Love at the Door -
Chapter 77
Chapter 77
Melina carefully memorized each and every one of them..
Once Wallace finished the introductions, he waved his hand dismissively.
“Alright, everyone, go back to your business. By the way, Andrew doesn’t want anyone outside the family to know about the marriage, so keep this to yourselves. But if any of you feel brave enough to deal with him, go ahead and spread the news,” he said.
Everyone quickly shook their heads, saying they wouldn’t dare. Andrew’s temper was notorious, and apart from Wallace, no one else could rein him in.
Wallace didn’t pay them much attention after that. It seemed he wasn’t too fond of most of them anyway.
He beckoned to Melina, “Come on, let me show you your room. We’ve been preparing for it for a while. If there’s anything you don’t like, we’ll change it.”
Melina nodded politely to the elders and hurried after Wallace.
Once the two of them were upstairs, one of Celine’s daughters grumbled with dissatisfaction, “Grandpa made such a big deal about preparing a room. I thought it. was for me, Mom, Grandpa used to spoil me the most. Why is he treating Melina so
well?”
Celine, with her hands on her swollen belly, nodded in agreement and was equally displeased. “Even my room wasn’t done up this nicely. She’s just an outsider. I don’t know what Dad’s thinking!”
The girls continued their chattering and venting their frustrations.
Ashlyn caught a sharp glint in her eyes after observing the scene. She thought they were fools as they didn’t notice how differently Wallace was treating Melina.
The smart move would be to win her over, not to start petty comparisons.
She gave Joseph a quick look, and the two of them left as they were having no interest in dealing with that group of idiots.
When Melina reached the room, she was stunned.
The space was even larger than Andrew’s bedroom at Oakread. It had its walk–in closet, a separate section for shoes and bags, a vanity room, and a plush carpet.
The bed itself must have been over two meters wide. The whole room was
decorated in soft beige and pink tones, radiation a youthful and feminine and energy.
Mi Wentworth Senker, am I really staying here? Melina asked
Wallace nodded. “Yes, this is the bedroom prepared for you both. What do your think? If there’s anything you don’t like, we can change it”
“No, it’s not that I don’t like it. It’s just so big. It feels like a waste for me to live here.”
“Nonsense, as the daughter–in–law of the Wentworth family, you deserve the best,” Wallace replied
Melina hesitated after realizing that since it was referred to as the bedroom, it was meant to be shared with Andrew.
Her expression grew a little awkward, and she asked, “Will Andrew even like the decor?”
She couldn’t help but compare it to Andrew’s stark, black–and–white aesthetic back at Oakread. This bright, girly room seemed like a stark contrast to his taste.
Wallace waved his hands dismissively, “It doesn’t matter whether he likes it or not. my best Andrew hardly ever wants to come back to the Wentworth residence. I’ll do to get him back here.”
Melina resisted the urge to say that there was no need to try asking Wallace back home. The thought of sharing the space with Andrew made her anxious.
After settling Melina in, Wallace retreated to his study. He pulled out his phone, and his tone was instantly cold and authoritative.
“Keep pressuring Andrew. Joseph has been doing well recently, give him the new project to handle. And do as I said about the Thompson family. They’re getting greedy, so cut off all cooperation with them.
If Melina had been in the room at that moment, she would have had a hard time reconciling this stern and calculating man with the warm and kind image she held of
him.
Wallace wasn’t simply being overprotective of Melina. He knew that a dark side lurked within Andrew, a side that could one day destroy not just Andrew himself but the entirely Wentworth family.
Wallace had encountered countless people in his life, and he was certain that Melina was the one who could keep the demons inside Andrew at bay.
Meanwhile, Andrew was not concerned about the family business at all that night. He was up late to conduct an investigation on Melina.
