Chapter 2020

However, Wildfire was already a powerful figure with a formidable reputation, and even the then-leader of the Purevoid Sect dared not provoke him. After all, a royal paragon powerhouse like Wildfire would essentially have become one with the way of practitioners, and he was powerful enough to cause a rift in space with a single wave of his hand.

Although the leader of the Purevoid Sect was also a very formidable royal paragon, he lagged far behind Wildfire-the number one unaffiliated practitioner in the Southsky. Wildfire wielded an elite-quality treasure mountain-shaped treasure with the rumored ability to condense sky and soil energy that supposedly claimed countless lives of practitioners.

A royal paragon might be formidable, but their progress would be limited if they did not make a breakthrough to supreme paragon. Ultimately, even a powerful and renowned royal paragon like Wildfire met his demise in the Artic Heights ten thousand years ago due to his limited lifespan.

There was no heir to his throne. Following his death, his disciples went their separate paths, and so his elite-quality treasures such as the Sky-Soil Zenith, and other things that could be passed down such as his mystical fire art were lost to history.

Speculations later arose that Wildfire possessed a secret abode filled with treasures, which sparked a treasure hunting frenzy following his demise. The four major sects dispatched their disciples to scour the Artic Heights, but the search that lasted several hundred years turned up nothing and people soon forgot

all about it.

It had therefore come as a complete surprise that his abode appeared out of nowhere ten thousand years.

later.

As Severin recollected the life of Wildfire, Oskar entered the hall. He glanced at all the elders, core disciples, and the elite disciples that he had summoned over.

"I assume you're all aware that the Wildfire's relics have surfaced. The Purevoid Sect, Marvair Sect, and the Deifirm Sect are preparing to send their disciples in to hunt for treasure," Oskar said in a grave tone from his seat. 'After investigation by one of our elders, we discovered a formation in the abode that allows only supreme saints to enter and exit freely. I've gathered you here to discuss our next course of

action. Does anyone want to volunteer?"

There were several reasons why Oskar refrained from specifically naming any disciples. Such abodes, especially those that recently surfaced, contained numerous formations and lethal traps. In addition, three other sects would be sending their disciples into the fray, making confrontation Inevitable. Though there was a potential to secure many promising prospects within the abode, it was important not to focus on that at the expense of the sect members' safety.

Oskar thus decided to seek insights from the elders and disciples. The disciples began to discuss among themselves, wondering what they could possibly get from the abode and if it was capable of pushing them to greater heights. Even the peak masters were discussing among themselves. As paragons, they salivated at the possibility of inheriting Wildfire's legacy, believing it to be a chance to peer into the level of a royal paragon.

Severin's interest was piqued too. "Rumor has it that Wildfire's treasured weapon was a mountain condensed with sky and soil energy. If I can get my hands on that, there might be hope yet for me to master the Sky-Soil Heptagold Sword Energy to perfection!" Severin contemplated whether or not to vie for that.

Severin was a core disciple, and he anticipated making a breakthrough to paragon within a year or two if things continued at his current pace. Furthermore, he was-in a sense-self-sustaining because of his ability a sixth-grade high-rank alchemist. Thus, he did not need to take such risks at all. Many would view the stability he had in being able to raise his attainment and elevate his alchemy skills as a safe choice to proceed further.

After pondering for a moment, Severin reached a decision. "I'd be stupid to turn away opportunities that fall onto my lap. I might just be a level seven supreme saint, but at full strength, I might just be able to

contend with a level nine supreme emperor."

Severin's main worry was locating sky-soil energy, so the abode's sudden appearance seemed as if his prayers had been answered. Wildfire's weapon, a mountain condensed with sky-soil energy, would almost certainly have an abundance of that energy. That would make it the perfect complement for him to

master the Sky-Soil Heptagold Sword Energy.

Should luck come his way, he might be able to secure more of Wildfire's relics too.
