Third Person’s POV

As Estarossa set his plan into action, and the Thunder Mountain pack was about to name their new alpha. Something was happening deep in the dark forest. I blinding light filled the forest. Leaving five people in the forest once it died down. A giant, a fairy, a siren, a hybrid werewolf, and a hybrid beast human. *Sniff* *Sniff* “The air is quite clean here.” One said as he floated around in the air. “Yes, and the earth seems to be filled with magic.” Another said as she kneeled to the ground and ran her fingers through the soil. “Enough. Grace, Robin. Do not forget why we are here.” A commanding tone rang out. “Apologies, Alpha.” The giant and the fairy said in unison while bowing their heads in respect.

A man placed his hand on their alpha’s shoulder. “Stay calm sister. I am sure that Natalia and Kayla have been taking good care of the twins since they found them.” He said, trying to ease the racing feelings inside his young alpha sister. She placed her hand on top of his and gave a small smile. “Yes I am sure, Parker, but what if he gets to them. I can not lose them. Kai and Riley are my world.” She said with pain and worry in her voice. “Fear not Alpha Jasmine. You have the best healers with you. Your wolf, Kira, and myself. Nothing will happen to the young ones with us around now.” The bubbly siren said.

Jasmine smiled and had now calmed herself. She had been so worried for her children that it pained her to be without them, but the logical side of her knew that they were doing what the gods intended for them to do. She herself knew better than anyone else that you can not deny your destined path. “You are right, Ren. Now let us go find them and then we can deal with that bastard.” She said. “Yes, Alpha!” The other four said, with smiles on their faces. “That is the Jasmine I know. Besides, I think it is time to have a full family reunion.” Parker said as he shifted into his platinum silver wolf, Sultan, with bright orange eyes. Jasmine chuckled.

“I agree wholeheartedly, my dear brother. Let us bring this to an end for good.” She said as she transformed into her wolf beast soul. A powerful and beautiful grey fur on her body, midway down her legs and around her head. The fur that was on her muzzle, the tip of her tail, around her neck, and the rest of the way down her legs to her paws was pure white. Kira had a giant patch of fur on her forehead that was shaped like a star and was a navy blue color. The bottom of the star went over her eyes. The iris was a bright yellow that really popped with the midnight black pupils and sclera. (The sclera is the white part of the eye.) Kira had two horns on her forehead. A long one in the center of her star mark and a slightly shorter one a couple of inches under the first one. She let out a powerful howl so she could feel the pack bond guide her to her twins betas.

Ren climbed up on Sultan’s back. “I will never get tired of seeing our alpha in either of her beast forms.” She said to no one in particular. “Indeed. Dragon beast humans are rare as it is, but Jasmine is extra rare for also being a tempest star wolf as well as a fire dragon.” Robin said as he floated around. Kira snapped her head to the West and started running in that direction. Sultan took off and was hot on her heels. While the giant, Grace, and the fairy, Robin, followed behind them.

Melody’s POV

After all of the guests had finally arrived. Uncle Raphael got up in front of everyone to speak. “Thank you all for coming. Not only are we celebrating my son’s 18th birthday today, but his succession to the position of Alpha.” Nicholas stood up straight and waved his hand to everyone as the cheers and applause filled the room. He was like a younger version of Uncle Raphael with dark black hair and brown eyes, but he was also a mama’s boy growing up. Aunt Odette doted on him dearly. Thank the Moon Goddess that he didn’t become a selfish spoiled brat. “Hey, M’lady?” Kai called. I turned to look at him on my right. “Yes?”

“How come your brothers have not taken the alpha position yet from your fathers? Is there some kind of test they must complete first?” He asked. I shook my head. “No, there is no test or quest they have to do. EJ and TJ have just decided to wait until they find their mate or mates before they took over the pack.” I answered. Not that my fathers mind. Once my brothers were ready to take over as alpha, my fathers would just run the company in the human world until EJ and TJ got settled. Then they would pass the company over to them after they turned 21. At least that is the plan last time I heard from my brothers about it.

“What do you mean ‘or mates’? Don’t identical multiples share a mate here as well?” Riley asked. “Yes they do, but with my brother’s wolves being so different some people think that they could have different mates or be mated to another set of identical twins.” I explained. Both Kai and Riley said nothing else. They just nodded. I turned my attention back to Uncle Raphael as the applause died down. “Now if everyone would please follow me outside we will begin the ceremony.” He said. Nicholas followed behind his parents and, as the king and queen, Luca and I followed after him. Luca gave me a quick lesson on the royal formalities we have to do as the king and queen. It is normal for us to attend all ceremonies when the exchange of power was to occur within a pack.

Uncle Raphael had just stepped out when something came right at him. It happened so fast, but as I heard the loud clang of metal on metal echo in the air I looked around Uncle Raphael. Riley was there in front of him with her sword drawn and her dress slightly torn on her shoulder. I didn’t even see her leave my side. Kai was in front of Luca and me with his hand gripping his sword. “Alpha Raphael, it would be best to stay inside while I handle this monster.” Riley told him. Uncle Raphael nodded and everyone began moving backward. Once everyone was back inside the glass doors and closed them. Kai took a stance in front of the door. He bit into his wrist making himself bleed quite a bit. “Kai?” I asked, but he ignored me. He drew a weird circle shape with a bunch of different lines and squiggles running through it.

