.” Kathryn’s youthful face pinched with sadness. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t hide her feelings.

“Love has no age. The only thing that matters is whether you are truly suitable for each other. Love is not always about being in a relationship with someone . Sometimes you just need to look out for them. I’m sure there will come a day when he realizes that you’re the one for him,” Lucia said, trying to sound optimistic.

Even though Kathryn was young, Lucia could see that she had a mature heart and mind. She was a sensitive soul, very receptive to love. She had no doubt that Catherine would do anything for those who were good to her. Lucia didn’t want to talk to Catherine like a child. Not when Catherine was adult enough to have a serious conversation about the things that troubled her. Lucia respected Kathryn in a way she couldn’t describe.

“Thank you Lucy. I really appreciate that,” Kathryn said gratefully, dabbing the tears from the corners of her eyes.

“Silly. Come here,” Lucia said softly as she hugged her.

“Oh, before I forget, will he pass by here? Are you sure he will be okay with me living here?” Lucia asked quickly .

“What? No. He’s never there. If he comes, we usually end up outside. You don’t have to worry,” Catherine said with a small frown and a nod.

“Lucie…”

Kathryn started but stopped. Instead of finishing her sentence, she tilted her head to the side and looked at Lucia questioningly. Then she shook her head, deciding it was better to say nothing. Lucia raised her eyebrows in confusion. Kathryn shook off her worry and sat back in her chair. Lucia gave another small smile and gently patted Kathryn on the head. Then she slipped into her chair and continued eating.

It wasn’t long until the two finished their food. Lucia looked at the empty dishes and slumped against the wooden chair with a satisfied smile. She readjusted the pillow behind her so that it rested snugly against the small of her back. Now she was really comfortable. Kathryn got up and quickly cleaned the dishes. She took them into the kitchen and put them in the sink to clean later. She came back from the kitchen with a bowl of mango pomelo sago, a sort of dessert. She proudly placed it in front of Lucia.

“Kat…I’m so full. If you keep feeding me like this I’m going to look like a pig,” Lucia said as she sipped the drink.

“There’s more in the fridge. Please have as much as you want. Don’t hold back,” Kathryn said, waving her finger over her shoulder toward the kitchen.

“No…I don’t want to look like a pig. No one will like me if I do,” Lucia teased.

“Lucia,” Catherine said softly.

“Yes?” Lucia looked up at Kathryn expectantly as she ate the dessert.

“What happened between you two?” You and Mr. Evans?” Catherine asked without thinking. Almost as soon as the words had left her mouth, she realized that it was probably an inappropriate question to ask. She looked down in embarrassment. “There are a lot of

things which don’t really have an explanation. Sometimes things just happen. All is fair in love and war. That’s all there is to do, Lucia said vaguely.

“What kind of person is he?” Catherine asked, suddenly curious. She leaned forward and rested her elbow on the table so she could balance her chin in her hand.

“Malcolm?” At first I thought he was out of my league. I compared him to some kind of god. He is attractive and charming. If I’m honest, the first thing that attracted me to him was his looks. Call me fickle, but I like handsome men.” Lucia smiled a little.

“What kind of person is Malcolm?” » Lucia wondered inwardly. It was as if the longer she had known Malcolm, the more of a stranger he had become. She slowly realized that she knew nothing about him, perhaps what she saw was just a facade. She never knew what he was thinking. And she had never come close to his heart. Malcolm defended himself so hard that he never let anyone in. But it was more than that; he was so ruthless and cold that it often scared people away.

“It was all wrong,” Lucia said to herself.

“Lucia, did you love him? Catherine asked.

“Yes. If I didn’t love him, it wouldn’t hurt so much. If I didn’t love him, I would never have fought for the relationship. If I didn’t love him, I would never have him married, or I would never have wanted to start a family,” Lucia said bitterly.

Before saying more, she finished the mango pomelo sago and fell silent. Kathryn didn’t push her to say anything more. She picked up the empty bowl and gestured towards the refrigerator. Lucia nodded and watched as Kathryn walked into the kitchen to start cleaning up.

When Catherine glanced over her shoulder, Lucia gestured toward the stairs. Kathryn nodded in understanding. Lucia got up and went to her room. She looked up at the lock to check the time, surprised to see how late it already was. She went to the window and looked up at the stars. They were beautiful, winking at him, sparkling for miles and miles. While they were nowhere near as striking as they had been that night, they were enough to ease his loneliness.

Lowell. His name suddenly popped into Lucia’s head. She giggled. People shouldn’t be greedy. But she hadn’t yet learned her lesson. Just the thought of him stirred a pit of desire that shouldn’t have existed.

This late at night, there was nothing else outside to entertain her; only the blinking stars above. Lucia stepped back and drew the curtains, blocking out the rest of the world. “Send me a good dream. And I hope that when I wake up, I’ll be back in the world that I miss so desperately. It’s stupid, I know. But a girl can dream.’
