Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 1001
"Mr. Lutz, remember what I told you, get moving. I've already got Parisa Tennyson wrapped around my finger, she'll start going after Ludwik Lippert soon enough!" And then there's Whitney Valentine.
The very thought of Whitney, that tramp, made Florence Sheldon seethe with hatred. Yet, at that moment, she was smirking with pride. Poor Whitney, probably clueless that her mother is still alive and filthy rich, huh?
Too bad for her, I've got her mother under my thumb now. And I'll use her to bring Whitney down.
Soon, Whitney, Ludwik, and those lapdogs at the Sheldon Group will pay the price.
The Sheldon Group will be mine again, and I'll reclaim my spot as the belle of Emperor City.
Suddenly remembering something important, Florence quickly asked, "Mr. Lutz, did you manage to trip up Ludwik? I've just made amends with Parisa, and he cannot come here to mess things up!"
"Don't worry." Bryce Lutz smirked coldly, "Ludwik is probably hanging by a thread in the forests of central Germinia. If he survives, it'll be a miracle! I had someone lure him into a trap the day before yesterday. The driver took action and has already reported back to me." "Really? Now we can rest easy." Florence laughed heartily.
For now, Ludwik was the only one on her trail, perhaps suspecting something.
If he were dead, she'd have no more worries.
After hanging up, Florence stood up, feeling overjoyed. She walked back to her private ward from the garden, her belly heavy and dragging, the sharp pains like cries for help from the baby inside.
The doctor had suggested inducing labor today since the baby was at risk due to oxygen deprivation.
But she wanted to delay it, to let Whitney's seed perish as revenge.
Now knowing Ludwik's fate was uncertain, she mused that even if he wanted to claim his child, it was impossible.
It was time to schedule the induction.
With a malicious smile, Florence felt utterly relaxed as she returned to her room, about to summon her nanny, Cara, when she sensed something off.
A strange sense of intrusion, coupled with a chilling aura, seemed to freeze the room's temperature.
That unsettling gaze seemed to emanate from somewhere in the dark.
Florence's mind stalled, sensing someone else in the room.
She squinted into the darkness, her voice trembling, "Cara?"
No response from the nanny, who should have been there.
A shiver ran down her spine, a sense of imminent danger overwhelming her as she nearly trembled while reaching for the light switch. Click-
The spacious ward lit up brightly.
And in the next instant, Florence's confident demeanor froze as she pointed at the tall, imposing figure sitting on the couch in the dead of night, disbelief in her voice, "...Ludwik?" "How did you find me? Weren't you..." taken out by Bryce's men?
Bryce had just confirmed it to her. Where did it all go wrong?
However, this man was notoriously resilient. Eliminating him wasn't as easy as Bryce had imagined.
Florence's face turned ashen, frozen in place at the doorway, too scared to move further.
Ludwik turned, his long fingers casually extinguishing a cigarette, his voice cold as ice, "Disappointed to see me alive? Bryce told you I was dead, didn't he?"
"..." Florence's face turned a shade paler, her back against the door, eyes wide with fear.
The man stood, his tight waist and black shirt accentuating his imposing figure, like a dark lord come for retribution.
His towering presence felt like a high wall, his dark shadow oppressively advancing.
"Florence, was it fun hiding all this time?"
"Ludwik! How could you possibly find me..." Florence stammered, disbelief in her voice.
This was Germinia. Even with Ludwik's cunning, it seemed impossible for him to wield his influence here!
How did he escape Bryce's assassination attempt and find her so quickly?
This was bad news.
"My child, is it still alive?" Ludwik didn't answer her question, his gaze piercing straight to her swollen belly. His heart was like being cut by knives, his eyes turning a shade of blood-red, terrifying amidst his usual handsome appearance. His tone was the calm before the storm.
Advancing step by step towards her!
"Don't come any closer!" Florence panicked, his gaze feeling like a noose around her neck.
Ludwik had been searching for her for a long time, and knowing she fled to Germinia with his child, one could only imagine his seething anger and thirst for revenge.
She turned to run, desperate to escape!
"Ahh!" Suddenly, her hair was caught in his firm grip, Ludwik pulling her back harshly.
Florence screamed, thrown against the door, Ludwik clutching her belly, his gaze burning with rage yet cautious of the unborn child. His voice was low and threatening, "Caught at last, Florence. You think you'd get away? I won't rest until you're punished. Now, tell me about my child! Tell me!"
His grip tightened around her neck.
"Ah... let go, you madman, Ludwik, let go!"
"Is it still alive?" His eyes were bloodshot.
"Alive... It's over eight months now, Ludwik. Even if you want your child back, you need me alive. It's been oxygen-deprived, showing signs of distress. If you harm me, it might not survive the birth. Be smart!" Florence threatened, tears of fear streaming down her face. Struggling to breathe, her face turned a shade of purple.
Ludwik didn't let go, dragging her towards the bed, his figure as stern as a statue, pushing her onto the bed before turning to the trembling nanny in the corner, "She had an accident a few days ago; is the baby hurt?"
Florence was startled. How did Ludwik know about her accident? And did he know whom she had collided with?
A wave of unease surged through her.
Cara shot her a quick glance, and with undeniable honesty, she informed Ludwik, "Ms. Sheldon was severely injured in a car accident, sustaining significant abdominal trauma. She didn't receive immediate treatment, so she's been bleeding for the past few days. I'm afraid... the baby might be in peril inside her..."
"Shut your mouth, Cara!" Florence snapped fiercely, her voice dripping with venom. This nanny, a traitor in their midst, had betrayed them by spilling secrets.
Ludwik's eyes, already tinged with fury, blazed even brighter with wrath.
The thought of his child, suffering inside Florence-the wicked witch's abdomen his heart clenched in agony, fueled by a relentless desire to tear her apart.
It was only eight months, but a premature birth was inevitable.
He couldn't wait another second.
"You." Ludwik's gaze was icy as he fixed it on the nanny. "Get out, and call a doctor to deliver the baby! If you dare play any tricks, remember, my secretary is right outside, watching your every move. Your life is on the line."