Once he finished drawing it, the circle started to glow and then there was a wall of fire in front of the doors. “Fire barrier complete.” Kai said. “A fire barrier?” EJ asked. Kai turned to face us and nodded. “Yes. That is an A-class monster from the demon realm. They are known as harpies. Their talons are as strong as steel and usually laced with various toxins.” Kai explained. “They are weak against fire, so I had placed a fire barrier around this whole building. Nothing can get in or out of this place until I drop the barrier.” He added, turning his attention back to watch Riley and the harpy. The harpy had wings on her back as Natalia and Kayla did, but her legs were like giant bird feet. It looked female and had feathers covering its chest and genital areas like clothes. Almost as if it were wearing a feather bikini.

It came at Riley and swung the sword that it was holding towards her. Riley blocked it, but before she could attack back the harpy had flown back up out of her reach. Riley growled at it as it laughed. “Awww is the little puppy getting frustrated?” It taunted. Riley growled again. “What is your purpose here?” Riley demanded. The harpy cackled. “My name is Desyre. I am here to do my master’s bidding. He wants that little princess you are keeping within that barrier.” She said. “Well if you want to live then turn tail and run now. Because if you pursue my mistress, then I will slay you here and now.” Riley yelled out. Desyre just laughed. “Oh, little puppy. Even if you could cut me down, which is unlikely, How can you even compare to this!” She yelled while raising her arm up.

Kai gasped and cursed as we watched the night sky fill with more harpies. There looked to be at least a hundred. Then a twig snapping caught my attention to look to the forest line. I saw five giant dog-like creatures coming from the woods. They smelled of ash and rotting flesh, and they were giant. They were bigger than werewolves, even alphas. “Kai, what the hell are those?” I ask. Fear gripping my heart for Riley. Kai looked towards the trees and then shouted to Riley. “RILEY! HELLHOUNDS!” Riley snapped her head towards them just in time to see them all charging at her. All five of them at once. Riley transformed quickly into her hybrid form. She used her sword to fend off the hellhounds’ claws and teeth.

I couldn’t just sit here and watch. It was five against one on the ground. Not counting the army of harpies in the sky that were taking their turns swooping down and making small cuts on Riley’s body as they nicked her with their weapons. “Kai, you have to drop this barrier so we can help her.” I said. “No.” He answered. I was shocked. I knew Kai would do anything for his sister, why would he not help her now. I was even more surprised that EJ and TJ have not said anything themselves. “Kai, I said take down this barrier.” I growled out at him. “And I said ‘no’. I will not be endangering you.” He replied in a cold tone before looking at his watch. It was five minutes to midnight. “Kai, we are ordering you to drop this f*****g barrier so we can help Riley!” Drake growled. Kai looked at all of us with cold eyes that held no emotion. “I will not allow you to get yourselves killed, so no. The barrier stays in place.” He said. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Kai was going to abandon Riley just to keep me safe! I was fuming. I looked around for Kayla or Natalia, but couldn’t find them.

“Tucker! Where are your mates?!” I called out. I was getting more and more pissed. “They went off somewhere before this whole mess started.” He replied. I growled in frustration. ‘Great, this is just f*****g great.’ I growled in my head. ‘Mel, you should calm down. You know that Kai would only disobey an order if there was a good reason.’ Artemis tried to reason, but I was too pissed off to really think about what she said. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Uncle Raphael giving me a small smile. “Don’t worry Melody. I called some of my warriors that were on patrol to come help Riley.” He said. I felt a little more at ease, but Kai snapped to us and raised his voice. “NO! You have to tell them to stay away. It is not safe.” He screamed. Uncle Raphael gave Kai a cold glare. “I will not let a child fight those things alone. She is young and incredibly outnumbered. I care for her safety unlike what you are doing right now.” He spat the last part with a cold glare. EJ stood in front of Kai and growled at Uncle Raphael. While TJ stood behind him and placed his hands on Kai’s shoulders. I was so confused. What is going on with my brothers? They are both so protective over both the twins.

We were cut off by Riley and Kai screaming in pain. I looked at Kai and he was clutching his left arm, between his wrist and elbow. I looked over at Riley and saw that her left arm was clamped in the jaws of one of those hellhound things. I also noticed that Uncle Raphael’s warriors were in a separate barrier. It looked just like the one that Natalia had stuck us in on the first day we met her and Kayla. The hellhound picked Riley up by her arm and flung her our way. She grunted as her back slammed into Kai’s barrier. The bite on her arm looked like it was weeks old and infected, even though it literally just happened a second ago. “That is what happens when you get bitten or cut by a hellhound’s fangs and claws. They can literally rot the flesh off your bones.” Kai said in a raspy voice. I had no words. “Hey, is it me or does Riley’s hair look different?” Jeremiah asked.

Kai looked down at his watch. “s**t. Riley, thirty seconds.” He called out. Riley rose to her feet and nodded. She looked over at us with fear and worry on her face. “Don’t worry Riley. We will be here when it is over.” EJ said. TJ smiled and nodded. Did they know something I didn’t? I wondered. Riley kicked off her flats and stabbed her sword into the ground. “Melody, Luca, Drake, Jeremiah. Please don’t be afraid of Riley after this?” Kai asked. Pain and worry in his voice and his eyes held unshed tears. ‘Why would we be afraid of Riley?’ I asked myself. I noticed the hellhounds were getting closer before I could ask Kai anything else. Kai started to count down. “10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…” Then the clock struck midnight.

A dreadful howl filled the air and then a wicked laugh that turned into a scream. I looked all around thinking it was one of the harpies or hellhounds, but it was neither of them. The one screaming was Riley. Wind surrounded her. Blowing her hair all around and her hair turned a shiny silver and her eyes were a pale blue with bright red shining in her pupils. Tears streamed down her face as she started laughing like a crazy person. She wasn’t acting like herself nor did she look like the Riley that I knew. Just what was happening to Riley?
