We walked to the backyard. The small trees and shrubs were definitely what I hoped to see. Then I saw the best spot to hide,

"Put some black clothes on. Getting spotted would warrant your demise" I warned him regarding the darkness of the night. Wearing a black cloth would be hard to spot and I wouldn't be caught because of his white clothes. He pulled off his clothes right in front of me. I turned my gaze away from him immediately.

He chuckled at my alert sense of respect.

"Come on, why do that? It's not like I'm fully naked, and precisely I can't fathom having anything to do with you unlike Lord Perry and Riley..."

"What did you say?" I pretended, not listening to what he said.

"What did you hear?" He retorted.

"Never mind are you done changing"

"Yeah... You can turn around now"

I couldn't help but admire his leather outfit, it felt too pretty for a man to wear. He understood my solid gaze on his outfit. He asked "How do I look?"

"Too revealing I must say" I uttered, mocking him indirectly.

We got seated in the hiding spot, I was pretty sure no one would spot us, The Crown Assassins are too strict to waste their time checking through trees and shrubs.

"What's the time?" I asked trying to leave no stones unturned

"It's 11:36 pm...I'm hungry, you want some snacks?" Adrian asked me. I was happy that the meat sauce I ate earlier wasn't enough to keep me down.

So I conceded.

"I'll eat whatever you're eating"

"Wait here I'll be back." He divulged.

"Where does he think I'll go, nothing could take my attention away from this." I muttered to myself, grabbling the leaves nearby.

"Here you go" Adrian said handing over a cup of wine, I felt so disappointed staring at him, wine was really the snack to him.

"Thanks" I thanked him, gulping down everything at once. It surprised him but that's the only way my father drank his wine. I couldn't help but copy his ways, moreover I'm his daughter. "Sshhhh, they're here" Adrian whispered.

"They're a bit early," I whispered, tossing the cup aside.

Adrian felt sad watching them search through his house, soldiers he trained in combat. It was heartbreaking watching your creation try to kill you.

"You really meant what you said. I can't believe my creations would turn against me someday"

"Now you've seen it so take me home" I said as I tried to stand but was pulled back by Adrian. I didn't realize a soldier was still there.

"Let's burn this house down," Voice 1 suggested.

"Yeah, we'll tell him that we killed him and burnt him in the house." Voice 2 suggested.

"That's the best way to go around this" Voice 3 conceded to his words

"Yeah let's do it then " Voice 4 said as he picked up a gallon of petrol.

Adrian stood up to go and stop them from burning his house.

"Don't go" I pulled him back to the ground. It was my time to stop him from making a mistake.

"What do you want to do? How do you stop don't know how many soldiers are armed with Serum. You're no match for them. Let them tell the lie, you can stay with us for a while while we know what next to do" "OK fine we'll wait here till they're gone" He sighed in tears.

Losing his house because of a personal vendetta of a cold blooded monster.

We waited for an hour, surviving the smoke, until the soldiers left singing songs of victory. They all had sights on the money.

Money they forcibly collected from us.

"Give me your phone" I asked him for his phone.

He gave me the phone hastily. He was scared, confused and filled with hatred, someone he pledged loyalty to would in turn kill him.

I called Dimitri

"Who's this?" I knew that'll be his first question because this number belonged to an unknown caller.

"Dimitri It's Hailey." I whispered stealing glances around hoping the soldiers were not coming back.

"Why are you calling with a different number?" I guessed his next question.

"I need you now, I'm in a big fix and I'll be needing your help now... I'll text you my location now"

"This night trip is a new trend of things you're into" Dimitri mocked me. His words sounded funny but my seriousness couldn't let me be amused.

"Stop joking around and get down here" I cautioned his amusing words.

Adrian walked around his burnt house, filling himself with memories. It really pained him.

"Now I'm dead to this world. What an irony of life" Adrian said sarcastically.

"You're alive, you'll just change your looks and live freely as a new and improved Adrian"

"How does it sound? I'll change my looks because of that monster that calls himself Lord Perry. I formed The Crown and now he wants to take over, that's why he sent people to kill me" "You formed The Crown?" I was shocked at his words.

"It's a long story" He sighed and felt too sad to tell the tales.

"Nevertheless I would love to listen to that story but first be safe" I conceded.

Dimitri arrived in his truck, fixed and repainted. I loved the new looks and designs it had.

"You didn't have to do all this."

"I value this truck so much and besides I've got cash to pull it off. I wouldn't want to lose this baby to The Crown..."

"What's this monster doing here?" Dimitri asked, pulling out a gun and pointing it straight to his face.

I stood in between them and said

"Let's get inside the Truck"

"I don't like this" Dimitri divulged but still conceded to my words.

"Trust me" I whispered.

Dimitri obliged him to get into the truck which he quickly did.

"Ok so now tell me what's he doing here?" Dimitri asked in a mild tone clenching his fist on the steering wheel.

"It's a long boring story but I'll make it short.."

Dimitri chimed in.

"I'm all ears"

"Ok Lord Perry blames that Burnt warehouse case on him and plots to kill him. So I heard of the plot and saved him"

"We're getting too many, we might get caught" Dimitri cautioned as he turned on the engine.

"Let me worry about that, take me back to Lord Perry's house. Take him home I'll tell you what next to do" I gave him that command so that he'll control himself and Ride's aggressive behavior. Dimitri drove in silence, he knew that I was getting angry and hated to see me angry.

"Just stop me here... Get yourself out of here before you're spotted by guards" I warned him as I stormed out of the truck.

I walked down to the gate, hoping no one would ask me questions. The gates were locked hoping that The Gate watchman wouldn't ask me questions.

"Where are you coming from?" The Gate watchman asked in a bold manner standing up from his seat.

I was starkly surprised, finding words to say but none was forthcoming.

"Hailey, did you get the shrubs?"

What's he trying to do?

"Ummm... I didn't see it" I replied, lost in thoughts.

"I sent you to get shrubs for me, and you didn't. How callous and insensitive can you be?" He insulted me, putting up an act for the guard who stared at him with keen interest. The Gate watchman chimed in

"You sent her to get shrubs?"

"Yes sir and I know probably she's been searching for it and now that she couldn't find it she came back empty-handed." Ryan said in a low tone.

"Just go in" The guard shrugged, opening the gate.

I walked in sheepishly, twitching my fingers.

I couldn't hide the fact that he insulted me.

"You just insulted me. You know that right?"

"You should be on your knees begging me to save you from the Watchman," Ryan retorted, smiling.

"How did you know that I was out there?"

"Dimitri told me about the new development, so I confirmed it when you were not in your room. So I stood by the gate waiting for you. There you came and I saved you" He smiled and walked away to his own room. He bid me goodbye.
