Helios’ POV

Humans, shifters, fea… Mortals are all the same. For the last ten thousand years, mortals have been in this never-ending hatred of each other. Humans hunt shifters. Shifters fight amongst themselves for their own gain. It makes me sick of how my sweet little sister, Selene, cares so much for them. They cause her pain and heartache when they reject the mate bond that she gifts them. She creates perfect mates for them and they don’t appreciate it and throw it away. I hate them for causing her pain, but Selene loves them so much. She has always been a lover more than a fighter.

Honestly, she has never even raised her hand in violence, ever. Even if she has the power to strip these shifters of their gifts and their animal sides, and yet she doesn’t and allows them to make their own choices. “What is on your mind, my dear big brother?” A soft voice asked from behind me. I turned away from the magical spring that allows us gods to see into the mortal world. I saw my other little sister, Eos. She has bronze tan skin, pale purple eyes, and her long flowing hair was a perfect mix of orange, red, and yellow. It floated around her like clouds painted in the light of dawn. Which fit her perfectly since she was the Goddess of the Dawn.

“I am worried that this wolf that Selene has chosen to be her Moon Princess, is giving our sister false hope. Mortals are all just greedy and selfish creatures at the end of the day after all.” I spat. While my siblings know of my feelings towards mortals, Selene chooses to love them while Eos remains neutral in the matters of mortals. Eos looked from the spring and then to me. She walked over and gently touched the spring. I looked down and saw that wolf girl was all snuggled up to her mates in bed. “I feel that times are changing brother. Selene and you have fought about the mortals for the last ten thousand years. Don’t you think that this has gone on long enough?” She asked. “Are you taking a side in this matter?” I asked in a firm tone.

Eos looks up to meet my gaze. Her eyes held nothing readable. “I hold nothing special for these mortals, but this child that Selene has chosen to fulfill the terms that you have set all those years ago… Brother she is different. Even without the mate bond, she saved her first mate. She protected vampires from other wolves. She has shown nothing but kindness and respect for other races the entire time she has been placed in that world.” Eos said. I was shocked. This was the most Eos has spoken about this feud Selene and I have about these mortals. “Brother she has even accepted those that are from that other world that Selene has been nurturing.” She said. Her voice was soft and stern at the same time.

I sigh. “Yes, but sister… In the end. This Moon Princess will just look after herself. They all do.” I growled. Mortals only care for themselves. They use others for their own convenience. I know this girl will be the same. Just like I tested with that man in the other world. I gave his beast soul to his sister and he murdered his own family and is still trying to kill his sister now. Mortals have no right to exist.

I turned away from Eos and the spring. Walking at a fast pace, I headed towards the workshop of the blacksmith of the gods, Hephaestus. I barged through the doorway. “Hephaestus. Are you busy?” I hollered as I looked around. Hephaestus came out of his backroom. His curly black hair was sticking to his wet tan skin. His amber eyes were glowing in the light of the fire as he set down in front of his huge forge. He wiped the sweat off his brow as he spoke. “Hello, Helios. What can I do for you?” He asked. “I need you to make something for me and keep it between us.” I said. His dark bow arched. “Are you going to meddle in with your sister’s affairs with her mortal children?” He asked in a serious tone. I gave him a confident smirk. “Not necessarily. I am just going to give Selene’s Moon Princess a test, and when she fails it… I will prove to my sister that all mortals are selfish creatures that should no longer exist.” I said.
