Lady Dhampir -
Chapter 183
Dear Millie,
Please don't be mad for taking so long to write to you! I have been so busy in the evenings, I admit writing letters has been sitting on the back of my mind. At least, you should be grateful your brother isn't the one keeping you too busy, I am sure Valentin is happily complaining to you and his wife every single day. I hope he hasn't picked up that I have been trying to avoid him lately... I never thought a fully grown adult man could whine and nag me so much!
I admit it's cold out there; I never thought I could one day think my toes might actually fall off....Is that a real thing? At least, the wind has been calmer these days, so we can ride with less ice and snow flying in our poor faces. Plus, this has given us another nice excuse for a distraction; along with other men, I have gone hunting every single day to bring back more meat, and our adorable seamstresses ladies are working hard to make us some nice new coats and gloves. I have to say, it wasn't so easy at first. I didn't think the simple activity of hunting would cause so many issues! You would be enraged with the selfishness of some people here... Lady De Nova and the Commander in Chief are hardly keeping everyone content, but I cannot blame them: a handful of people here deserve a good beating. Maybe that would help get some common sense into them!
I also got my first letter from Lady De Pristin yesterday! I can't believe how cute even her handwriting is. Her letter was shy and short, but I won't complain, it actually gave me an excuse to write back to her. It makes one more thing to look forward to when I will be back from the war! This, and our Chef's meat patties. I can't believe how much I miss it nowadays for some reason, and it's undoable here, apparently. I have befriended all of the cooking staff and I even get some free extra portions from time to time! Although it's probably fair since I'm among those bringing the most meat back...
I am not sure what else I should tell you in this letter, you know how it isn't my strong suit. I hope you're doing well! Valentin told me to be careful as our mail could be watched, so I won't be saying too many private things here. I know my sister is probably doing well at home by herself anyway, teaching lessons to the noble ruffians and making our Kingdom work like a clock. Do you want me to send you some sort of souvenir? As silly as it may sound, I get along quite well with the guys relaying the mail and taking care of the courier birds, they swore they could get something back as long as it's not too heavy...
I still have two more letters to write and my wrist is already painful. How do you guys do this all day long?
Take care of yourself, my dear little sister, I hope to see you soon!
Lucian.
