Chapter 20
Cristián watched as his companion paced back and forth in the room of his flat. He delighted in the movement of her h**s and those legs that had previously welcomed him so pleasantly between them. Alisha hadn’t looked at him in hours, but the blush on her face was evident every time he spoke to her or they made any physical contact forced by him. He knew she was embarrassed for sure, but that she had responded to her most natural instinct, she had, and both he and his wolf were very pleased to have been the cause of it.
He licked his lips as he sat on the bed gawking at the faint scent that barely held the sheets. They had gone home to pick up what was needed to get him settled in the pack mansion, after Alisha had taken care of multiple errands in different departments of the company. She was uncomfortable with the fact that she could not be present for a few days due to her condition, but what impressed her most was the efficiency and responsiveness of the employees. Serguei had told her that only the best and most loyal worked in his company and it proved to be true.
-I’m not a ham, Christian,” she snapped him out of his thoughts as she rummaged through a drawer, he squinted uncomprehendingly, “Stop looking at me like I’m an appetizer and help me out.
He got up lazily and stood behind her, violating her personal space, making her startle.
What do you need? – Now that he knew she wasn’t made of ice, he’d bring out the state-of-the-art artillery, but if he was bonding with her, he was bonding with her. And he’d found that her wolf agreed with him, there was only the barrier the human side put between them, to make her his.
-Take the suitcase behind the chest of drawers and bring it here, I’ll keep the last things,” Alisha avoided making eye contact.
Cristián listened to her and left the suitcase next to her. This would make two, she was a cautious woman, even if she kept clothes for a short time, although he didn’t intend it to be just that.
When she had everything packed she left the suitcases in the living room and looked for her laptop in the study, she would need it.
Is this all? – If you need anything else, I can buy it for you before I go back.
-For the moment I just need this, I don’t usually use a lot of things when I’m away from home. Alisha didn’t want to take too much with her, the idea of losing her freedom and independence wasn’t to her liking, even if it was next to this man who was starting to awaken a part of her that she didn’t even know.
-Let’s go then,” she bent down to pick up one of the suitcases when she had to turn to grab the woman’s body in mid-air. She had noticed that after the semi-transformation she was a little unsteady, but she had no magnitude of how much.
Are you OK? – he asked as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her to his chest to support her head.
-Yeah, I’m just a little tired.” She touched her temple with a grimace. She felt dizzy, with a simple stumble she had lost her balance.
Cristian brought his free hand to the back of her neck and massaged it to soothe her muscles and help her headache. A pleasant feeling of security and relaxation ran down Alisha’s spine that made her purr. A purr. Her eyes snapped open.
As she became more aware of her closeness to Christian she tensed. Her body throbbed again in response to him and with a little push she untangled herself from his arms with difficulty, pulling away. The shifter scowled at her.
-You know I don’t bite, right?
She stared at the ground uncomfortably. With each transformation her body responded more to the urge to be near the wolf.
-And swallowing her pride, she walked out the door to a shout behind her back.
Cristián clicked his teeth. He grabbed the suitcases and went out after her, perhaps she wasn’t aware that she was being chased.
He closed the door behind her back with his foot and went down the elevator as fast as he could.
When he came out she was waiting for him leaning against the door, at least she had four fingers in front of her not to jump into the void without him around.
-You can’t just run off like that, remember your condition,” he blurted out more sharply than he intended, receiving wide eyes from the woman. It was clear she wasn’t used to being spoken to like that.
-I don’t know what came over my head,” she turned her face to avoid his accusing gaze.
-Well be more aware of your surroundings, I can’t protect you if every time you get emotional you jump overboard, which is often enough- Cristián found himself letting out all his frustration in one go and he was being too rude. He was annoyed by both his continued rejection of her, his uncertainty and his own irresponsibility, unheard of for a couple, maybe he should have listened to the elders and ended up locking her in the house.
Alisha didn’t move. She was sure to cry now, that’s what women always did whenever you told them the truth to their faces. But she wasn’t like all women.
She turned around, squared her shoulders and walked to the car, got in and slammed the door shut with a jerk that hurt even Cristián. What was missing, now she was annoyed with him. He let out a growl that would have made any lesser wolf’s b***d run cold.
He would need Dylan’s advice on dealing with women. Urgent.
